What most people don't realize is that charters schools ARE PUBLIC schools. My ex is a national charter school reform expert and I lived and breathed this subject with her for years. Charter schools, the good ones, are AMAZING! They do things that traditional public schools don't do. They can do this because they are smaller and can specialize whereas traditional public schools are so large and generic that they cater to the masses, not the individual. But they have benefits as well. The two types of schools serve different needs. We REALLY need to keep both our traditional AND charter public schools.
I worked at a public charter in Hawai'i, it was awesome. Each school is different, and charters even more so as they have more freedom to design a curriculum. It was public, free, and for Hawai'i very average in terms of income and ethnicity.
What about the charter schools that are failing students over and over again? What about the ones that quite simply do NOT work and take funds from traditional public schools? What about the students who fall behind at the charter schools? How do we hold them accountable with public funds? We cannot continue to ignore the overwhelming majority of students who are failed in charter schools under the guise "school choice."
Ashley Craft But you could say the exact same thing about public schools. I honestly think that, just as Booker said, you have to learn from the successful schools whether that’s a traditional public school or a public charter school.
Just got back from my daughter’s back to school night, our school district only have budget for 2 pe teacher, a 2 teacher for 4 elementary schools with multiple pe teacher aid. My daughter can only get 50 minutes a week. Why ? Because just 2 pe teachers, it cost the district 300k a year. The pe teacher only makes about 60k a year, the rest is health insurance and benefits. Also I hate to play the race cards, but as a very involved parent with school and my daughter’s classmates... if black kids and their parents live in a Asian communities, 100% of them will go college. Year after years, I have seen parent fail their childrens. Yang understand because his Asian, it’s not teachers job to raise your child, its parents job. So many parents I witnessed just never bother to take time to do homework and teach children how to think and behave. They believe it’s teachers job. It’s why don’t think most people understand what yang is trying to say unless you understand teachers job is just to teach.
Yang knows that educators can only affect 30% of children's school success, so we need to put money into the hands of AMERICAN MOTHERS and fathers who know that the extra money could go miles into investing into their children's school supplies, clothes, and health for school.
TG4KHD At this point polls aren’t a good indicator of candidate popularity because no votes have been cast yet. Bernie has the largest number of individual donors and highest amount of individual donations and he’s polling in second, behind Warren. A lot of these polls are taken by landline, which represents a much older and less accurately informed demographic.
@@divasbraidz 40+ years doing a job you hate? The system is set up to keep us in wage slavery and debt until we die, the entire system is parasitic to the core you work to make another man rich, all your money that isn't siphoned off as profit for a corporation goes to a landlord that sits back while you work for them or it goes to a bank if you have a mortgage, there's student debt to keep you a slave forever, and we pay all of this under threat of homelessness. To keep going round and round in circles to make it appear like she is making 15 points when infact it's just one made already by someone else .... And man those unnecessary words she wastes on stupid story after story .... One story per debate is enough .... She does not need to put them in every question
Yang is right. My wife is a public school teacher. She told me about a young student who would sometimes come into her class and she would be moody and wouldn’t listen or do her work, but this girl is usually a very good student. My wife spoke with her after class and to find out her single mother was in and out of the hospital lost her job because of her health and was currently in the hospital so the girl had no food for dinner the night before or breakfast that morning. We bought her groceries and her mother was back home the next day and thanked us. The girl is doing better in class. How can Warren just want to put more money in the schools and keep them there when some of these kids have a hard life outside of the doors? It’s a smack in the face to tell a poor child you care about them and to show it you will put more money into the school yet they barely have basic necessities outside of school.
Ms. Harris obviously has a very high conception of herself. We've already got such a President. I prefer candidates who show their ability to learn from others today.
Is it just me or did Biden completely lose his shit and snap at everyone.? I was like wth. This all comedy because none of them will do a single thing they talk about.
JeremyDN Kamala always talking about federal investing trillions into these projects but the real question is simply where are you getting all this money from? 🤔
My mother is a teacher and I can say teachers don’t need to be paid more. She makes 42 grand a year. She works 10 months of the year.( almost 50k a year if she worked 12) To get two and half months off your job for summer(as well as two full weeks for Christmas, one for spring break, one for thanksgiving break, so really only works 8.5 months a year) and still make almost 50 grand is a ton. Not to mention that she gets pretty good retirement and insurance through the school. Why do people seem to think that they get underpaid? If anything I’d say that working 8 and a half months a year and making roughly 40 thousand is being overpaid
Hello my name is Mark Duncan and I am running as Oregon's next Governor. I would like to point out a few things...First, we do not need to waste our dollars paying bad teachers. Instead, we should focus on a more incentive based program for teachers that can produce higher test scores and grades. Lets pay teachers who reach the kids instead of those that babysit our kids. Next, we must remove the undocumented students that take up so much of our teachers time, our kids time and our tax dollars. Then, we need to stop throwing money at a problem that never gets fixed. Instead, we should focus our money on fixing our broken schools, out dated curriculum and the high cost of education. We need Trade classes at the high school level, an attributes based curriculum as well as a placement test at the community college level. This would greatly fix and lower the cost of education in this country. You should not talk about raising teachers salaries and then talk free colleges... Now, if you want to better the lives of our poverty stricken people...quit taxing the same 1% that create the industries that employ them. Trump 2020... Duncan for Oregon
Yang was the ONLY one that accurately brought up the main problem with k-12 education.....MORE MONEY WILL NOT FIX IT!!!! If a child is NOT being nurtured at home they will have a hard time succeeding in school!!

Yang is buying people's votes. He is immensely dumb.
@Jonathan Fairbank I'm not a bot and other folks who support Yang aren't bots either. He has by far had the most effective campaign online of any other candidate. He has done hundreds of interviews for all types of outlets both big and small all along the political spectrum. That's how he's been able to reach so many people.
Win the internet, win the world.
Benjamin Snyder He isn't buying votes. None of the 10 people that will receive the Freedom Dividend are obligated to vote for Yang. They can even use Yang's dividend to support their candidate. Stop talking nonsense and add something substantive.
@@xixingpooh Exactly. People who call Yang's fans bots should search #MyYangStory on Twitter.

Yang is the only one that gave a real answer. It's true, education starts and ends at home; the difference between most successful children and those who struggle is their home life. All the banter about schools has no effect on a child's home life, but Yang's plan starts with supporting American families at home and letting the benefits trickle up from there.

The problem is teachers don't know anything about that. Haha. A teacher making 30k teaching about finances? Good luck.

He is bribing people for their votes. Why not just stop taxing people to death.
@@jasonwalker28 how would yang be taxing people exactly? His policy is literally giving every legal adult citizen $1,000 a month to do what they need from it. It goes right back into the economy and not something the government decides how people spend it. It's essentially equivalent to a $6 an hour raise for every adult american working a 40 hour a week full time job

Aubrey agreed
I agree
I honestly think that, just as Booker said, you have to learn from the successful schools whether that’s a traditional public school or a public charter school.

that moment I was looking at my $80,000 student loan
Bernie says "Cancel all student loan" I got all HYPE lolololololol
Only makes 60k? You must be rich if you think 60k a year is low.
Yang 2020, the only one with a brain on that podium.

TG4KHD At this point polls aren’t a good indicator of candidate popularity because no votes have been cast yet. @@divasbraidz 40+ years doing a job you hate? The education system is bs.8 people have half the planet's wealth, I guarantee you any education that comes out of an economic system like that is not going to tell the peasants how to become as rich as those 8 people. Yang2020!
We have the highest poverty rate maybe cause democrats support importing more poverty and having the rest of us taxpayers pay for it.
