I never touched a power tool till my 40s, and now at 68 I volunteer with rescues building cat houses, screen doors for sheds, benches, etc. We can do this ladies ❤

I'm 72 and built my own cargo trailer conversion all by myself also. You did a great build. It's sad the woman interviewing you seems so astounded that you did this yourself. Women need to not be so amazed as if this was unexpected. We can do ANYTHING!!!❤

I too am a senior 75yo. It is a great setup. But, the height of the van does not work for my use. I prefer the high top vans. You can actually stand up in. I am too old to live on my knees in my home. Also I put a full size 72” bed from behind the drivers seat toward the back doors of the van. Lots and lots of storage under it too.

I’m now single again in my final year of my 60’s and have been looking and reading on wanting to do this at this time of my life. What a beautiful design, and she did it all herself. Amazing. Nice and cozy and homey. With living expenses literally going through the roof. This is truly an option I am searching.

@lonknight3197 CheapRVliving is an excellent source of information on how to start surviving and then maintain a thriving life in a home on wheels.
There is a fear for one's safety when Iiving solo on the road.
However, as someone who has lived in a school bus and in a minivan already,
I can truthfully say that I have not yet experienced any violence while on the road.
One safety tip I use is to use the empiral "we" while personifying my vehicle with the name of a late male friend/ relative when chatting with strangers. For example, my current vehicle is named "Andy" after a dear friend who has passed on.
Friendly Stranger: "So, are you travelling alone?"
Me: "No, it's me and Andy. We always travel together. He doesn't talk much, but we protect and depend on each other. It's nice to share memories together, too.
Do you live in the area, Friendly Stranger?"

I just love her! It just goes to show you that age doesn't matter if you have the will you can do anything yourself. You will figure it out. So proud of her for doing it herself. She's amazing ❤️
What an amazing talented woman to have designed and built such a wonderful van! LOL!! "We have to go to the bathroom 700 times a night." Honestly, I've never had that problem and I'm as old as dirt now. I sleep all through the night and go to the bathroom normally in the morning after I get up at around 7 or 8am. I also don't have ANY of the physical problems that geriatrics have. Of course I have a VERY STRICT diet and prepare ALL of my meals. I never eat out because you never know what's in your food that way. I exercise using a rowing machine and I walk every day. I walk to the grocery store every week with a cart and bring it home full of groceries. Round trip is about 4 miles and coming home is uphill so it takes stamina to get the heavy cart up the hill. I also like to walk the biking trails in the wooded areas... so calming and refreshing to walk in the wilderness. I've decided that I'm not going to die... I'll just roam the wilderness and play in the streams. I hope that doesn't frighten the wild animals too much.

It is always nice to have a color theme, it looks more organized no matter how much you have and doesn’t look cluttery when stuff are all placed in a bin of some sort. We have a No build conversion using it for traveling, visiting places and i hope i can meet one of you to have a van tour on my Van. All ideas are from watching conversions of nomads, van lifers. Thank you for sharing those ideas and our conversion turned out great ❤. We named it Highlee since it is a Highlander (Toyota).

The sisterhood of older van life or nomads, is older women who devoted their everything to their families, finally having the time and ability to devote to themselves. Men, they had their “going out to drink with the buddy’s” and their fishing trips and their weekend golf getaways and they have their toys and most importantly their day ends when they drive into the driveway, whereas women… our day never ends, we’re on call mothers and wives 24/7 365 days a year until all of our kids have flown the nest… and being honest… even well after that. It your time to travel and have adventures.
