I learned this in a sociology class in college. When there is a minority ethnic group in a population, what happens universally is the minority will try to find pride in being different than the majority. They’ll try to counter the majority, so in a sense black people find pride in being against what white cultural values are encouraging. For the US, this is being educated, getting married for life and having kids, being patriotic and law abiding, being polite and humble. Stereotypes (based in reality unfortunately) of the black community: uneducated, broken families, criminals, ostentatious and prideful. I don’t say that to say all black people are like that but look at what stereotypical black culture pushes and it’s all of that. Shaming black people for talking white or being a square are examples of that desire to be anti white.

We need more black pride. This happens because we constantly try to differentiate ourselves from each other. It’s challenging to unite when there’s so much division within the Black community. Statements like, "I’m not Black, I’m mixed," "I’m light-skinned," "they’re ghetto," "he’s nothing," "she’s nothing,", etc. only serve to further fragment us. In the end, we all lose because someone thinks they are winning. Our opposition see’s this and says, “I’ll just attack that” and it works every time.
