Thank you Eric for posting this video on Moperc. Off the bat, I'm convinced that once you've invested in their line of drums, that it is a life time of holding on to their product because of the craftsmanship that is meticulously applied with pride and care to each drum. Those stainless steel fittings and hardware has blown me away while other conga drums with chrome plated ones due rust in time.
Again Eric thank you.
It's a dream of mine to own a pair of these one day. Been following them for quite some time. I absolutely adore the process and the love they put into their craft.
Bravo à Francis et au staff de Moperc, ces gens sont sérieux et talentueux.
Loved the video! You’re a great ambassador for MOPERC!
That's crazy!! I never realized the staves were cut like that. Thanks
I bought a Q-C-T set about 10 years ago from Michel. I have a good many other drums but nothing comes close. Playing any of my drums is my escape and meditation but perhaps the most surprising thing is the sheer joy I get playing my Mopercs. Simply-they are the BEST.
Great video. I love my Moperc bongos.
❤ Outstanding video maybe in the next couple of years I'll get three or four Thanks
Francis made me a q-c-t out of mahogany all from the same tree. (Poncho Sanchez series) And???Sonic Perfection!!! And I think kind of a rare thing. But you would have to ask Francis about that. But I do know these drums make me sound almost as good as you. Ha! Ha! THATS HOW GOOD MOPERC DRUMS ARE!!!
Siempre pensé que las tablillas eran dobladas con calor, nunca me imaginé que fueran cortadas de una vez con la curva. Increíble!!!
Mucho amor para Eric y su canal. Y pura candela Moperc!
Excellent video E. I really enjoyed this one. 👍
Great video. Now I have much more respect for this industry.
Definitely I'm buying a pair of this congas 😮
Excellent video Eric . Thank you MOPERC TEAM for crafting my amazing looking and sounding drums during the pandemic time ! I know it wasn’t easy but you guys managed to get the work done during this tuff time. And from my experience owning this state of the art sounding drums I truly can say THEY ARE WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY ! the quality and sound it’s a total bargain for the money.
Thank you for sharing and showing how to make the Conga, I can enjoy playing the conga now better. From Alabama
I heard the raw sound of Moperc Tambor on a video of some brothers from Matanzas playing Columbia awesome piece of drumming.
Finally! I've been waiting for this one to drop. Awesome tour, awesome company, awesome people, AWESOME DRUMS! Wish it was an hour longer haha. Spectacular to see how our drums are made. Worth every penny.
Perfect Thanksgiving video 😉
Thank you, guys 🙏🏼
Great tour, Eric! You brought all the stuff I've been writing about to life! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

HUGE THANK YOU!
Thank you for showing this video. Absolutely awesome drums and very worth it! I love my drums!! 🪘
This was great Eric! thanks for bringing us in with you!
💥🎶🪘🪘Wow incredible, calidad y muy interesante ver cómo un artesano puede mantener nuestra SaLsa viva y en ritmo, Gracias🎶💥🌴🪇✌🏽
That shop is impressively clean! Nice equipment and tooling! I wonder what it looks like on a normal production day and am surprised they stored kiln dried lumber outside.
Our wood is stored inside. When we receive the bundle, it's cut outside the same day and leave it in the shop for 2 weeks before starting the process.
@@franafrokan Oh. That makes more sense. You guys must work really hard to keep that shop clean. I spent some time as a student, making ashikos. Everything was hand sanded and scrapped after glue up. We all wanted a lathe, but the "boss" said he didn't believe in shaping on a lathe. (It was also cheaper for him since student labor was free :).
Awesome sound track in the background!
Respect guys !!
Happy Thanksgiving my Brother!!! That is a great video!!!!
Amazing piece of work Francis and Moperc 🔥🔥 thank you Eric!
I’ve been buying MOPERC drums since 2016 and from my experience they’re the best manufactured and sounding drums out there. I’ve had drums made by Michel (the original founder) and Francis, so it’s incredible to see just how the standard has not only been maintained, but raised. Big props to Francis for keeping the tradition alive! 👏🏼
Excellent.
Love,love,this content bro…may you always be blessed!❤
Saludos Everybody,
yes, yes, yes !
A really cool video Eric, Thanks!
I have my Moperc 5pc. Custom Cubano satin green Ash Set. And it’s absolutely the best Set I have played in my life. A sonic bliss.
And now there are coming three more Moperc Congas for the classes with my students.
I love this real high quality drums.
All the best, keep on playing & stay tuned,
Christoph Kissel, Germany.
Excellent company. Thanks for sharing.
Nice papa, I took a tour of Pierna Percussion in Cali Colombia. This brought back memories. Awesome video
White Ash is a wonder wood. I started playing congas long before I began to work with ash for axe and tool handles. I like to dry a few pieces of ash on my wood stove because the moist wood just under the bark makes my workshop smell like butter. This place must smell like a bakery.
❤❤❤ hope someday can play those beautiful congas. Hello from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Gracias Eric por compartir tu video con nosotros. I always was curious about the process to make these conga drums. I have the Custom Cubano drums and I am very happy to have them at home. Francis you are the best!👍
Excelente sonido, me encantan, ya quisiera ser artista exclusivo de moperc, Bogotá-Colombia
Excellent sound, I love them, I would like to be an exclusive artist for moperc, Bogotá-Colombia
Hermosas Congas!👏
They know how to make great quality drums I been an lp guy but moperc it's making it hard for me to stick to lp. I definitely switching to MOPERC
I really like this video it’s very interesting how moperc congas are maid I just want you to know that I love congas bongos and any hand drum.❤
I would like to listen to the different kinds of woods used
❤❤❤❤❤
Who would of thought some French Canadians would be up there making Congas y Tumbadores.
Imagine when we started more than 30 years ago, in a small town with about 100 inhabitants, no internet, in the middle of nowhere with a lots of snow and temperatures hitting 30 below zero in the winter !
En la busca de unas buenas naves creo que con este video tomo ventaja esta marca, estetica impecable y sonido nítido, tambor hermoso
Couple of surprising things in this video. 4% is incredibly dry! Australian timber merchants kiln down to 7 then back up to between 10 and 13% with steam. Why so dry I wonder, given it's so much lower than ambient? Also cutting curved staves - that's unusual. Conventionally staves are cut straight and bent into shape. Assembly I guess is easier with pre-curved staves, but isnt there going to be a shaggy surface from tapering against the grain?
Hello! Our slabs are flat cut, our staves are quarter sawn. We don't work against the grain and the result is a better stability than steam bent. But you are right that wood grain changes along the staves, but anyway, we have better results on woodturning shells made with this technique rather than steam bent. 6-8% is the accepted moisture content of kiln dried lumber here in North America. The real stabilization of the cells happens as the lumber is brought down below 8%. We have extreme humidity changes here, if not controlled, it can vary from 30% to 80% in our shop and into most people houses. Opening windows on humid summertime days, heating full blast on winter time. Outside temperature also vary from -40 to +40 Celsius. We do our best to stay around 50% of humidity in the shop. Thanks for watching !
This was very cool ! Besides congas, do they make bongos too ?
They sure do!!!
No Quality Checks with a little play on a couple to the congas!!??
4:15 Can anyone explain how this mold is made to cut the piece?
Legal
You didn't show how the Bearing Edges are cut, the most important part of the drum. Well, they're cut on a Router Table and then hand sanded as close to human perfection as possible.
Please tell me how much bongo drum cost with my name printed in???
Ponle subtitulos bro. Nos interesa mucho

Is nobody going to mention that these are basically reproductions of vintage Valje congas out of San Francisco?
Sorry, but they are not. Our work is a bit closer to SOS and some Cuban drums from the 50's. Valje's had a different shape and the hardware design completely different

LOL...36!? Don't worry that's very young.
They dont show much about how they curve the wood.
Stacy, each individual stave is cut in its intended shape depending on the model (Cubano or Rumbero). Go to 2:31
@@daveperlowski but they don't show how the wood is curved. Wood is not naturally curved like that.
They cut it in that shape. What else did you want to know?
@@stacybarrs9765 Please watch the video again an listen carefully! It's all explained... We don't bend wood, we cut it from big slabs to its shape. Go to 2:30
In a recent video you made you complain how expensive Lps where and recommend not to buy...but yet you endorse Morpec which are by the way more expensive...mmmm...
😂
@@tunakokarcali A lot of people can afford them, thousands of drums sold in the last 5 years, and much more on the last 30 years. We have conga models starting at $900
Perhaps Eric was suggesting that comparatively speaking, Moperc is the better choice for the long run. The end of the video explains many reasons why this is true.
The most expensive Lp costs almost the price of the cheapest Moperc, and yet that Moperc is still way better
What Daniel stated is exactly what I meant… not saying don’t buy an LP… go ahead… but if you’re going to spend that amount for a drum… might as well invest in a Moperc which is made with actual solid stave wood and stainless steel hardware… speaking from someone that has owned LPs most expensive congas… 5 of them actually…
LP are better
🤣🤣🤣 And they cost $100 to make in Thailand
No offense to this company's craftsmanship and skill or this guy's video making ability but it's hilarious watching people explain extremely basic manufacturing techniques that are standards for almost all industries and not particularly special to these people the fact that these people are doing things by hand in an artisan styles with demands of premium not the manufacturing techniques or the materials.
Except this type of video and tour isn’t for people “in the know.” This is to educate the new consumer about the hand-crafted process and its benefits over mass production. Just because it isn’t for you it doesn’t mean it’s invaluable.
