I used their custom cable and plugged it into the existing cable using a ELECTOP 2 Pack USB 2.0 A Female to USB Micro Female Adapter Converter from Amazon. Adapter works great for indoors. One must waterproof adapter connection area if outside. Good luck.
One other tip. You can hang the camera upside down if needed, due to limited mounting options etc. In the app select Advanced settings and rotate 180 degrees. I think other Wyze cams have this option as well.
So far I only have one of the 5 up. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe My son ran out of time, with motion detector etc. I have it over my garage door. It works great. Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.
I used existing cable with Amazon asapter ELECTOP 2 Pack USB 2.0 A Female to USB Micro Female Adapter Converter. Allowed joining to my longer cable indoors. You would have to waterproof connector if outdoors. Good luck.
You could also buy an adapter like you say. With my method, depending on where you mount it, you may not need to waterproof it. If the camera is under an eave and in the correct orientation you would not need to waterproof it. However if the camera is mounted upside down and not under an overhang, then yes you would need to caulk the connection. It depends on your use case.
Thanks for this video. I thought about this too, but my install is on the 90degree corner so that I can have a 270degress horizonal view of my backyard. To do that, I will need to install this upside down, and I am afraid water might sip into it if I don't use the 90degree USB, still contemplating. I hate when supplier rush and push new products without accessory solution. I can buy an extended adaptop a to a cable but then I will need to reroute the cable which take even more work to do.
One flaw this camera has is the flexcable from the power supply to the internal circuit board comes out from its connector. There should be a physical stop to prevent 360 rotation of the bottom base so that wire does not pullout. Im very savy with electronics. I thought the device was DOA. However after tearing it apart i found the wire not even connected and connected it. The cable is like those in your phone and computer screens those flat cables.
Yep my exact solution. I did the extended wire routing days before the camera arrived so when I saw the 90deg head I drilled a passthrough hole without even thinking Side note: I had to drill a second opposing hole because where the cable plugs in from the bottom is where the camera's rotation end point is; in my case the "back" of the cam had been towards the main subject
The stock cable has a better seal. For several days I've been using the old USB extension cable outside with no problems. My camera is under an eave so it gets some protection from moisture. Even if the camera wasn't under an eave I think it would be fine. The charging port is facing down, so any moisture should drain off anyway. If you want to be super secure you could caulk the connection extension cable connects to the camera. Probably not necessary though.
I use this on my truck camper. However I put it up and down each time I travel. I have found the 90 degree cable is coming apart now as it was not intended for the constant connecting and disconnecting. I also use my bracket to hang the camera from not support it from. I'm going to try that next!
Yes. It’ll work without making a hole in the mount. Just don’t know if it’ll deliver enough power since it’s 25ft. I have a 42ft wire and it occasionally freezes when I rotate it a lot. A LOT.
@@tinwas_takenI ended up using a 25 foot microUSB and the length is fine. But.. needed to use an old Ipod charger if i have a splitter on that to power both a V3 pan, and a regular V3 at the same time otherwise when the motor of pan activates it resets with the wall wart it comes with splitting power with a v3. 25 feet is fine I have it alone with stock wall wart as well and no power problems. So, i wish Wyze would make 1 so no drilling on mount.
I ordered an extension cable that is not a 90 degrees. Only problem, if you look at the 90 degree one that cam with the cam it has thin plastic around it. The one i got from Amazon is to thick to go in that small hole. So buyer beware and take that in to account if you are going to order an extension.
Experienced the same problem. Have a flood light and wanted to mount this about 15ft away. Tried an adapter and a 15ft USB cord and the camera will not connect. Grabbed an extension cord and plugged into the wyze cord and it works fine. Going to try plugging the camera directly into the 15ft cord tomorrow and see if it will work. If it does I'll be drilling a hole in the bracket (dremel) If it doesn't work then idk what I'm going to do. Wasn't much into this security camera stuff but, twice within the past month I have had to put a mirror on my wife's car and I'd like to catch the f'er.
Just keep in mind if you use a really long USB cord sometimes there is a voltage drop over the long distance. So the camera can't get enough power. Another solution might be to buy a lamp socket plug adapter. Which allows you to plug something into your front or pack porch lights and run power off of that.
@@techtidbits7594 I'm pretty sure it is a voltage issue. I replaced my only light socket with the wyze flood light. I don't have any outlets out there either... Electrical needs updated... going to be quite a project if I have to run power over there.....
Can you use a USB extension cable? Wouldn't that suffice? I'm asking because I have extra USB extension cables I bought from a dollar store. What do you think? Thank you..
If you don't want to drill a hole, you can just buy a very long usb extension cable to plug into the cable that comes with the pan V3. It would be a male USB to female USB extension cable.
Just bought a Wyze V3 pan/tilt camera .... works fine....BUT the fact that Wyze doesn't make an OBVIOUS needed extended micro /usb with the 90 degree connector is simply INCREDIBLE. How cheap ... how stupid .... how unprofessional ... how insipidly short-sighted of these clowns just makes me shake my huge head. Taking Wyze camera back for refund and will tell anyone and everyone I come into contact with not to bother with these newbie idiot late-nite info-merical carpetbaggers. What an absolute crock. Pushing their V3 cameras ...but offer no accessories. Hate having to jury-rig a new install. I manage 78 buildings and was going to use cost effective Wyze in each .... no way now.
I ran into the same nightmare.....but needed to use this cam. My solution was to use included cable and get a USB 2.0 female to USB micro female adapter on Amazon. ELECTOP 2 Pack USB 2.0 A Female to USB Micro Female Adapter Converter Worked for me indoors. If outside you should simply waterproof it. Good luck.
@@petenestor1 Thanks Pete. But my point was that a company such as Wyze would introduce and market the heck outta this V3 pan/tilt camera and NOT have the foresight or customer satisfaction concerns front and center is incomprehensible to me. To think that a 6ft. cord would be all thats needed is insane. AND the sale of Wyze extensions with proper connectors is a 'profit-center' all on itself for Wyze. Thanks for your response. @@petenestor1 you don't need any adapters for the V3 pan camera. That's what I show in the video. You can just drill a hole through the base and use your existing micro usb cable. But maybe you are referring to something else.

Do the pan cam v3’s work with the light socket accessory?
I bought a generic light bulb adapter and it was fine
Why didn't you mention the velcro that you have stuck on there is that velcro?
I don't have any Velcro that's probably black tape I don't remember
Just use a standard bracket with tripod style screw and ball joint and ditch the one that came with the pan 3 the it screws in no problems

Figure the extension cable is adequate for weather sealing? Or is the stock 6' cable a better/tighter fit for the port?
