This has to be one of the best organs in NYC, and likely the whole east coast. It is fabulous and it speaks with delightful authority (and a fantastic accent).

I am determined to watch ALL of your demonstration videos. It is a joy to watch how gentle and loving you are when playing an organ and how, when demonstrating the various colors, you draw them with respect and - through your wonderful improvisations - give us a chance to hear how they sound in the building. Thank you, and Bravo!

I had read about this instrument before and heard clips of it and I could tell it was an incredible instrument. I really appreciate how I was able to hear a great demonstration of all the different sounds of this organ. It is a French inspired instrument, but you demonstrated how it is versatile with all kinds of repertoire. Thank you for this wonderful demonstration!

Finally!! An organ which has a building with the acoustics to do it justice!

Thank you, Meister. There may have been others, but this is the most comprehensive and decent airing of this fine organ that I have heard. Each and every one of your musical phrases in demonstration is a masterpiece of improvisation in miniature. Bravo!

Absolutely agree. Not the biggest but IMO the finest. Sort of Rolls Royce and Bentley all in a singular package.

I'd love to hear the reeds alone. They don't ALWAYS need a 4' something with them. Otherwise, I love your videos!

The 32' Contre Bombarde, and both the 16' Bombarde and Bason 16' in the pedal played together would be superbly resounding!

I got there in 2005 when Renee Anne Louprette took me up to the gallery. It was an incredible experience to play there. You made a great demonstration of this beauty!

...wonderful demonstration. The instrument sounds voiced very well for performance of "French baroque/classical" literature even though there are two enclosed Recit divisions. I particularly love the Cornets, Vox Humana and Bombardes.
In the specifications it lists a suspended mechanical; key action and also includes the Effet d'orage ("thunder effect").
Next time I visit New York will have to try and hear this instrument live.

The complete pipe organ, superb voicing, responsive mechanicals ,and a decent acoustic . Well done Meister Mander. the Organist is most professional !
The pedal Bombard is equal to Saint Ouen in Rouen. Such musical marvels are rarely made in the 21st Century..

STUNNING video! Superb demonstration of that very fine Mander on Park Avenue. Hollywood studio like camera sharpness and overall production, beautifully recorded and if I may ask, what camera/cameras were used?

Balint, this video is fantastic, as we have come to expect. The "audition" is always a masterclass in contrapuntal improvisation! I've never had the pleasure of hearing St. Ignatius in person, but it's interesting to hear how many similarities it has to our instrument here in Birmingham (for obvious reasons). Cheers, and keep up the great work.

I've always said that organs sound like the people who created them, whose singular vision they were. I have met John Mander several times, spent quite a while in his company. Not once have I detected an ounce of passion or humour in the man. He is the very definition of English 'stiff upper lip', reserved to a fault, without any of the bold, strong-minded personality that characterised the Willis family. He was/is a highly diligent craftsman, and nobody could possibly claim this instrument isn't a success (most would argue it is his crowning achievement), but if this organ sounds soulless to you... he's probably why. It's a very, very good organ that does everything incredibly well... but it leaves me strangely unmoved, just as it does for you.

@@johnmangels5572 I never liked the Abbey organ anyway. Just a big oppressive noise in what is not actually a very big building.
