    I recently ran in the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 for the first time. It's a very comfortable supershoe, as well as being propulsive. Watch the video to see my thoughts on this shoe and who I think that it would work best for. I'll be comparing this shoe to the new Speed 4, the Saucony Endorphin Elite and the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris soon.

    Great video, I'll be back for the asics paris video, trying to decide between the Endorphin pro and those

      Thanks. The Paris is now officially the lightest shoe that I own. 7.58 Oz in a size 12! The only sub 8 Oz shoe that I own. It’s crazy that is possible with a stack of 39.5 mm, which is probably actually more like 43 mm in my size.
      Was planning to take a day off from running today. But may not be able to resist taking those out.

    Hey Sean great video.
    I ran a PB in the NYC half this past weekend in the Endorphin Pro 4s and it’s like they’re getting better and faster the more I wear them.

      Congrats on the PB! That’s good to hear. I’m hoping to be able to use the Pro 4 in a marathon paced long run soon. Would also love to try them out in a race. Really liking the fit, comfort and roll of this shoe.
      I’m trying to find my shoe for the Chicago Marathon this year. Right now it’s between the Pro 4 and Edge Paris. The Edge is so light! But I’m concern about it’s tighter fit and stability for 26.2.
      I also heard that the Superblast 2 may come out this fall. If that does come out before Chicago, that may be a contender as well. It will have the same FF Turbo + foam as the Edge. So that’s going to be a max stack, bouncy, stable monster of a shoe.

    Thanks for the review! I’m on the fence on these. My current “super shoe” I do training in is Adios pro 3 and Prime x2 strung. I have the Edge Paris coming as well.
    Reviews have been all over the place where some prefer the 3’s and run testers sort of panned this shoe and recommended the speed 4.
    Were you able to get a good lock down? I heard the laces are bad.

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Adios Pro 3 has been a go to for me for several races. I find that firmer than this shoe. The Pro 4 has more of a softer bounce and roll sensation. I find the AP3 more direct.
      I think the AP3 feels like a faster shoe than this one. I’m going to match up a bunch of these shoes soon and run in them back to back to try to do a fair comparison.
      A lot of people loved the Pro 3. The consensus seems to be that is a faster shoe than the Pro 4. But I haven’t run in the Pro 3 in over a year. So I can’t make a fair comparison between the two, simply from how I remember it feeling a year ago.
      I had a good lockdown in the Pro 4. Didn’t have as good of a lock down in the Speed 4. The Pro 4 has a tighter fitting upper. I actually think that there is more length in the Speed 4 than the Pro 4 this go around.
      If I could do it over, I’d get a 12 in the Speed 4 and keep a 12.5 in the Pro 4. I needed a 12.5 in both the Speed and Pro 3s.
      Both shoes have stretchy laces, which I hate. I swapped them out in the Speed 4 and am using a runners knot in that one going forward. I had rubbing in the heel on my first run in those, which caused a blister (because of the bad lockdown from the stretchy laces).
      The Pro 4 still has the stretchy laces, but I got a better lockdown than in the Speed because the upper is tighter and the shoe doesn’t run as long. So I may not need to swap the laces in the Pro 4, but I did in the Speed 4.
      Both the Speed and Pro 4 have a pleasant bounce and roll. The stiffer plate in the Pro makes it more propulsive than the Speed. But neither one of them is crazy aggressive.
      The Edge Paris is lighter and faster than both. I’d definitely pick that one over both shoes for shorter races. But the Pro 4 is more stable than the Paris. I will be doing longer runs in both shoes soon to see what I think will work better for me for the marathon distance.

    Definitely getting the Edge Paris. Hope plate is also a bit more flexible.

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. In reviews that I saw so far, it looks like the placement of the plate in the Edge will work better for me than the Sky this go around. I won’t be getting both, since I have to buy all of my shoes.
      If that shoe is not as stiff as the previous version, the foam is a bit softer and bouncier and it maintains that very light weight, that one may be excellent. Looking forward to trying it.
      I think that the Pro 4 will be more of a cruiser while that one will be more aggressive. If the Edge Paris ends up being like a combo of the Pro 4 and Endorphin Elite, I’ll be very happy.

      Got the Edge Paris in the mail today. The foam is definitely softer than the Original Metaspeed Sky. The plate is still very stiff. Haven't run in them yet. They weighed in at only 7.58 Oz in a US 12! Pretty crazy that a shoe with 39.5 mm of stack weighs under 8 Oz in my size. The only sub 8 Oz shoe that I own.

    You really liked the Adios Pro 3. Curious what your thoughts are between the Endo Pro 4 vs the Adios Pro 3.

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A great question. I plan on running in a bunch of these supershoes again back to back soon. Also will have the new Metaspeed Edge Paris arriving soon. "These shoes were sent to me for the purpose of review. But my opinions are my own and no one is paying me to make this video." Just kidding. No one sends me shoes. I got my tax return and bought some. Haha. Having just run in the Pro 4, my initial thoughts are that I find it much softer and bouncier than the AP3. But not necessarily faster. The two shoes have a very similar footprint (width in the forefoot and heel). The Saucony is a bit wider in the heel.
      A 12 fits me in the AP3. Needed a 12.5 in the Pro 4. They have about the same angle at the front of the shoe. The upper of the Saucony is more comfortable. I feel like the Saucony is relying more on the bounciness of that foam and the Speedroll geometry to bounce and roll you along. LightStirke Pro is a firmer foam, with less bounce. But I've also found it very resilient and like it has more pop. The AP3 has more of a natural yet aggressive ride. The Pro 4 right now is feeling like a comfy trampoline on a rocking chair (if that makes any sense).
      The ride is very different in those two shoes. I'll have to run in them again back to back to give you an exact comparison. I also really want to take the Pro 4 for a 10 plus mile run and see if it keeps on bouncing and rolling along at a fast pace or if I get bogged down at some point. Sometimes I can sink into these softer bouncier shoes too much and lose momentum later in a race. I know that won't happen to me in the AP3 (have done both a full and half marathon in that shoe). We'll have to see about the Pro 4. Look for another Supershoe comparison video coming soon.

    I have very mild stability needs...do they feel stable?

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. I'm in the same boat (needing light stability). I can handle an unstable shoe for a shorter race like a 5k or 10k, but want more stability for a half or full marathon. I tend to overpronate on my right side and it gets much worse if a shoe has a narrow heel. The heel of the Pro 4 is slightly wider than the Adidas AP3. And I find that to be a stable super shoe. The Pro 4 is also wide at the mid foot compared to some others. I didn't notice over-pronation in this shoe on my initial run.
      The foam is soft and bouncy, but the width, the plate and speed roll geometry keeps things rolling in the right direction. I'm hoping to do a long run in the Pro 4 this weekend to see if it keeps its stability and doesn't get mushy when I run in it for over 1:30:00. I'll be posting more videos about this shoe and how it compares to the Speed 4 and Endorphin Elite soon, once I get some more miles into them. I'm considering this as my marathon shoe for Chicago later this year. I just got the ASICS Metaspeed Edge in the mail today. So will be trying that out soon and reviewing that one as well. It's amazingly light, but also more narrow that the Pro 4 in every dimension. I'm very curious to see how that one feels. Video on that one to come soon as well.

    I have 2 pairs of the Endorphin Pro 3. What were your fit problems with it?

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had a hard time getting a good lockdown on my initial runs. When I did the runners knot, it put too much pressure on the outside of my foot and caused me pain. At that point, I knew that it wouldn’t work for me for a marathon. I had the NYC marathon coming up and decided to go for the Adios Pro 3. I think it was a matter of where that extra lace loop ended up falling on my foot.
      In my review of that shoe, I praised it as being a great shoe but that it just didn’t work for me because of the fit. I don’t have that same issue with the lacing in the Pro 4.

      None for me. The best Saucony Endorphin Pro yet. I still have to try the 4s and Race in them.

    Speed 4 has narrower toebox then Pro 4?

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Must have misheard me there. There is much more volume in the Speed 4 than the Pro 4. Pro 4 has more of a racing fit. I’m actually finding the Speed 4 to be a little bit longer than the Pro 4 as well. In my normal 12.5 for Saucony the Pro 4 fits perfectly. I have a little bit more than a thumbnail space in the Speed 4. A half size down in that one may have actually been better for me.

      I’d like to try that one. But mostly likely won’t be buying it. I know that it’s on the heavier side. I’m hoping that either the Pro 4 or the Metaspeed Edge Paris is the marathon shoe that I’m looking for. Time will tell.

    What would you choose - them or adidas adios pro 3?

    • @runwithsean
      @runwithsean  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A question that I’m currently asking myself. I ran the NYC Marathon in the AP3 in 2022. I have yet to take the Pro 4 for a very long run. That is on my to do list.
      I plan on running in a bunch of my super shoes back to back soon and posting a video with a comparison. So look for that coming soon.
      I like the upper and fit of the Pro 4 over the AP3. They have similar dimensions but the Pro 4 is a little bit wider in the heel. Both shoes have good stability.
      The Pro 4 feels softer and bouncier. The AP3 may be more propulsive. I’m looking forward to running in them back to back to really assess the differences. Look for that comparison video soon.
