Robby Gordon spinning coming onto pit road and doing a little burnout to get going has been etched into my mind for almost 20 years, It happened in right in front of us in the Pearson Tower. I was 10 years old and it was so loud and cool. Never saw the broadcast until now and it's exactly how I remembered.
Thank you for uploading this! I would absolutely pay for a monthly service to be able to watch any old Nascar race in the broadcast quality 😄👍🏻 I think it would be amazing!
Especially in this Gen 4 car. I feel like this car generated the best racing. No tapered spacer, no carbon fiber body, still had an H pattern gearbox, and certainly no compound needed on the tracks to create multiple grooves.
I remember I was 11 and at the beach that weekend and literally sat up in my room the whole day to watch this race. That's how dedicated I was as a fan back then. Still am but NASCAR has changed alot
Someone tell NBC they did a really good job calling this race. They need to watch the tape for current broadcasts 1. They did way more through the fields 2. They show more screen time to cars throughout the field 3. More driver stories about their lives and off track stuff 4. Good telemetry
Thank you for uploading this race nascar! I am based in Australia I grew up watching nascar here I can clearly remember taking a day off school to watch this race. I love the quality of this stream 720p60 goodness at it's best! Thank you again NASCAR for all the awesome content that you have uploaded recently. Looking forward to the race this weekend!
This meant SO much to me. I was 13 yrs old at the time, and had been a fan since i was 5 yrs old (1995), so for him not to win from the time i was 9 until 13 felt like FOREVER. It really made my world for a solid few weeks if not months after that, i was on cloud nine. Still brings a tear to my eyes remembering all of this and how life was back then. Man. What a day. Will never forget
Terry was my dad and I's favorite driver. He and my dad were born just days apart in Corpus Christi, TX. Watching this race brings back great memories for me as a kid. Was very lucky and dad took us to dozens of races in our motorhome. He would bribe staff at the track and got us to meet most of the drivers and get autographs. Sometimes I forget how much he did for me as a kid.
@@Afullerton95 he's not entirely incorrect. The racing of yesteryear was far more exciting. Now, the cars are so aero sensitive nobody can get close without NASCAR having to artificially close the field up. This 2003 race is a million times more Authentic than any race this 2021 season can produce.
20 years ago today. I still wished this was Terry’s last full season since his 2004 performance was really bad. But then again, it would’ve caused a butterfly effect on Kyle Busch’s career.

Terry Labonte got his first Cup win at Darlington in 1980 and he scores his last win at Darlington in 2003, what a way to bookend a good career. Terry never won a ton of races, but he was very consistent and knew how to keep the car out of trouble.
Nascar really shot themselves in the foot after this season taking away the spring Darlington date and also moving the fall race off of Labor Day weekend - all in the name of “progress” and “growth.” And we all know how that worked out.
This was a great race. NASCAR moving this race was what truly began the decline IMO. I understand changing venues and scheduling to meet current needs/demand, but they never should’ve altered the Labor Day Southern 500.
Little did we know that 6 and 7 years later jimmy Spencer’s crew chief tommy Baldwin and ward burtons crew chief frank stoddard would become owners in the cup series
Watched that race again a few months ago. Big Earnhardt fan, was hoping he could catch Bobby. Not that day. That sealed up the title almost. Def a great race
If you just type that into search it'll pop. It'll be in the quality like back then but it's there. I've watched every single race since 2000. Just Google the year's schedule and search for race on TH-cam!
Dangit, NASCAR. Why you always gotta spoil the winner in the thumbnail? I knew who won the race beforehand, but there are plenty of newcomers that may see the winner in the thumbnail and be deterred from watching.
@@XG-OFFICIAL-59 Well, yes. You're probably right. But they also mention in the description that Terry Labonte won, and by the time driver intros have begun and they see the #5 as Labonte, it may drive them away.

I was at this race. Luckily i was a Terry Labonte fan.
That was my 11th birthday really special
I wish I was around to see it but always gotta love Texas T, can never go wrong with a fellow Texan
I’m pretty sure *everyone* was a Terry Labonte fan that day.
One of the best all time races in NASCAR
I’m so glad this is the race you guys put up. A true classic.

The reason why the ratings and Nascar popularity was up then instead of now. Announcers then made it better.
That kill switching of the motor for Newman is emblematic of his season. 8 wins but too many mistakes to be championship eligible.

I was fan of his from 1 years old to 12 years old loved it on that day was my 11th birthday
Thank you NASCAR! Watching an old race is a great way to spend a day
Watching this is like going back in time. This is great stuff! Thanks for the upload.

The last year of NASCAR's absolute greatness. So good to watch
After Terry won this race, his next Top5 finish, which turned out to be his last one, was a 3rd at Sonoma in 2006.
I was at that race in Sonoma, probably the best NASCAR race I saw there
Even though I've never seen NASCAR that much I am going to watch it
Mkfan 77 racing same here lmao
It's not really this exciting anymore, today the wildest moment of the race is the burnout someone does after they win.
@@HelloKindWorld 😂 dumbest shit I've read

I'm excited to see Texas Terry Labonte Win this race.
His last. I cried as a kid cuz it was way too long since his last 1. Lets go Texas Terry!
Why do all you people call him Texas Terry Labonte? What does that even mean?
@@tylerwheeler8595 They call him Texas Terry Labonte because he won a race at Texas.

Kyle Larson with 5 Cars win at Southern 500 Darlington

That Newman pitstop was brutal.
“I hit the kill switch” makes it so much more brutal
Terry deserves that win! I am sure Bobby labonte is proud of terry labonte!

Yes it is his last win
@@evanwilliams6406 even more coincidence: Terry Labonte first start was also a Southern 500!
God I miss those gen 4 cars, they really provided great racing.
In my opinion, they were the best
Terry nailed this one
My Favorite driver ever!! Terry Labonte!!
I was at this race it was the first race I ever went too and terry was my favorite driver

ah a great moment for the Iceman nice to see him finally get a win with tony the tiger riding along
In before someone says when racing was racing
Thank's NASCAR
The last time Darlington ever have a second race there, good times
They get two races in 2021

The only bad part about this race was Jeff Gordon’s day. Other than that, it was cool for Terry Labonte to have won this race!
I realize I'm kind of off topic but do anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Morgan Andre Flixportal xD
@Skyler Ruben thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it!!
@Morgan Andre Happy to help xD
Great Memories
That starting line up is legendary! Back when nascar was awesome
Little did we know that 6 and 7 years later jimmy Spencer’s crew chief tommy Baldwin and ward burtons crew chief frank stoddard would become owners in the cup series
Terry Labonte was my fave as a kid
This would be the last race I watched for years
@Shawn Freeman people who were kids in 2003 are boomers now I guess
Recently moved to South Carolina. Hope I can make it to a race at Darlington next year.
I would've hated being a crew member for Newman pushing that car in that heat in those black suits
And for no reason lol
Michel Waltrip Is Wholesome To Hear
One of his biggest wins
Can you upload the 2000 UAW GM Quality 500? That’s one of the best NASCAR races of all time and nobody ever talks about it.

There would have been 5 cautions the last 40 laps today lol so glad they didn't cuz I'm a huge texas terry fan
Great thanks! : D
I can't help it. I laughed my ass off when we found Ryan had hit the kill switch
Poor Michael Waltrip was fifth in points prior to last week's race at Bristol. His downward spiral continues and I felt so bad for him!
This is some good ass quality
Imagine beating the best of the best at the toughest track with wins 23 years apart.
Ah yes, the 55th anniversary of NASCAR cup series.
I need 2003 full race more
Ebautiful race
hope terry took his pit crew out to dinner after this race, they were flawless!
If not for that clutch problem. Biffle had it.
Ryan Newman to the 48

Hi Aiden Diaz
If the playoffs was started in 2003. Jimmie Johnson would be the last Winston Cup Series Champion not Matt Kenseth.
Drag race
