I knew it. I knew even TOOL members get mesmerized by Danny's drumming. I swear, the man's an alien. Sometimes it really feels like, there are 2 drummers playing on the track, but it's just Danny Carey being the best drummer on the planet.

A JW I met Justin Chancellor two months ago at a red light. He was in the passenger seat, I walked up to him and asked to shake his hand and take a photo. He was super nice and friendly and he gave me a copy of their new cd. Even offered me tickets to their show because I told him they sold out before I could get any. Awesome guy

I saw Tool in Pittsburgh. As soon as they were done the singer quickly left the stage, but the musicians took their time and went to all three sides of the stage and took time to thank the audience. Adam Jones is a class act.

I have followed these four great men of music and poetry since 1991. For me, Tool and Deep Purple give me 'power', in a spiritual sense. They help me, 'chin-up' and push-on. I'm 64 years old, a bust-up, cut-up, former hard-rock tin miner. I do not offer praise easily, nor do I expect it unless earned. Hard rock makes hard men, so 'they' say. "BS", says I. I thoroughly respect these men.
I've been a Tool fan for decades, like most people. But I've never actually listened to an interview with any of them. And I always had it in my head that they were aloof and disinterested people. Their music is so intricate, so rare, that's the impression I got. But Adam Jones is such a sweet sounding guy!
Mostly just Maynard that was aloof and disinterested in the majority of interviews at least in the late 90s/early 00s, though he’s lightened up a lot in recent years.
Not as cool as your story but right before Covid I saw them in San Diego and at the end of the show I pointed at him and he pointed back at me! Such a cool connection. I smiled for like three days straight.
Met him in person in SLC as he was going in for soundcheck. He was super cool, humble and gracious as my brother and I talked to him for a couple minutes and got pics with him. Then he asked me to take pics of him in front of their banner with HIS phone, and he did a bunch of funny poses. He thanked us both for coming to the show later that night and hoped we would have a good time. So cool to meet a musical hero, and find out they are the opposite of a douchebag!
Met Adam in Auckland last week - he was lost outside our hotel - had a good ten minute chat on things, super nice guy, so much respect for him to take the time ..

I have tickets to see them at the end of this month, but sadly the show has been postponed due to the Covid-19 madness. I don't know if they'll go back to New Zealand or Austrailia. I hope they do so you could experience this amazing tour.
One thing I love about Tool is that the whole band has the sensibility of artists, like painters or sculptors. Everything they make feels like it could be part of a heavy metal gallery opening. It all feels so experimental and thematic, with both surface and deeper meanings. Rhythm, harmony, polymeter, distortion, compression...everything is done in the service of the song, and everything feels purposeful. And the live shows are just mesmerizing.
Adam, Justin and Danny seem like the nicest guys you could possibly meet. Maynard seems to be a bit harder work but I'm sure he has his loving moments also. I just love listening to their work. I wasn't able to sleep tonight so I just threw on Fear Inoculum and lay in bed with my headphones on. It sort of defeated the purpose, because here I am now out of bed looking up Tool related videos when I should be fast asleep!

The First time I saw Tool live the crowd went crazy at the end with so much appreciation and gratefulness and the sat at the edge of the stage and were super humble and I was amazed.
The main reason I like TOOL is because the only reason they are better live than the album is the music is louder. Best live band I've seen in over 350 live concerts.
