Something really did get screwed up. One day all of a sudden most of the channels I watch were no longer getting recommended. I had to go search for everything. It’s a mess. You Tube is lying if they say nothing happened and or that it’s fixed. I feel bad for creators.

There may be a killer bee algorithm on it’s way or already completed. It can probably also analyse your voice. Not sure, I don’t work for Google in any official manner, I do play with them all the time though.
TH-cam AI could even tell me I repeated myself in that last comment a bit, and I think I repeated myself 6-7 times meaningfully in 9 or so years.

youtube definitely shadow bans people. A racist attacked me on my tiny channel and my response was to correct his grammar every time. For that youtube accused ME of endangering the community and threatened to "take action" and my channel suddenly went from getting around 100 subscribers a month to getting 3 in the last five months. so yeah ...

So true--the second I can't trust someone with the facts, I am out of there. I will argue opinions, but not truth. David is as trustworthy as it gets. Whenever someone takes the time to correct an error, my heart warms--it shows truth is more important than ego! We can trust them.
I normally watch the member’s commercial-free full episodes. So I don’t view these separate clips.
But these clips are so important! It’s how I got into the show in the first place. Clips would show up on my feed, so I’d watch them, then more would show up on my feed and I’d watch them. Finally I decided to become a member to watch the whole show at once.
But now I’m going through and liking all the episodes. They deserve the thumbs up!

Maybe the problem with Davids Channel is not the youtube algorithm at all maybe the problem is more that people are not that interested in political news in the US currently. I mean we are currently basically in the slowest possible time for US politics we are in a time period shortly after the midterm elections Democrats lost the house that means that the next 2 years nothing really meaningful will happen in the US congress Biden is in lame duck period. I personally would not be shocked if the interest for political news in the US is currently just a the lowest point possible and that is the main reason for why political youtube channels don't perform that great now

I agree. TH-cam is anything but transparent and when things go wrong with their programming algorithms [perhaps due to changes they made], they can be slow and even evasive to fix/correct. They should really have a channel - TH-cam Updates - and let everyone knows when things go south and what they are doing to fix it.

Maybe that's part of the algorithm - to mark `likes' after a few seconds play as suspicious and probably a bot. One might see why the Choob might want to do that. Gaming the system is a dangerous game.
I hope not. I always click "like" the second I'm starting most videos, since otherwise I forget. If I really hate someone's video, I'll "unlike" before I close it..
@@mrychards6682 I believe that's exactly what a lot of fans do, and why it'd be a terrible algorithm that acted on the supposition that fans and bots are indistinguishable, so penalise 'em all.

David, since this happened, I started really paying attention to my other liberal channels, and it's going on with theirs too, just not as dramatically as yours did! So just a shout-out to everyone, check your other channels and make sure you're getting your content . I even had to go back and resubscribe to some of them. Not blaming YT necessarily, but something sure happened!

But I've noticed that I'm not getting as many recs for the channels I subscribe to, and I'm getting more for stuff I'm not interested in, such as local news broadcasts from other states. I preferred the earlier method.

I actually did exactly what you asked for (and I normally NEVER subscribe to any channel). Good that it seemed to help.
working in tech, it isn't rare that data needs to be ramping up during a reboot, sometimes this can take a while before you see numbers going back to normal. And I really think that this is what happened, a cluster of data must have rebooted and needed to get back up to speed. No malicious intend, no human purposefully targeting specific accounts, just a bad server behavior and a reboot that reset the algorithm leading to a downtime in viewership.
I have a similar problem with my channel. Views are up. Subscriptions are up. Yet revenue is inexplicably down.
