What's bad for him is that the RB position is over saturated in the nfl.
Unfortunately, for Saquon, running backs are undervalued in today's game. No matter what he does, he's not going to be valued more than the quarterback.

We had boarder line 3rd, 4th string and practice squad players starting for us this season. Dak played 4 games less than DJ and had 10 more interceptions with about 100 less passing attempts and more weapons than DJ. And with all the weapons Hurts have at his disposal he only threw for 3701 yards 22 TDS, 6 interceptions, 760 rushing yards, 13 TDS and a WAYYY better OL. DJ 3205 passing yards 15 TDS, 5 interceptions, 708 rushing yards 7 TDS. Now picture what those numbers would of been if he switched places with any of those QB’s.

The basic truth is that the current business model in the NFL shows teams that they do not get a return on their investment with a big second contract with Running back. How many RB's are as productive or more productive from year 6+. Look at Eziekiel Elliott, Christian Mccaffery, LeVeon Bell and Todd Gurley's production during their second contract. McCaffrey is the best of the four during his second contract and he still is a shell of the runner he was in 2018 and 2019 with the panthers. It's not what you have done for me , its what are you going to do for me in year 6,7,8? RB's are not going to get long term contracts for their second contracts.

As a Giants fan, I've been saying since day one.... 4yrs, 60 million 44 guaranteed (11/year if healthy) with a 2yr out clause. As a Giants fan from a business perspective.... The RB market even for the best RB is only 12 million a yr. Saquon is half way thru his career, and even though when he's been good, he's been really good, he's also been hurt for half his career, and he's only got a good 4 yrs left??!? The Giants are rebuilding from Gettlemen, and they ARE NOT gonna be loose with the purse strings, even if Saquon might deserve some extra cheddar. The team is moving away from Saquon being the sole offensive weapon, and Saquon needs to realize all the factors in the team's decision. Take the franchise tag this year whether or not he likes it. Saquon also needs to remember that being in NY avails itself to greater endorsement deals off the field as well that he wouldn't be getting in other markets.
The other thing Saquon needs to remember, is... Can the Giants get adequate production from anyone who replaces Saquon? What are the Giants going to pay them? Breta? Grey?

Daniel Jones was very accurate last season, but the pass only works well when balanced by the run and vice versa. Saquan does deserve his money in my opinion just have to be realistic about the duration of the contract, He could have a nice career like Gore, Tomlinson, Peterson and others but we all know it only takes one freak injury to upend a career and running the ball is guaranteed contact that wears on your body.

I feel like the NFL needs a serious change in how the contracts work positionally
The franchise tag, I might get rid of that if I'm on the players side. Change rookies contracts to be based on yr to yr performance. Barkley has been hurt so I don't think you could say he is the best rb in the league but he could be worth top 5 compensation. There qb is not an upper tier QB so while guaranteed yrs is one thing I wouldn't think you would pay avg level performance high end dollars so definitely need to review the money positional wise and create a more fair market. Even if you have a set top $ # for for each position and what qualifies you to earn it
They should limit the Franchise Tag in my opinion. A player shouldn't get Tagged more then once. You can literally hold a player hostage for 8 years if wanted to and we all know RB windows aren't that long, so the chances after those 8 years to get a massive contract is very rare.

If I were Saquon, I would tell the Giants that if they put me on the tag, and they force me to play under the tag, they best be prepared to do it every year forever, because the moment they do not, I will not be returning. That will mean Saquon will be with the Giants for two more years, because the third year on the Tag is, as I understand it, *very* *bad* for the team.

I never understood why players don't do it more often. He's already made 32 million off his rookie contract, who cares for another 10 million when you can hit FA and get yourself a 3-4 year deal worth 51-68 million. Get yourself healthy, you should be financially well for least 1 year lol.
