Absolutely beautiful wedding. So grateful to see different Jewish traditions. They have their own flavor but also are so similar, this in itself is wonderful
Beautiful and festive, wishing the best to all. looks more Moroccan or North African than Iraqi though ! Normally, Iraqis don’t wear the head tarboosh !
@@ShirJewishMusic Music, rhythm, lyrics rest assured NOT of Iraqi origin as Iraqi music usually has way more profound “percussion” in its songs old and new. The beautiful people here don’t look Iraqis either, their skin tone, stature and facial features are different than what an ordinary Iraqi appearance. Perhaps they’re sons and daughters of an Iraqi grandmother/grandfather. The “FEZ” or tarboosh or headwear is not native to Iraq, in fact it’s not even Arabic . it is of Ottoman Empire (today’s Turkey) origin which spanned 3 contents, Iraq being one, is a fairly “new” sovereign country, a British creation p. WWI After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, in order to appease the Arabs, the lands were sectioned off and all over the place “new” countries emerged, international boundaries drawn, British bases built, oil fields secured and voila >> what do you know an instant new country in 1920 with its own king, government or call em as you will is still a British mandate / protectorate and officially admitted to the League of Nations in 1932the forerunner or name change of the UN After all is said and done, it’s part of the British empire , a fancy name for British occupation and colonisation, just like Syria and Lebanon were “rewarded” to France p. WWI. Had WWII not taken place which bled Europe dry especially the British, who knows Iraq might’ve been still British ! PeACe ✌️ Shalom Salam to all ..
@@genesis2936 Thanks for that - really interesting. Only the Groom's side is Iraqi Jewish. The Grandparents were definitely born in Iraq. The music is our version of the tunes sung by the Iraqi Jewish community in the UK (and of course in Israel). Some are Iraqi tunes and others Jewish. Lots of fun!
Go to hell. Seriously. They don't "steal " music: they are influenced by the places they live in and come to appreciate. You should actually celebrate this.
More love and blessings and congrats for the beautiful jewish people from Iraq ❤🙏

The family is Iraqi and apparently the Jews wore the red fez in Iraq. I also thought the headgear was North African.
Interesting. I’ll have to ask the family where their roots are. Thanks.
