It is looking pretty good M&M. I also would choose clamps over self tapping screws, much quicker and cleaner. But but but, no 6 tail lights? Perhaps another day. Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms. Great video I truly enjoy every second of these videos you produce. Thanks for taking the time to share. Stay safe.
Haha thanks! M&M fiberglass incorporated is moving along. The clamps worked well for this job. There’s a story behind the 4 tail lights. But he was back and forth on it so he decided to run the stock panel. We will save the 6 panel for another build. Thanks for tuning in Jim!
If you read the book "Corvette" by Lawrence Galloway, who was in charge of inspections for the Mid-years; you will learn why there were problems with the coupes. The mold was wrong for the roof panels and as such the roofs were undersized. When Chevy finally realized the problem, it was near the end of the run and they decided to let it go.
Mitch... it would be awesome if you took the time to go thru the videos and number them so a newbie to your channel could follow the builds from start to finish...thank you
I built the birdcage on a stock frame with it shimmed and level. I built the floor and glued the top on the car while it’s on a roadster shop chassis. Since I’m building the car from the ground up on the chassis that it will live on I didn’t use any shims. I used the body mounts and washers. When the car is painted and ready to be mounted on for the final time. Then he can put a shim here or there to make minor adjustments. But I designed the body to not use any shims to start off.
I find that it’s better to stay cool and comfortable. As soon as you get hot your pores open up and let the fiberglass in. That’s much worse. I just use compressed air to blow the dust off occasionally and I take a shower when I am done. I find that duct tape can help remove the itchy fiberglass particles. But it really doesn’t bother me.
Haha that’s a struggle for me too. I have to keep up with my TH-cam channels too while trying to get my projects done too. That sounds like a good project.
@@MidYearMitch my biggest recent accomplishment wasn't even on the Corvette. I finally got rid of the TH400 I pulled out of a '73 Riviera...back in the 90s!
Impressive knowledge and skills. Love what you've accomplished.
I appreciate that! Thank you!

Panel Bond IS expensive! This is a really fun project to watch.
You aren’t kidding! I bought a case of 10 and went through it quickly. I’ll probably have 20 or so tubes of glue in the car.
Congrats on reaching 10k subscribers!
Thank you! It was a big milestone. Hopefully we can keep the train rolling.
Amazing work, no other way to say it
Thank you very much!
Dig the mods and big tubs

When you test fit the body are you also shimming the mounts like on a stock frame?

Thanks for the visit!
How do you vin/register a build like this project , do you use a legit vette title .
how do you give an identity to car that made of pieces of 6 other cars and say ends up on a repro or custom chassis?
Ghost Car
In PA you could apply for a rebuilt Title which would get you a state issued vin
I don't know how you sand fiberglass with short sleeves? At least you wear a respirator.

@@MidYearMitch Well Mitch, it's really inspirational watching that pile of parts now resembling a car. You're a braver re-constructor than me.
I should not be watching this. I should be tidying up the ignition re-wire I made last summer and replacing the surge tank in my '66.
