Ben Proulx is the director for all of YP's title track music videos. He's known for doing basically ALL of Joyner Lucas's music videos. He said his inspiration for Young Posse's videos is like classic looney toons cartoons. Just wacky and fun and im here for it. Young Posse's b-sides are UH-MAY-ZING.
I am glad you put together this compilation, because it opened my eyes to their talent and vibe outside of these overly branded title MVs. I was guilty of writing them off after Macaroni & Cheese because it initially felt to me that it was an exercise in proving the success of the kpop method and kpop level skills without substance in the lyrics. I saw the strategy, heard the catchiness, but it didn't get into my heart. Thanks to you, I've now seen their choreography, personalities and vibes outside of their MVs and I love me some unbothered female artists that play inside and outside of stereotypes with attitude and playfulness in their performances. Going to check out their bsides.
Yes! Definitely unbothered female doing whatever tf they want, and I'm here for that! The actual concept isn't really my style but I love that they're so clear & unapologetic with their brand. And the talent underneath it definitely helps me be like hell yeah, do your thing ladies lol
Their bsides are amazing, their title tracks are goofy but fun. Ben Proulx is the one behind all three of their title track videos. Sunhye, she is the one with short hair, she is the leader, born in 04. Yeonjung, has the long dark hair and unique voice, she is the main dancer, born in 04. Jiana, long blonde hair, main vocalist, born 06. Doeun, she is the tallest member, at the moment she has blonde hair, born in 07. Jieun, has orangish brown hair, she is the maknae, born in 09; she is also a lot of people’s issue with this group, having a 14 year old singing what they say is objectifying music, but they write a lot of their own songs. They all sing and rap. Some of their good videos ROTY, OTB, Posse Up (there is a remix called Young Posse Up, it’s good but the original is better in my opinion), Scars (there is no mv but there are dance practices and choreography vids for it, the best one is on the channel Blip), they have a cover medley video on blip that is good, and they have a remix mashup of a handful of their songs on sloppy freestyle that’s good after you listen to the first two albums.
Young Posse is amazing and I'm really liking the sound engineering and styling but I'm really curious about if they're style gonna change and evolve with more vocals
I'm looking forward to hearing their b-sides and see what else they are giving us! I like that their brand is pretty strong as far as title tracks so far... maybe as they get more established, they'll start to incorporate other styles into their main releases
My story with them is a little similar to yours I heard Macaroni cheese a little after it came out and didn't like it at all... it wasn't even the lyrics i just found the music a bit monotonous.... then my recommended videos kept coming up with people reacting to ate that when it came out so i thought i'd give them another go.... my gosh.... i was blown away by the westcoast snoop/dre vibe i still listen to it daily.... i then listened to all their other stuff... my only real gripe with them is they still have too much newer hip hop styles with the likes of grime, drill and the newer kpop version of trap... i just wish they did more actual 90s stuff... its fine i get it... they aren't made for me (a 47 year old male lol) but i do absolutely love the 90s hip hop tracks they do have... ate that, xxl, loading i love and really like ROTY and Skyline too.... also i think their video concepts work rrally well because as zany and crazy as they are they are juxtaposed against seriously good music which makes it work really well...
Yeah that makes sense to me. MACARONI CHEESE is kind of a hard first sell but ATE THAT definitely hits a vibe that I think a lot of us resonate with. I haven't heard the rest of their stuff yet but I'm curious to hear it - I'm not as into newer hip hop but I do like it so I'll see how I feel. BUT they have so much talent so, like you said, regardless of how I feel about the music or the videos, the balance of their talent makes it easy to support them!
@@KPopwithKhadija yeah i agree.. i am definitely a fan of theirs even if its only maybe a 3rd of their discography... they have a drill tune for example called posse up and i played it to my 12 year old nephew because i knew he would like it ( hes always listening to uk drill and grime) and he loved it.. lol.. really sounds bad to me but that said he didnt think much of ate that or xxl.. my 2 fave tunes very 90s based lol.. i love the wu-tang rza vibes of xxl as well :P
You need to loosen up some and have a sence of humor they are very talented i love your reactions but sometimes your so close minded please check out their b sides especially scars music video performances you are like only person hating on the creativity of their videos they are truly comedians but talented and are amazing live too
Lol I didn't say they aren't talented. Quite the opposite - they are incredibly talented and I had a lot of positive things to say about this group throughout my whole reaction. But I DON'T really like the wacky concept of their MVs... and that's okay. People have personal preference and this just isn't my personal style, but that doesn't mean I hate them or am denying how talented they are or how good the music is. Humanity is diverse. This is part of the beauty of life! We like different things and that is okay 😊
I love you girl and appreciate your opinions but can I ask you a question do you enjoy comedy or no they just add comedy to their music videos it's boring with just the same ole thing everyone else dose these girls are amazing live too very polished hey question for you have you heard of recene they are amazing please check out their mvs love attack and new world and pinball pinball is my favorite I think you will love them
Hehe again, there's a wide range of what is considered 'comedy' - if you find their videos funny, that's great! It's made for you! I don't find that stuff funny. 🤷🏾♀️ It could be generational, too... I see a lot of internet humour lately is just about being really weird, loud, wacky, etc. which doesn't do much for me, whereas what I grew up on was more witty humour using context & double meanings, etc. It's just a difference of style and, as I said, that's normal and okay!! I totally believe they are great live!! I saw a showcase performance video and they looked and sounded amazing!! I haven't seen Rescene yet but I'm getting a lot of requests for them, so I should definitely check out that group soon!
