Concerning Buzz punching a guy at 16:23, there's some important background info. The guy had continually harassed him about this for some time. The conspiracy theorist tricked Buzz into meeting him under the pretext that he was making an appearance on a Japanese children's TV show and then got in his face calling him a coward, a liar, and a thief as he chased him afterwards. It wasn't "just" Buzz punching him because the guy asked him to swear on a Bible.

NASA hired Stanley Kubrick to film the moon landing, but he was a perfectionist so he insisted on filming on location.

The title cut off after "The Stanley". I was secretly hoping it would be something insane about The Stanley Parable.

I actually watched 2001 for the first time this year because a friend of mine had to watch it for a class, and wasn't sure if it was bad or if she was missing something. I dutifully had a few drinks and gave it a go. I was astounded by the artistry of each frame. I probably added an hour to the watch time because of the number of times I stopped the movie to point out something that caught my attention, and texted an analysis of the shot. Definitely one of the most beautiful movies I've seen.

It is a monumental movie but I can fully see people nowadays having a hard time getting into the movie because it is not like modern movies, or most other movies in general.

the discussion of the idea of people starting to believe in the moon landings less reminds me of the scene in Interstellar set in the 2060's where Matthew McConaughey is incredulous that the school board is saying it was just cold war propaganda.

Look into Gordon Cooper, Mercury mission. He spotted magnetic anomalies on the Earth while he was in orbit and actually made a treasure map of sunken ships.

No doubt Stanley incorporated a lot of astronaut themes and imagery into The Shining. The simple explanation to it is that he was simply interested in space more so than he actually did anything for NASA. I mean hell, he made an entire movie about space so it's clear that it was one of his many interests.

Did the US really win the space race? I mean, "Russia" was first on pretty much everything except boots on the moon. They even got probes to Mars.

Great episode, guys. Its really interesting to me how people start to believe in crazy conspiracy theories like that. BTW I know it's kind of a touchy subject (especially right now) but as someone who's not american i would really like a full series trying to explain wft q-anon is exactly and why so many people believe it

As pointed out in the sketch link I posted, the biggest cost for putting men on the moon is the giant rocket you need to build and launch to convince people you went to the moon.
It's more cost effective to fake the moon landing on the moon..

When in comes to war, and this was a Cold War effort, I think it’s abundantly clear the USA is willing to spend infinite amounts of money.

I'm really curious to know how many moon landing conspiracists believe that only the 1969 landing was fake but subsequent landing were real or that all landing were fake because you never really hear about the faking of the other missions.

    • @ChilluminatiPod
      @ChilluminatiPod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

And that all the failures leading up to the landing would have to be faked as well

Question isn't if they got to the Moon. Question is how they got back if they did.

What was all this conspiracy shitting? Lol I’m just saying Aldrin and Armstrong have stars on the Hollywood walk of Fame. Remember who you are Chilluminati, in the words of Mufasa. I’m unfamiliar with this emotional attachment (at least from the Schiller) Question: Marianas trench and the moon, I think the trench was 62’ when a submarine travelled to the bottom and the sun was breaking from the pressure and the moon in 69’ Both have never been repeated and both missions say the technology cannot be duplicated or is lost and we can never go back, when we clearly have excelled in technological advances. Look up Buzz tells a 6 year old we never went to the moon , I do not expect an Apollo gy (pun) but reinvestigate from the conspiracy side. That being said I’m like 10 minutes in I always do this Fucking love y’all!

Hollywood walk of fame means nothing. Someone else pays for it and for them specifically the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce gave them a star for the first televised moon landing. I feel that’s pretty straight forward.
You’re regurgitating false misinformation about having lost the technology too! That’s simply not true! I’ve seen that same argument everywhere and it’s super confusing why it spreads so easily but if you go read into it, nobody ever said we lost it. We still have it! We do have the technology to go back, we never lost it that’s just some crazy misinformation that’s quickly and easily passed around. It’s literally a matter of cost, and technology differential. That’s like saying why does it take years to develop a new car when it shares the same design as most regular cars. Because tech changes and costs go way up. NASA isn’t rolling in dough, hence the team up with private companies lately. And the complexity and cost to build something like that is crazy, ie: The Saturn V rocket had over 3 million parts alone. This isn’t easy to do. And when the Apollo program ended all their factories etc shut down with them. All means of production would need to start up, designs, technology etc you’re talking billions during a non Cold War time when America really only spends that kinda money on military now, which is not at their fingertips.
The answer isn’t sexy and easy which I realize sells better (“we lost the tech!”), and there’s so much more to the answer that is free for people to research, but we can and will go back to the moon, hence the team up with the private sector lately like space X.

We are done. I get it. You need to make money. Too much time was spent at the beginning begging for money. Then, there was the advertisement just shoved into the show. Now your hucking Patreon AGAIN... this show used to be fun and interesting. Now it is just commercial crap. Good job taking something great and driving it into a wall.
