The tenorissimo Marcello Giordani magnificently sings ''ô souverain, ô juge, ô père'',from Jules Massenet's opera ''Le Cid'' on the occasion of the 1997 Richard Tucker Gala. I've personally contacted Maestro Giordani to ask him permission (that he has granted me) to upload this video on TH-cam. In my opinion, Marcello Giordani is offering here a very vibrant, emotional and outstanding rendition of this superb aria. Bravo Maestro!

Having known him in what proved to be the last years of his career, he kept his voice intact despite taking on roles that were overly taxing for his voice. He was a doting husband and a great father to his sons. If only he been more self-disciplined about his physical health, his voice might still be heard and applauded as it was in his prime.

I heard Giordani live several times during the 16 years I lived in NYC. I always loved his beautiful lyric voice, and intelligent singing. I worried when I saw this, because I feared like other lyric tenors he had been seduced into over singing. This is a difficult aria imo. Thankfully, he sings it with his voice, doesn't push or over sing. Bravo! RIP

There was an amazing duet with Renee Fleming, from I Puritani, that was on TH-cam but has suddenly disappeared. Does anyone have this please, as it is an incomparable performance worth seeing? I think it was from a Lincoln Centre broadcast in 1991. I'd love to see this again.
