Just a bit of advise, you didn't miss that carp with the bow because of depth, you missed because you aimed directly at where it looked to be. Always aim below where you see the fish. Because of the way light refracts, when it hits the water, the fish appears to be a little farther (or higher) than it actually is. You'll hit more fish by aiming a little under them, when bow-fishing.

He meant not too much noise while hunting the fish so he doesn't scare it away. Once the fish is on the spear it wouldn't matter.

initman01 yeah and in Australia we also have fish called tilapia and I went fishing in a dam and caught like 50 of them while fishing for snub ones garfish

The gar don't need to be rescued, they thrive in water with very little dissolved O2.
Now what you should do, is research the state record long nose gar, and see if you can beat it.
There's a chance you could beat the record for long nose gar, and common carp.

Love that you're getting out carp... keep going back for more. You can always donate them to local food banks. whenever I go fishing I never toss em back. They destroy fish beds with their eggs... either they go in my garden or the raccoons get to eat them.
Those needlenose gar are gorgeous. I used to have one.. you are def way more brave than i... my hands never went near it.
@Spearfishing vs Fishing no unfortunately I haven't. I'm usually at a local pond that is on a golf course lol. I think they would frown at that, since they already don't like it when I'm there. I'll have to try it when I finally move to a private pond this spring/summer.

Life Flight 101 I’ve eaten quite a few carp. The silver ones or grass carp are really good to eat. They have nice white meat and taste quite nice. The gold ones taste like shit but are incredible catfish bait.

Carp can be pretty tasty. It's not a "trash fish" everywhere else in the world. Take a bite, but also make sure they aren't packed with PCBs
In old europe the monks were breeding carps in shallow lakes so that they have nutritious food for the period of fasting (I hope that is the right word).
In this period meat was not aloud but fish was.
Carp is still a traditional food especially eaten on Christmas or new years eve.

Ok so I am just a little late on watching the video but I have to say way cool ! But I have say to all the people who put up ugly messages must not understand that it takes a long time to make a video! Second for the people who contacted him for the fish may not want to be in the video! Carp are big huge fish that eat anything and everything they come across! The people who insist it can't be eaten are people who've never tried it! (One guy I knew ate some I had just fried -- said he wanted to try it cuz it smelled so good as I was frying it -- BEFORE he knew what kind of fish it was. He loved it! Wanted MORE of it -- until he asked what kind of fish it was, and I told him, at which point he stopped eating and ran out the door!

In Europe, carp is a game fish. And when they first came here, the European aristocrats brought it with them because they didn't want to be unable to dine on it. That's one reason there are so many here now.
BTW, I've caught carp that size and larger on 8 lb. line. It takes a while, and your muscles will be feeling it for some time afterward. You just have to let them peel off the drag over and over and then slowly haul them toward you while they're catching their breath after each run. Eventually you'll be able to slide them up toward the bank, and then grab by the gills.
I had better luck with frozen corn nibblets than any other kind of bait.
