📍The Fa Yeun Street Market is one of two that you can visit along Fa Yuen Street in the Mongkok District. It is basically an outdoor bazaar, situated between Prince Edward West Road to the north and Mongkok Road to the south, similar to what you may have encountered at the Jardine's Crescent Market (Causeway Bay), the Wanchai (Cross & Tai Yuen Streets) Market and others around the city where you are more likely to find locals than tourists.
The Fa Yuen Street Market is busy all of the time, be it weekday or weekend. Locals come here to purchase fruits, vegetables and other food items, low cost clothing, shoes, accessories and household products. During holiday periods, you'll find stalls selling festival decorations and items, particularly around Chinese New Year. Unlike the nearby Ladies Market which is geared more for tourists and rather quiet these days due to pandemic related travel restrictions for entering Hong Kong, the Fa Yuen Street Market is still rather crowded and buzzing with activity.
The other market you can find along Fa Yuen Street is further south and is referred to as Sneaker Street. This is where you will find a cluster of shoe shops dealing in athletic, dress and casual footwear. This market is between Argyle Street to the north and Dundas Street to the south and is worth a visit as well if you plan to spend time in the Mongkok District checking out the various street markets and shopping centres.
