@Stealth Guitar Hey both all outputs on the roach are identical. So you can use 1 or 2 2 or 3 1 or 3. Any combination of your choice will get you that result. For instance my output set up would be something like Guitar > Roach Output 1> 33 >5150 > Cab 1 / Roach Output 2 > Grind > Mesa > Cab 2. I hope that helps! - Mel
@@WombSurfer that's how mine is too I believe. Forgot to check. Lol haven't had to move my gear around in awhile so I forget how I got everything hooked up sometimes.
This is def awesome as a bassist. I can record my tone and give a raw signal to the engineer. So they know what I’m going for but can use their discretion for timing and saturation. It also helps live to give them a split tone in case it needs cleaning up.
What is the difference between the roach and spliff? You shiwed what the roach can do but what about the spliff? I notice the spliff has an iso output what fies that do?
@@le0_fx I am aware of the videos from Plague Scythe Studios, I'm a long time follower of the channel and saw those when they first came out. I'd just like to see what Fortin Amplification had to say directly on the matter. I have a GRIND and a BLADE already, and a 33 on the way to see which i like the most. Some people still don't agree with PSS's video. And I've seen a couple of videos where they've sounded a little different to me.
I would like to splitt signal from the guitar wireless (Senn EW100 G4) into the 2 guitar preamps. Could I use the Roach in this way? Does it works without power supply (passive)? Cables will be up to 30cm (all is installed in one 8U rack case). Thank you
I don't understand why you use a splitter before the Zuul. What's the goal compared to plugging the guitar directly into the input of the Zuul and then put your drive pedals and preamp in the loop of the Zuul ?
The splitter sends the unaffected guitar signal to the Zuul Key input (essentially side-chaining), doing so allows one to use boosters, overdrives, and compressors (and switch them on and off) which effect your noise floor. Putting the Zuul at the end of the chain before delays and reverbs would mean you would have to switch the Zuul's threshold every time you turn a pedal on and off. Using a splitter fixes this. And if the Zuul we're the first pedal in the chain. If your amp, distortion pedals, overdrives, or compressors were to introduce noise, the Zuul wouldn't be able to gate said noise.
Hey bro howd? not sure if this can be exactly used for this especific purpose i am going to ask ya...but here we goes.... is possible to create a dual-chain signal with this? ie. out 1 : runs a clean tone pedal , out 3 : runs a distortion pedal with volume a little bit lower...so you can actually hear the clean note bite. I quite in doubt about that...as the out1 would be going to daw from the clean pedal.. and out 3 from distortion pedal would be empty...not sure if that will work...can you confirm me this? Thank you for your time and video !! All The best
I got hum when I used the MXR A/B pedal when I plugged one into my guitar and the other into my mixer. Would the spliff or roach work for me? I use a mixer as an interface so I can use plugins for streaming and use my tube amp for the live monitor.
Any uses for a buffer or splitter that we missed? Let us know!

Does the buffer go before or after your tuner?
@@WombSurfer I think I got mine before but I'll double check when I get home.

2 Products that I absolutely need! Mel's killing it!
I would have never known about this without this video. Thanks Mel!!!!!!
This thing changed my DI game :)
Question: Why is the Zuul called "Zuul" and not "Blunt"?

Most definitely! Giving an engineer reference is huge!
Where should I put my Wawa pedal on the chain?
what happends if i use a wireless system instead of a long cable?
I guess this would also work on a bass to get a split signal to octave up like Royal Blood
Yes exactly! I've done this exact thing too to split process my bass live!
Excellent video! I’m at this issue right now! Thank you for sharing this! It’s greatly appreciated!
People dont realize how much tone you loose due to signal length!

Mel, is the 33 the same as the GRIND or are people misinformed in thinking they're the same?

If I use two amps would I need a noise gate for each amp to run into each effects loop?
that’s what i do

@@FortinAmps Thank you. I thought it was similar to the NS2 (4 jacks) but your noise gate is different with only 3 jacks.
Great and informative video, guys! I had no idea how much all of this affected tone 😨 I gotta get a buffer asap!!
It's wild right?

You would probably need a DI box for something like that!
You're a wizard, bro.
