This is what a functioning family looks like. There is so much childhood trauma in the world. It's nice to see a family where dad is still in the picture at this age and being loved and taken very good care of. ❤❤❤❤

Dan the love you have for your dad is wonderful. My dad left when we were small and my mum never ever showed me any. For this reason i said i would make sure I would show and also tell my daughter and granddaughter that i love them every day. I am so blessed to have stayed strong throughout my life to be able to know what the true meaning of love is. How lucky you your family are to have tbis great bond.

I think as we get older we become whatever is our core being. Ed appears to be a person who loves his family and is generally a caring person. Currently, I’m dealing with my stepmother who has been diagnosed with dementia. She sadly, has also been reduced to her core being which is not a very nice person. That creates its own challenges, but I guess the lesson there is patience.

I've watched several interactions with your Pops. We've all gotten to know he and the family. The funny and the frustrated. We've all learned so much from his side and from yours. This one though, I saw your dad. I did not see a Man with memory loss. I saw a man having a serious conversation with his son. It truly warmed my heart. How lovely it is for you to have your dad their to chat with.I can't have my dad unfortunately as he's in heaven.But the most I can do is go out to the care home where my mum is & I have to add this is a great care home it's situated in a lovely countryside village in the u.k .& In it is the pub that I used to go out with my parents & my siblings when I was a young child.& Allso When we all got older so it has a lot of memories for me. Unfortunately my dear mum is to poorly to walk now.So we can't visit.But it is a complete pleasure to help feed her dinner to her as she isn't able to do this now.& Give her a big cuddle & listen to the 50's music that we love.& The fantastic smile she gives me is so rewarding.You are all doing amazing things with your dad keep on Doing what you are doing.Its just perfect.XXX🤗❤️❤❤️

I think doing a short course or even sitting in on a few podiatry lectures or classes, or whatever interests Dad will do him the world of good. He was clearly a very high functioning professional and probably misses some of that intellectual rigour. At least it would give him a change of scenery and be enjoyable to get the information he is asking about and give a sense of purpose again. Great idea 💡
It's so sad that he's not gonna be there for long. Cherish one another, one day he won't be there anymore. Hold & hug your loved ones & cherish every moment for one day you will wake up without their presence & that will remind you of how warm and loving their presence was. Sad but true, the only harsh truth of this life that if learned proper, you'll be more present in life, around your loved ones. Embrace the Now.
