I bought a ‘68 Suzuki T200(still have it) from my cousin in late 1971, a couple years later a friend bought one of these Yamaha 180(1968) bikes from a school mate. It was red also and was in showroom condition which was amazing because most motorcycles in our farming community were not preserved very well. They were” rode hard and put away wet”.

My old man had this model. He bought it in the year 1969. I still can remember the sound of the bike. That was really so sweet and not like your one. If my old man would be alive, today he'd be 87 years old (9th April). He died at the age of 51 and a couple of months later my mother sold his bike at only 4000/- taka (400 US Dollars roughly) that time, not knowing the actual value of the bike. Thank you for posting this video and letting me see this beautiful bike after a long long time...
    Cheers and stay safe

The sound of that horn is very familiar !
The bike later had a little cosmetic change, gas tank etc. The engine was changed to a 200cc. The model was CS2, and I even owned one. There was a CS3 scrambler with upswept mufflers. After the CS5 was the RD 200. All these bikes were electric start.

Brings back wonderful memories. Thank you I don't believe the Bonanza 180 had those flat bars on it from the factory though.

A friend had one for a few years, was a great bike .PLEASE don't sell it to someone who just wants something to ride. That bike deserves to be kept low mileage/ original, a rare survivor

That is what I hope mine sounds and looks like one day! I still can't the rubber tank pads, what other models use the same ones? This would help so much :)

My best friend bought a new YCS2 version in March 1969 it looked the same except that the seat was ribbed (tuck & roll?) he was rather disappointed by it's performance claiming it was hard work keeping up with my YAS1 125 I must say it felt no faster than the YAS1 but a lovely bike all the same.

Hey man, I have been given this exact bike to fix up (in much, MUCH worse condition). I was wondering if you know what size battery was put in it. I know it is a 12 volt but can’t figure out the exact size. Get back to me if you can
