Just wanna say that I love listening to you guys! You both are extremely well-versed critics and can so eloquently explain your opinions. Really educative stuff! Keep going, you're are a valuable source for film lovers!
I love it that older actresses like Kidman and Moore are starring in movies that are powerful and have a voice and aren't in movies where they are playing the sassy matriarch. Is this becoming the norm in Hollywood or are there still too few examples?
"Notes on a Scandal" is one of my favourite movies & I'm a younger male who has had several relationships with older women. So this movie will be right up my street. I can't wait till it comes out over here in the UK. Harris Dickinson is like a male Margaret Qualley. He could easily sell out in his young age and do conventional movies. But like Qualley he picks interesting scripts and challenges himself.
@kellyrob4296 She, Dench and the dialogue are fantastic. I love that the fact it's 90 minutes. I miss the days when movies were perfectly edited. No fat. Just straight to the point. In and out.
I saw this last week. Such a fascinating character study. The choice to rarely move away from Kidman’s face during the intimate scenes really adds so much to the performance because you are really with her through all the steps of this and all the emotion playing out on her face. Really good movie. Probably one of the year’s best
Why do you think west loves women cheating on their husbands and face no consequences and in the end husband is made to accept characterless wife, but the reverse is not prevalent. Also why is this movie high on your list ,why do you enjoy women cheating on their husbands movie
it is nice to be able to be proud again of something Dutch. Lovely to see that her phenomenal acting expertise and experience, contribute to a directing (and writing) skill she is ready to expand and explore
If you love Harris Dickinson, I highly recommend an indie UK film from last year named "Scrapper." Wonderful little slice-of-life drama about a 12 year old who steals bikes. You all definitely made me excited for this movie!
My sons & I usually see a film on Christmas Day but I think I wanna see this one alone! Maybe we can all go see Nosferatu, A Royal Pain or A Complete Unknown together and I can stay after and have a Babygirl nightcap because I’m dying to see this one! One of my most anticipated!🎁
Oh no I had no idea this was the same director as Bodies Bodies Bodies… I was not into that one very much but babygirl seems like a much better film. Just my opinion of course.
I’ll have to check that one out! I saw 35 movies in the theaters this year, I enjoy 2024 for theatrical release is more than last year or so about 20 something movies both 2024 and 2023 were great. I’m excited for 2025 as of now my most anticipated movie for 2025 is Companion.
@@BreakfastAllDay ok I'll take that as an answer but only because you guys are my favorite but I don't agree, you can't actualy rate the move almost 10/10 and then nuke the performance which most like takes the globe drama and is oscar competitive, in fact it ought to win oscar but anyway
The best shortcut to finding a good movie is to just go to anything that isn’t by the big five Hollywood studios. A24 making a good movie yet again doesn’t surprise me at all.
Wowza! I've rarely seen you guys give a 9 to anything. But then all the other critics seem to be raving about it too. Do you think Kidman has a chance at the second Oscar? Bit of a messy year for Lead Actress, but she's already won the Volpi Cup in Venice, and the National Board of Review, and Palm Springs International Film Festival for this performance. She's also overdue, and there's no clear frontrunner in the category yet.
Not sure about how other groups' voting works, but in general it's all about building consensus. Who knows whether Kidman was #3 or #4 once the numbers shook out? But she's probably in the conversation.
I don’t know how I feel about this movie. It feels uncomfortable… so, I guess that is the objective… hahaha…. Good to hear it is a solid movie all around…
A Complete Unknown, I saw it at a screening recently and lives up to the hype. It's a great character study about young Bob Dylan, his music and his relationships. Go see it!!
@@davidfilmexpert Bonzo was asking if there were any Christmas-themed movies coming out on Christmas Day. In other words, Babygirl and Nosferatu have nothing to do with Christmas soooo . . .
@@WaitingtoHit Not on Christmas but there are many new Christmas films that released recently like The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Christmas Eve in Miller's Point, Nutcrackers on Hulu and an animated film That Christmas on Netflix.
I have to call out one point. Kidman is certainly not expressive anymore facially. We are currently watching the second season of Lioness and while Kidman has always been a good actress nowadays her face can't move at all and she has to do everything with her voice and eyes. To be honest it bugs me that reviewers seem afraid to say the obvious when some actors plastic surgery is getting very obvious and in their way acting wise. Now men as well as women these days.

Serendipity! I was just searching your channel for a review of Babygirl and you posted it a minute ago ❤
And we're two weeks early!
@ A torturous two week wait! I haven’t seen it but I’m already sure this one’s gonna be in my top 10 of the year.

Cate Blanchet was so good in it!

I'm frustrated that the better films are all dropping on Christmas day.
I can't wait to see this wholesome family affair 🤗!
Kidman has been crushing these roles for years
It sounds like a Nicole Kidman's version of "Emmanuelle".
"Unfaithful" popped in my head watching this trailer, I am a bit surprised how high your scores were w/ the story/plot seeming a bit too familiar.
Unfaithful was a beautiful one; much better than that last Lyne film - was it called Dark Water, w/ Affleck & Ana de Armas?? I love his old films…
Saw a special screening of this with a q&a with the director Helene who is a breathe of fresh air. This movie will be high on my top 10 list!
How fun!

Both Nosferatu and Baby Girl will be my last theatrical Films Of 2024!
Don't forget about A Complete Unknown! I've seen at a screening and it truly lives up to the hype, it's a great experience in the theater.

ok I've waited for this review, and you guys didn't disappoint now explain how she didn't make your la critics list?
Lots of names get mentioned, it's just a matter of math. It's a very competitive year.

Marianne Jean-Baptiste is getting a lot of buzz, both LA and NY critics circles chose her as best actress 😯

Sometimes we like things!
Another winner for A24?
I'm so excited for this movie!!!!
So they just made another movie about justifying woman cheating on her husband
Why this movie is not getting love from the regional critics award ?

That is the point but it's also about liberation.
Hmm it sounds a bit like The Piano Teacher no?
The Piano Teacher asks for something like this, and he rejects her and assaults her. It’s one of the least sexy movies ever.
Babygirl? Nosferatu? Any Christmas movies coming out for Christmas?

Eyes Wide Shut is boring, shallow, and has nothing of note. I do not understand cinephiles affection for it.
Bad time to be making films about CEO's.
Yuck no part of my wants to imagine face tight narcissist Kidman naked but always luv y’all’s reviews
