On "My Car Story" we're at a Car Show in Huntley IL on 9-24-16.
We're looking at a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T RT in White Paint with a 440 Engine.
The car's Owner is Chuck Hufty. Chucks has this car since 1999. He shares his love of cars started at 7 years old when he and a Friend would open the hood on his Friends Grandma’s Desoto and look at the car's engine. This 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T has gone through a restoration and looks wonderfully like it came off the show room floor.
ENJOY!

That is a gorgeous car. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure sharing this car with you :-)
My parents had a 1968 Dodge Coronet with the bench front seat and " 3-on-the-tree" manual transmission. I used to ride around in it as a kid. Awesome car, this brings back memories of my childhood.
Hi Yo Lo, Glad to read this car brings back wonderful memories :-) Lou
Nothing like the sound of a Cam!! Love the R/T Thanks Lou!!:)
Agreed, this engine start up was a nice surprise :-)
The white with white steels wheels and caps is a sharp combo! She sounds good! As my dad would say she's talkin!!!
Hi James Myers, I like that "she's talkin" nice! Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou Costabile lol yea I like it too. No problem thanks for all the great videos.

I owned a 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 with two four barrels. Rue the day I traded it in for a different car. Still have the

Dodge Coronet RT 440 w/two four-barrels. loved that car.
Some of the most elegant looking things are minimalist and this car looks and says a lot! Beautiful!
Hi Kohoko, Well said. Lou
I remember reading an old Mopar ad on the 440 Magnum. The Mad Men era ad read "It goes 'rumpety-rumpety-rump'. " The ad goes on to talk about the high-lift cam in the engine. This Dodge just reminded me of that ad.
Hi Michael Bacon, Very cool :-) Thank you for sharing, Lou
The Coronet will always have my heart, particularly the 1968 model! I'm hoping to get my hands on one soon!
Hi dmcvergilfan, Glad you enjoyed this one :-) Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, and regarding the 1968, hope you get yours soon. Lou

68' Coronet My Fave Mopar. My Parents had a 68' Coronet 500 with The 383. I was 5 when they bought it off the show room floor. Wish they saved it for Me.
Hi Johnny Yum, Glad to video one of your favorites :-) Lou
ahhhh!!!! nothin like an ole "Mopar" i even love the old starter sound when they spin tha flywheel over. i'v heard older guys says it sounds like its "crying" when it spins. i love that sound of these old cars!!
It does kinda sound like it's crying. That's funny, Lou
yea exactly, especially when they dnt startup right away!!!
I like the '68's taillights.

Hi Peter Hipnotico, Glad to read this is your favorite engine sound :-) You're welcome, Lou
I messed up giving my 69 RT back to my brother. But I prefer the 68's round marker lights. Can't go back in time. Love your videos. They bring back a lot of memories.

That is a nice Coronet. From the side its looks alot like a Charger of the same year.
Hi David, So clean. I was glad to video and share this one. Thank you for commenting, Lou
I had one these 68 Coronet/RT's in Forest Green. It didn't have AC, Power steering, or power brakes, all the power went to the back wheels. I bought it used in 1971 for $1200.00, what a bargain when you look at today's prices. The steering and brakes could be real fun if you drove through a puddle of water and only got the tires and brakes wet on one side. When you hit the brakes the steering wheel would pull so damn hard to the dry side that it would almost brake your arms.
I had the 440 Magnum with a four speed and that car would really pull when you got on the gas. I had American Mags on it with G60/15 tires in the rear, jacked up just enough to fit the tires underneath, and the car was a real head turner. When the Arab oil embargo started, I could no longer afford to feed it with gas, so I had to sell it like many other Muscle car owners did. I sure do miss the days when gas was $0.25 cents per gallon, and you could buy most Muscle cars for $4000.00 to $6000.00 dollars brand new, and much cheaper for the used ones.
BTW, My father was so kind to buy it for me when I was sixteen.
Hi Jack Taylor, Sounds like you had a great car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
The white ghost mopar
Nice :-)
Me gusta el carro
Hi Jose, Happy to read you like this car :-) Lou
Does anyone know what mufflers this car has? This is one of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard.
Hi Jose, Happy to read "This is one of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard." :-) Unfortunately, I'm not sure what exhaust this car has on it. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou
@loucostabile I'm in Illinois, so I'll probably run into Chuck at a show events.
Looks like a base model car, akin to a Chevy Biscayne, but I would bet that Coronet can fly. Also, that body style just lends itself to being upgraded, but would you want to?
Hi senorkaboom, "but would you want to?" I'd keep it as is, Lou
Glad you got my point, Lou.
I'm currently restoring a 68 coronet 440 myself but I can't find the side trim moulding anywhere, does anyone know where I can find it?
Plymouth are you on the east coast
scatpack68 no I'm located in east Texas
The trim side molding was for the standard vehicles. The HP cars were minus the side chrome. so if you're building a clone R/T or SuperBee....just weld in the mounting holes and paint'er up. As a side note, the Coronets with the side chrome also had the chrome extend down threw the base, outside of the window. The HP vehicles had the chrome stop in the lower rear corner. Its an easy way to note if its a clone car you're looking at.
Hi Caelan Reeves, eBay? Mopar Facebook sites? Hope you find the part you're looking for soon, Lou
I never understood why Dodge went so left field when they created the 70 Coronet
Not sure.
why is the engine shaking that much?
It's ANGRY ! :-)
I am in love with your car. Wish I could touch her (with gloves on, of course)
Hi VW, Happy to read you are in love with this car :-) Lou
It's a shame that an Iconic American brand, Chrysler and Dodge, is now being made in Canada!
Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts.
That taxi cab needs a bumblebee stripe or some wheels.
Hi Nick Dulak, Clearly this one in this condition is not for you :-( Hope you see many cars on this TH-cam Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
@@loucostabile these were fantastic cars in any trim. I was a Dodge parts manager and drag racer in the 70's. Direct Connection rules!
Doesn't sound good at all…guy next door has one ..it's like thunder & smooth.
Hi, the neighbor's car sounds good.
Tjfreak it has a bigger cam in it, that's why is not smooth. This is better than smooth
I am in love with your car. Wish I could touch her (with gloves on, of course)
Mine was CORONET RT
Hi VM, High praise :-) Lou
