Luke 23: 43 explicitly refutes the concept of "purgatory". For you who don't know, a criminal was crucified beside Jesus. He personally testified to his own guilt and to the justice he received upon a cross. To such a "sinner" Jesus said "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."
You can either believe in Jesus and know that the instant your mortal life ends you will be with Him, or you can follow the Pope on Twitter to get a coupon for time off in purgatory.

According to 2 Thessalonians 2:15 and John 21:25 not eveything got written down in the Bible----some doctrines are passed down in the Church by word of mouth only. Until about 35 or 39 a.d., when Matthew was written, there were no New Testament books and the entire Gospel was transmitted by word of mourh only.
Having said that, Purgatory IS in the Bible. See 2 Maccabees 12:43-46, Matthew 5:25-26, Luke 12:58-59, and 1 Corinthians 3:13-15.
Thank God for Purgatory. Without it only perfect people could go to Heaven, according to Revelation 21:27 and Matthew 5:48.

Even if purgatory existed, it wouldn't be for Catholics because heaven is for those who love Jesus passionately in this life, who are committed totally to Him, who obey Him as Lord, who repent at His cross and who look forward to joining Him in His kingdom for ever.

Every time anybody references the Bible they are, in effect, referencing a Catholic library. The Bible IS a Catholic library, an anthology of books compiled by the Church at the Council of Hippo, 393 a.d.

He taught from the Greek Septuagint, it would have been easy for Him to say "btw, these books are not actually Scriptural", the only reason you're against those books is because Martin Luther personally disagreed with parts of the Bible, 1500 years after Christ, and decided to remove them, and many followed him. imagine if I were to remove seven books from the New Testament because I personally didn't believe in them? what a massive sin!

Morality matters but it's the result of Holy Spirit working in your life and thus proof that you are saved.
This isn't OT judaism or roman catholicsm, where we try to earn salvation with works because as the bible says our good works are filthy rags to the Lord.
@@joey86bu1 Good works that are worthy of God cannot be done without God's grace, and good works done while not in the state of grace are as filthy rags towards our eternal salvation. Faith has to become before good works. But thete are so-called Christians who have faith in God who never do anything to help anybody besides themselves, and the rich man in the Lazarus/rich man parable is the prime exame of this. Believers who refuse to help other people will not be saved, no matter how many altar calls they have answered, no matter how many heart-felt hallelujahs they shout, or how much Bible reading they do.
Faith in Christ means faith in everything Christ taught, including that good works are necessary for salvation (Matthew 25:31-46).

Matthew 5:25-26, Luke 12:58-59 is about making amends with your enemies while giving a gift to the Lord.
