As a panel beater by trade the only way to repair your tyre gate is to carefully unpick the skin off the frame sandblasting both after tapping all the dents out epoxy prime it all and plug weld it back together using UPOL copper weld through primer then it will out last me you and my son it’s good you diy fellas are having a go but seriously yous definitely do things the hard way

@@michaelbyrnes7944 Lmfao yeah take that on the chin. Have got a spare so I may indeed do what you said if Imynit happy with results. Doing that for that tailgate and doors but thought might get away with it on this. Really appreciate your input bud. Had some work done on the tray and it's really expensive and adds up quick which is why I'll do what I can
      Thanks for watching Regards Steve

@@factoryrestosaustralia yeah cool I know how you feel panel Beaters don’t come cheap now in my opinion and time in the trade with doing resto on older cars for instance I have a 64 EH holden Ute that is rust free in all the top of the body like quarter panels roof gutters and wipper box front floors are ok and the inner and outer sills are rust free BUT the whole rear floor pan was rotten from water sitting in it so rather than go try find a donor car for the rear floor it will quicker and cleaner and brand new making my own rear floor and rails now one other thing to remember yes I could copy the rusted one and make the Ute all original again or I can be even quicker and neater by buying a 4 link rail set up already made fit myself and remanufacture custom floor pans all around it to suit new modern suspension coil overs and shorten 9 inch diff so pretty much the tools required are bead roller big metal folder English wheel stretcher shrinker proper hand tools Dolly’s and hammers oxy tig and mig and maybe a sheet roller for shaping big sections so my eh ute will look original from the outside but will have a new guts I’m thinking be different as I’m a ford man I’ll put a small block Windsor 302 in with c4 all ford driveline now in your world to neatly unpick a panel van floor and neatly weld it into a Ute is a good idea but the issue I see is can you neatly un pick it with out wrecking it to retain the originality of the ford ?

@@michaelbyrnes7944 Yeah I'm really trying to keep this ute all original as it was un molestered ute in very original condition with matching number engine. You can buy floor panels for them but I decided to buy a donor van and do it the hard way.
The EH will be nice specially with a 302 in it sounds very interesting

What was the short drill bit you were using?

That's a spot weld drill bit. Very flat cutting flutes with a centre bit to keep it centred. U can cut one layer of sheet metal and leave the other below uncut. They're brilliant
      Thanks for watching
