    Actually, there is a nighttime episode in 1976 (Dennis James hosted, the winner won a plane) where both contestants bid $10,000.

      @@touchdown62 Thanks for explaining. I was very confused when I saw, for sure, this was 1982, but I heard the TNG theme from the 1990s show. I had no idea they reused the theme song from the 1979 movie. I thought it was newly composed for the TNG series.

    • @Vidgmchtr
      @Vidgmchtr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beakt It was first used in the 1979 movie, yes. Fans of TNG quickly seemed to forget that fact when Star Trek V: The Final Frontier ALSO used it. Star Trek V came out in 1989, 2-3 seasons into TNG. There were complaints from TNG fans about the TOS movie "stealing" the TNG theme, when the theme predated TNG by 8 years.

    Around 1998, Game Show Network aired a promo showing Bob's "we've never had this happen before" remarks here before jumping back to the same thing happening in 1975, where he only points out that duplicate bids are fine since there's two Showcases.
    So yeah, no, not "TV History".

    There is nothing wrong with the Showcase players both giving the same bid, because they are bidding on two different showcases. Identical bids are just not allowed in "One Bid" rounds because they are bidding on the same prize. Also, overbids are disqualified because you don't want the possibility of a tie if one person is under and another person is over by the same amount.

    • @markheying2830
      @markheying2830 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also further more, in the One Bid if you are bidding last you should Bid $1 if you think the other 3 are over or Bid $1 more than the highest Bid if you think the other 3 have Bid too low.
