I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Alberto Jackson Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Steven Forrest (super fantastic evolutionary astrologer) said of Hellenistic astrology vs Vedic or Evolutionary astrology “you can tell the truth in German or in French”. I thought that was great. He also mentioned the importance of thoroughly learning the methodology of the specific astrological system you are working with and sticking to it as it will assist the depth of the truth telling. Very cool to listen to both of your talks back to back.
I appreciate that perspective. I've had a few really great readings from Steven and he also sat in one of my classes once...I nearly peed my pants. :) Legendary!
@@Adam-ElenbaasAahh I would have definitely peed my pants in that situation haha! So great :) You are both particularly brilliant astrologers. I'm taking your ancient astrology course in June. So stoked!
This was a great talk! Thank you. I’ve been “into astrology” since a teenager but only recently seriously drawn to study traditional astrology. I’m seeing many things play out as shown in charts. When you mentioned the angst you felt seeing upcoming ailments for your wife and daughter.. I was reminded that last fall I casually asked an online reader about my financial situation in 2020. I was peeved to hear her say that I would not be able to pay my bills and my business would close and it would not be my fault. She said it seemed like it was something that would occur to many not just me. I kind of said “screw that” in my head but could not completely dismiss it. I started seriously upping my marketing, revised my website to accept all types of payments, extended free shipping, sent extra inventory to my Amazon channel, joined a wholesaler, was looking into international options, etc... and then BAM! Covid19 hit and my company had to pretty much cease operating because 80% of my sales are to public park stores. Long story short... what she saw in the chart was right! But... I took the steps necessary and have thus far weathered this set back much more gracefully than had I not pumped up my business before hand and accepted this reality and applied for aid right away... also I entered first house profection year in March and immediately fell down stars at night on way to bathroom and hurt my back really badly (better now)! It caused me to access my health and body limitations (Saturn is there at 1 degree).
After studying Hellenistic Astrology for the past 2 years (through Chris Brennan’s course), I have learned a lot of useful information, particularly when it comes to time lord techniques (such as zodiacal releasing, profections, firdaria, etc). I also followed the same technique by excluding all outer planets my first year, and while that is certainly useful in the context of those ancient time-lord techniques (only using traditional planets for them), I must say that this approach was very hazardous to me and I made many mistakes by not accounting for the outer planets when it came to elections (ex: ignoring Uranus in Taurus rising elections for completing certain projects). Furthermore, my Venus in the 7th house in a night chart (with the malefic contrary to sect Saturn NOT ruling it) indicated to me in Hellenistic/traditional’ s interpretation that relationships would come easily to me (especially since Venus is the ‘helmsman of my ship’ as ruler of my first house of libra). However, this has NOT been the case in my lifetime at all (note: I don’t have any bad aspects to Venus either, just Trines mainly). The only way that this matter is properly explained is through the modern evolutionary analysis of the nodes (definitely not hellenistic analysis). When viewing venus in my chart from the perspective of ‘opposing my south node’, It adds another layer of meaning, namely that this planet was actually an obstacle/rigid wall that I had trouble integrating or obtaining in my past life as well as explaining a different dimension and other complexities that I deal with internally when it comes to relationships based on my difficulties achieving love in past lives. Furthermore, I also think certain aspects (such as the quintile) are instrumental in showing harmonic interaction between planets with regards to the ‘cycle’ perspective in the slower planet importing significations to the faster planet in its journey across the zodiac. Many traditional astrologers think we should unfairly ignore these aspects. Hence, I would encourage all to never blindly use whole signs or placidus/modern, but instead, to use a blend of the 2. I will concede that traditional does a far better job of predicting objective events in ones life in General, and think it is tremendously useful for anyone to learn. I see it as the skeleton framework for ones life while I use placidus houses for the flesh, and I think that’s a helpful way to look at it if you truly believe that not everything is fatalistic or deterministic and that you have some free will in the process. I do like how you compare the disciplines, but I must say that recently i’ve seen traditional astrologers saying modern is complete hogwash, which I think is a dangerous road to go down. Anyways, just wanted to share my perspective on this. Warm regards and peace to all!. Love (hope I find it someday lol).
I‘m an avid user of Modern Astrology and it works well for me .. however, listening to this is very I interesting and I have to say, if I were to get a traditional astrology reading it would be by you or someone like you I believe all systems are accurate in their own sense and it comes down to affinity and preference, however, I think in the end it comes down to the skill of the astrologer whatever system they’re using. And you seem to be amazing with this .. this Q&A really managed to get me closer to relating and appreciating the methods of Traditional Astrology, also got me curious to try it out more .. thanks 🤗
Hey, yeah you know this is so funny I was just searching the internet yesterday for the differences between modern and hellenistic astrology. I am really interested. Recently started to really dig around in my birth chart. Started to get some books. Been watching Chris Brennan and Kelly Surtees. But I will tell you I am really drawn to the spiritual lens that you seem to see the stars through. Thank you so much. Love the beginner stuff, thats what I need.
My chart barely changes with Whole Sign System, maybe because the majority of my placements are in the second decan. My planets only change various placements if I use Equal House System. I think Hellenistic Astrology is fascinating, but Modern Astrology's psychological approach is what made me interested in this area of knowledge... As a tool for self-development and an approachable way to develop spirituality. In another hand, there's a part of myself that questions if I trying to predict the future in a more specific manner is really something I could be comfortable with doing... There's something that feels unnatural or unethical, to me, about trying to anticipate the future or doing things for any other reason that doesn't come from my own volition or my own moral values or my own desire to be the best person I can be or help others... I also have a lot of mix-feelings about the concept of karma, specially due to how people use it in common language.
It's so interesting to hear you speak, as everything about the different esoteric scriptures and yoga philosophy play a big part in my life and practice as a modern astrologer. When I read a chart, I always go into the karma of the soul evolution of the individual, alongside the psychological themes. A big difference is that I don't use hellenistic skills, but focus more on the nodes. I find the nodes to be very important, as they tie into the cycles of the unconscious part of Self, that plays a huge role in transcending duality. It feels like I am aiming to bring out the same information as you, I just use different, more modern ways, while still keeping ancient spiritual philosophy at the base. Anyways, thank you both for sharing! Very much enjoyed watching!
Because of the Yogic path you're on, I'm curious about your choice to focus on Hellenistic astrology as opposed to Jyotish. Looking forward to class starting in June!
My one step-son is basically a big square with an unaspected Mercury-Saturn conjunction. Not counting aspects to MC or AC. But things can get very simple without outer planets. At least, the people I know.
Would you consider making a video specifically on the South Node? Everything I read on the SN is wholly negative- either it's a malefic influence that limits and reduces (with no upside) or it's a karmic dead end that needs to be left behind. Either way it's disheartening for those of us with important planets in conjunction to it. I saw in one of your recent videos you briefly discussed the South Node and its relation to renunciation (similar to Ketu from Jyotish). I would love for you to expand on that. Any insights are so appreciated. Thank you 🙏
In Placidus I have moon in first ..sun and Venus in third house. Saturn in second house and so on! whole sign I have moon in third...sun and Venus in fifth and Saturn in fourth house! All the planets move one or two house further from Placidus to Whole sign for me!! I have a very huge first house in Placidus! 😊 Love from Norway and Thank You! ☺☺
If the Hellenistic astrologers viewed the planets as Apollo/Artemis/Hermes/Aphrodite/Ares/Zeus/Kronos, how did they account for the absence of Poseidon/Hades/Hera/Demeter/Athena/Hephaestus/Hestia in their system. Could it be they were paired or linked Apollo-Hestia/Artemis-Poseidon/Hermes-Athena/Aphrodite-Hera/Ares-Hades/Zeus-Demeter/Kronos-Hephaestus
Whole signs do move a bunch of things in my chart. I like looking at charts without the outer planets. Some people have very little going on in their charts without the outers. My one brother has a few sextiles, one trine and one quinqunx - which might not even by used in Hellenistic? I really relate to Neptune and Pluto in my chart though.
Perhaps it’s more of a Renaissance practice, but I’ve heard from others and read that some use a mix of whole sign houses and quadrant houses (usually Regiomontanus) for natal charts, like one to look at house topics and the other to look at dignity/strength/influence of the planet. And a friend also said the degrees right above the Ascendant were weaker, but he didn’t really tell me a source. Are these things you’ve heard of or are familiar with in your study/practice?
Hi, I’m curious about the midheaven calculation with ancient astrology. Can you please make a video answering this question if you feel it’s relevant? I know some people have the MC in the 11th whole house. Would ancients have read this the same, or designated the 10th house by whole house system?? My understanding is that they looked at the actual reference point for what was happening up at high noon. So if it was the 11th whole house, that’s what it was. But if this IS the case, how does this change their interpretation of the 10th and 11th as whole house symbols? Thank you 🙏🏼🌑☀️
I wanted to know how the outer planets in a modern astrology chart translate in the traditional chart? For instance, I have a 9th house Stellium in modern astrology. Pluto is conjunct Uranus in the ninth house. How does/would this translate in traditional astrology? Thank you for this video!
You don't. Traditional astrology didnt use these planets. They were not know of, or included. So we just delete them from our charts when approaching the natal chart traditionally.
I don't ever view house systems as more 'accurate' than another one. The division of the sky into houses is man made and there is nothing astronomically which supports this division. So to squabble over which one is 'best' is unhelpful and ultimately unproductive. My approach is to a look at a nativity both with a whole sign house and a quadrant sign house chart - why limit your universe?
