    A new mutton tour , this time to Southern Africa and I eased myself in with a farmers market trip. Farmers markets while popular around the world are extremely popular in South Africa and the Oranjezicht market was up there with the best of them for quality and variety. All reviews impartial and all food and drink paid for by myself.

    As you might remember, my wife is South African, and i've been to Cape Town numerous times....very much looking forward to this portion of your tours in particular. For the record, I am currently eating biltong while watching :)

      I was told I couldn’t import it but I guess there are places to buy it here

      @@primemutton There is South African community in and around the west midlands - We have friends that make their own biltong and boerwors. There are also places to buy, but a lot of these are imported and don't taste nearly as good.

      @@gizzydrop there’s one place I’ve spotted I. The NQ here in the PRM . I might do a little series in the summer here comparing the dishes here to those I had in their respective countries.

    Hey mutton , another great video 😊in my neighbourhood in New Zealand we have a large community of Japanese people and they all cook with Japanese charcoal. I once went to a barbecue party last year that the Japanese community was hosting and asked why using Japanese charcoal was so important compared to using ordinary charcoal and the guy said “ it’s because it’s reusable and it sears the meat quickly making it crusty caramelised with a rich smoky flavour” ever since then I’ve used Japanese charcoal on my family barbecues because it seems to be the more you use the charcoal the more richer the smoke flavour becomes. Anyway thank you for sharing your journeys in Cape Town with us I can’t wait for the next one 😎😊

      I went to New Zealand a fair few times many years ago but didn’t do much culinary touring , I can imagine some of the same techniques might be used .

    why is the camera blurry?

    • @primemutton
      @primemutton  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is at times because of the light . I cannot use extra lighting without upsetting other customers and hence risking getting thrown out . Think about it , would you like it if you were at such and establishment and had a bright light shining in your face . I’ve had similar queries about sound at football matches . Again it’s a question of what you’re allowed to bring in .
      I wouldn’t say it’s particularly blurry though

    • @primemutton

      If you look carefully , what you’re getting is glare from the bright lights in the background . I can assure you it was close to impossible to avoid . Again I’d need my own extra bright light to compensate. If you look at my next video about the wineries which was mostly filmed in daylight with the same camera . An then if you look back at the videos when taken at night in Pakistan , there are often lamps or bright lights intermittently positioned , which makes it impossible A) to avoid , and B) doesn’t lighten the background evenly .

      @@oryzaazizul70 thanks , I have 3 cameras , all ok in low light , but again discretion is important as while some (especially in Pakistan ) were itching to be in my films , some in the western world aren’t so keen on people filming so in crowded places I use the DJI pocket 2 . At football matches just my phone (iPhone 12 pro) as you’re strictly limited to what you can bring in . Obv matches In daylight are easy , but even at night , the floodlights spread the light evenly so ensure a good picture

      @@oryzaazizul70 if it interests you , I used two cameras on my Burns Road street food tour video . If you jump into the 5 minute mark , you’ll see footage at first from my pocket 2 and then from my Sony ZV1 with a shotgun mic . You’ll even see me using the pocket 2 as the ZV1 was Parked half way down the the next table (those eating there were very kind and let me set up ) there’s not a huge difference in the light (room was well lit ) but the ZV1 was better , hard though unless you have an arrangement with the restaurant or an empty restaurant to use it .
