I'm sorry, but Ai did not abandon Annie. She (Ai) wasn't strong enough to take care of Annie, so they (caregivers) had to take care of Annie until she was health and familiar with her family. When Annie was ready to get back to the family, Ai didn't reconize Annie as her child, but she treated Annie as a little friend that needed special attention, because she is a very loving gorilla. Shabani always knew that Annie was his child. He never left her side when the caregivers brouht and showed Annie throuh the bars. Shabani's family is amazing!
@toe the line foolish to think Aii does not remember Annie has her baby. These are highly intelligent animals with amazing memories. A gorilla once remembered how poachers murdered his mother and communicated this via sign language. Aii and Shabani know its their daughter, but...due to Nene being a highly dominate female , I suspect she rejected it for that reason. Nene brutally attacked Annie as a baby and if it wasnt for Shabani, Nene would have killed her and Aii would have done nothing.
@toe the line your r right..bcoz you se another gorilla group in Japan Momotaro's family ..the same things happens.. there is a gorilla child name gentaro , when he was born he was weak and his mother did not produce milk for breast feeding,so zoo keeper rise him 10 months,then he reunion with his mom ginki after 10 months,his mother recognise his son and father too...but here Ai abounded Anni and then accept her like a frnd, and father sahabani still recognise her....u r right...
Shabani is very observant and he loves his children so much. This guy is such a big Ole teddy bear. His eyes say so much without saying anything❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ai I think she taking some sort of pill. Bc she had bad experience twice. First one was misscarrige(I believe) Second one was Annie. She Shaw no interest to her newborn. So zoo keeper have to hand raised her about 1yr. So now they don’t wanna second Annie again. Therefor,she never estrus.

And you are right, they were both hand raised from birth by the zoo caretakers (Gentaro for 10 months and Annie for a little over a year). Gentaro is 2 years older than Annie. He will turn 10 in December. Momo (Gentaro's father) was 11 when Gentaro was conceived. Although Genki is 15 years older than Momo.
Gorillas don’t committed incest. He’s just grooming her as Nene does to K. Etc, etc. her mother doesn’t do for her and he’s the one that always did. Humans see sex on everything!
