📚 Crikey, what a haul! Folklorish ones look especially interesting. Father Brown stories surprised me when I read them - ostensibly cosy mysteries but riddled with moral philosophy!
That makes me more interested in getting to the Father Brown stories sooner
I read Sarah Waters's "Tipping the velvet" and it was a wild ride, but also very good. The way it's written feels very real. My friend read more of her works and liked "The Fingersmith" most.
I really hope to get to Fingersmith soon, I've heard nothing but good things
Yay, Orpheus Builds a Girl!!
We Have Always Lived in the Castle is so good! It's not very scary, it's more unsettling so i think you'll be fine
The Crow Garden sounds very interesting. I'm adding that one to my tbr.
I'm so excited for all of them!
Some really good books mentioned. I love vampire books too.😊
They are so good!
Algernon Blackwood is amazing. I recommend the recent Oxford World Classic edition of his short stories. The Wendigo is very disturbing. 😳
And Sarah Waters....Little Friend is a wonderful gothic read.
Ooh amazing! I have a collection with Wendigo in, I need to give it a read
🎂 🥳 🎉 Happy belated birthday! "The inevitable SOON" mine changes daily! Lol 📚
🤣🤣 it does! Thank you Julie
I hope you like Fingersmith! Ooo and The Beholders! So good.
They both sound excellent 👌🏻
Hope you had a lovely birthday! I LOVE Fingersmith and Sarah Waters is my favourite author. I think Fingersmith is a great place to start 😊
PS The Ferryman sounds intriguing! 📚
That makes me even more excited to pick it up!
such a good haul! I've added some books to my list now haha thanks.
I hope you like them!
I love thrillers and am very intrigued by the Folklore stories you showed. I think my fiancé would also love these as he plays DnD and usually dms so he loves folklore and seeing what he can use to help create his campaigns.
Folklore tales are so interesting, I love reading them and need to get back to it
@@ReadingNymph I have Knock Knock Open Wide by Neil Sharpson that I believe has Celtic mythology in it. I'm hoping to read it soon
📚 always great to get new books. I need to try the richman osman series. Oh and I have that miss Marple on my shelves
Miss Marple is so cosy!
The Ferryman is my big book for the summer. I will start it next month.
Omg amazing! Please let me know how you get on with it!
📚 what a nice haul! S Jackson’s Castle was not exactly horror to me. Not in the way I think of horror. It does keep you guessing what is actually going on however. There is a movie of Catch 22 which I saw many many years ago and don’t remember much about it except it was a war movie. Never read the book. Can’t wait for your mystery vlog!
That's interesting about We Have Always Lived in the Castle, I find that classic horror tends to be more atmospheric than scary, which definitely works for me 😅
I hope you enjoy the mystery vlog, I have just finished filming it!
❤📚🎉 Happy Belated. You have some lovely books to look forward to! I'll be looking forward to your review of Middlemarch.
Hahaha thank you! Im slightly intimidated but I think tackling a chunky classic over a season is something I would like to do
@ReadingNymph I just finished it. It took two and a half months, lol.
Happy belated birthday! 🥳🎂📚
Thank you so much
📚 📚📚
Thank you soo much!! 💓
Wow what a book haul!
Some fantastic books!
I am reading The virgin suicides but I am not really connecting with it and I’m finding it a bit of a chore.
I have heard the wager is a good book.
So many good books, you have your own library. 😂
Happy belated birthday. 🥳🎂
📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚
That's a shame about The Virgin Suicides, it is a more unusal one
I haven't read Justin Cronin's 'The Ferryman' although I really want to but i have read the first in his 'The Passage' trilogy which I loved ❤
Ooh nice! I am very intrigued by the synopsis
Happy birthday! 📚🎂
Thank you so much!
Happy Birthday!!!! I have the Witches I haven’t read it yet
Thank you!
📚📚📚
💓✨️
so interested to hear ur thoughts on the wolf gift!!
Honestly I think it will be stunning
📚💖
Thank you 🥰
Happy belated birthday! Could i know where you got your top from pls? x
Thank you! Pretty sure I picked this one up secondhand 😊
📚Happy Belated Birthday! Angels of Music is a very gory Charlie's Angels set in the Victorian Era. I love vampires too and was really excited for The God of Endings, but I found it really boring.
Thank you Heather 🥰
Hahaha Angles of Music sounds amazing, that's a shame about God of Endings
My May book haul is ridiculous but it was my birthday month so I'm giving myself a pass. In one of my classes we came to the conclusion that The Salem Witch Trials was started by moldy bread.
Haha yeah, always a pass for birthdays
oo I'm intrigued to hear your thoughts on Yona. AClockworkReader recs it a lot and I tend to have the same taste as her, but I'm not sure if that one will be up my alley. ooo the Tainted Cup sounds so good! I'm reading Foundryside by the same author this month. If I like it, definitely grabbing Tainted Cup! If you like asylum stories, have you read The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore? Highly recommend! 📚
I haven't, that title sounds amazing, adding that one to my list!
