My only question (as a new viewer) is that I don't really understand the appeal to this. Maybe this is not the video for me, or what not, but why even try to argue with someone who thinks Amazon is the correct pricing. I've been there trying to get people to come down on the price of retro gaming stuff when they just look at Amazon and think "oh apparently people are paying 600 bucks for this 5 dollar gameboy cart".
The "appeal" I guess would be in that there are a ton of people who exploit the demand for certain products. PC Gaming is blowing up as a result of e-sports, so naturally people will try to make money off of that demand. Nothing wrong with that, if people want something, make them pay for it. But some people like Alli take it way too far and completely overprice their equipment and the sad truth is, there will be some 14-15 year old kid who asks his parents or family to get him a nice computer (Like I did when I was that age) and then in most cases, the family will want to support that kid and get him something nice. BUT those families and parents often think "something nice" is expensive, when in reality, PC gaming can be done for WAY cheaper than what Best Buy, iBUYPOWER, CyberPowerPC, Alienware, and any other PC gaming company show price wise. So sometimes they flock to used markets thinking they're getting a good local deal, but then they get absolutely destroyed by scammers like this because they don't know anything about parts. They just buy the fancy computer that flashes lights. So sorry for the long rant but there is where the appeal might lie.
Oh I totally get that, and I've been on the receiving end of this kind of user as well as I've been adding more and more to my "gaming den" persay. Though I've found that there are greater ways of getting around this. A couple of things I've personally done, is after I got sick of contacting the user I just threw up a similar ad on the same ad space as something like a "Used Gaming Gear Consultation, are you over paying for your used gear? Ask me and I'll help you find out!" After a week of that and people even asking me what they should charge, I actually started charging a service fee for it, nothing super expensive, but like 5 bucks for a "session" as I called it. Another solution I've done is just get all of my friends who are into the same games/stuff start flooding the market place with better offers and they even provided links and pictures of completed ebay listings comparing their own prices to the item they had. Currently in my area I've been able to find gtx 970's for around 150$, hell I actually got my current 970 for 140$. It turns out if you put some effort into your market places and be sure to get the proper prices out there for people to actually be able to buy and sell, people will actually do it. I'd actually encourage you to put up a counter ad saying something along the lines of "Are you trying to buy a used 1200$ computer? Let me help you with that! I can give you a parts list and show you which of the computers in this ad space it out performs" It's actually a great system and hell you can probably make a few "consultation" bucks on the side if you really want to.

It's a good example of how people try to prey on and scam people who they hope don't know anything about computer hardware. Perhaps if I had come across this video not knowing as much as I do it would open my eyes to really do my homework on hardware prices. Some folks out there can be very trusting especially when they see a price breakdown with Amazon links.

The price of 1955 is if all the parts are NEW. The links are literally Amazon prices, and Amazon is going to use new prices, not used prices. if your looking into buying a pc above 1000 dollars im pretty sure your gonna look into it hes obviously not gonna sell it, i think he just doesnt know or care
The logic of posting something online is not the same as a flea market/garage sale. There is no real face to face contact, people who are educated and know what it is worth are to be tossed aside for that one mystical dumb kid with mommy's wallet. I was once looking for a Athlon/core2duo system for my home theater, i had a budget of 200$. Found a guy selling the ugliest custom pc with an AMD AthlonX2 3000+, messaged the guy and made my offer of 70$. He proceeded to call me an idiot and to read the 220$Firm quoted in the ad. And this was in 2018 and the PC is from 2006 or basically two console generations ago. I just scoffed and got a refurbished HP core2Quad Workstation for 200$ that included a windows 10 pro licence.
If that was a complete system and depending on components I would refuse your $70 offer too. I also rather stay away from branded office computers as in most cases they used really bad components at least in my old experience with Compaq/HP/...

I really wanna get an MSi 2070 gaming z from amazon but if it fails i gotta kms cause I live outside the US. If only Ngreedia didn't release a halfbaked failing product.
I've been fortunate to only ever buy a couple used PCs from older IT professionals online from Craigslist. Earlier this year before corona outbreak I lucked up on a used prebuilt ASUS G11CD-B13 Gaming PC for $450.00. It had a I5-6400 ( I later upgraded to a i7-6700) ,GTX 1060 6GB card, 16GB DDR4 Memory, 512gb SSD, and a 1TB hard drive. Met the guy at a Starbucks and he had PC setup and everything for me to test it out. He had a large tablet which could connect as a monitor which I thought was pretty cool. Said he was selling it for his son since got him a newer PC so it was quite a steal I think. That PC new was easily worth over $1K few years ago. This guy understood how computers depreciate in value with time.
I tried to Sell a similar rig for that price as well, but it was because i built that computer without knowing shit about parts and stuff, when people question me about the price i realized my mistake and sold it for about 300 bucks
Sean McDonald nah he’s kinda just an asshole about it. It’s not a scam it’s just a high asking price. Just don’t buy it and move on with your day but “*THIS GUY HAS THE AUDACITY*” to make a whole ass video about this guy trying to sell his computer
Facts bro. I’m building a pc now with *Brand New* parts. I ain’t ever buying any pc part or case “Used”! I got a job where I can just save up till I get the new parts lol
Gamerslasher well on a extremely tight budget (i would say between 300 and 500) its better to buy used. However on a higher budget i would buy new too. Because you never know what the owner before you did with it (whether he used his cpu as a frying pan, his gpu as a toaster, his psu as a hairdryer etc.). Plus buying new has longer lifetime.
scam noun \ˈskam \ Definition of scam (Entry 1 of 2) : a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation Listing blatantly false and incorrect prices for the items is both fraudulent and deceptive.
@@ry.the.stunner Those prices aren't blatently false because the links are legit and he can list whatever he thinks the components are worth to him. It is a ripoff with outdated prices. That is all there is to it.
People always think their trash is gold. That's why it sucks to try and find deals on craigslist or offer up. Sometimes you get lucky. Ebay seems to be pretty solid on the other hand because they have to compete with everyone else selling the same thing. Like your videos my guy. Keep up the good work!
But the asking price was 1200, and the value of the parts with the listed sales Kris found was around 1200? Are you just blindly following this guy's every word just because he said so so it must bet rue? xD
GaZe_Mitch *request* noun: request; plural noun: requests 1. an act of asking politely or formally for something. *recommend* verb: recommend; gerund or present participle: recommending 2. commend or entrust someone or something to (someone). Sorry; they're not.
People love to call 2020 the worst year but this has been the only year in history so far where I was able to purchase 16 gb of DDR4 3600mhz RAM memory for $65
Why start arguments with people like him when he obviously just wants to cash in from some foolish parent buying it he obviously knows what he's doing and you just wasting your and his time
indeed,i bought this parts new from diffrent places and not just only online for a total of 1080dlls including taxes: -i7 6700k -Nzxt M22 120mm AIO -Asus Impact VIII Mini Itx -16gb ddr4 corsair rgb 3000mhz -Gtx 1080 with Nzxt G12 with AIO 120mm Corsair H55 -Inwin 301 Mini Itx/Micro Atx Pc Case -240gb Crucial XB -500gb ssd Samsung 860evo -480gb Corsair -650w EVGA
But none of the parts are overpriced? The prices he shows are in fact the prices of the parts new, and the prices for them used comes out to about 1200, which is what the asking price is. Do you actually know what you're talking about, or are you just going "TH-camR SAID THING IS BAD SO THING IS BAD"
For $285, I was able to win an auction for a combo of an MSI x99 gaming pro motherboard with an Intel core i7-6800k, with 16 gb ddr4 Corsair 2666 MHz ram.
with 2,000 dollars i could create a rtx 2080 and a ryzen 7 pc with more than 16gb ram and this guy is selling his i7 and a 770 with 32 gb ram for this much BrUHHHHHHHHHHHH
Your right though. I built my i7 8700K 16GB of RAM(his had 32GB though) 1060 6GB, adata 512 NVME ssd, no hdd, 750 full mod. 80+ gold Corsair, Corsair 460X w/RGB, and a H110i for just over $1300.
Pc parts pricing has always confused me when looking on amazon or the usual spots. If you ever want to find out the REAL price on hardware just look at what they're going for on ebay auctions
Only buy old used rigs for under 400€. Maybe you need to buy new ssd on it by minimum and new thermal paste... You can build new and modern for 600€-800€.
I don't care how good that 840 pro is, IMO its worth like 35 bucks at max to me. Also I'd say realistically if youre buying local that 30 bucks per 8gb is a fair market value, so 120-130 local for 32gb of ddr3 seems fair to me. Otherwise you have to consider the fact that you need to take off like 13% of the ebay listings value to account for ebay and paypal fees that youre not paying for locally and others who list locally should understand that as well if they ever try to quote you ebay prices.
Yeah, I do a fair bit of flipping in my local area which is in a big city near a microcenter. So people are constantly dumping stuff on the used market.
no, he pulled them up on amazon. most of those parts are so old they aren't being made anymore, so the limited supply ups their prices a lot. you can see a similar thing with the AMD FX chips, with the 8320 being $300 and the 8350 only being $80. and those two chips came out at the same time, but the 8350 is still produced today where the 8320 isn't.
@@NoESanity no it doesn't work like that kid. When it comes to techs, that "most of those parts are so old they aren't being made anymore, so the limited supply ups their prices a lot" sht doesn't matter. They aren't being made BC it's outdated, slow, unreliable, and just bad.
@@covah725 okay dipshit. Go price some NES cartridges. SNES, N64, GameBoy. Literally pick anything console that isnt being made anymore and go look at the price of their games. Scarcity raises the price.
@@NoESanity someone is upset, listen FKWIT. SNES and gameboy are in a different category in techs, if u used your tiny lil brain of yours you would understand that CONSOLE is different from FKING COMPONENTS. stupid
I often send people messages when they have items priced way too high on craigslist, fb marketplace, or Mercarri sometimes I get a thank you, other times a denial, and rarely a FU mind your own business never contact me again case in point guy was selling a gtx 970 for $300 last week, I told him the gpu mining spike has gone away and the average price is back down to $150-$170. He said thank you and lowered the price other guy was also selling a 970 for $400. I told him the price. He said otherwise. I showed him snapshots of existing prices on ebay and mercarri and my own selling price when I sold one the week prior. He said he had a buyer for $300. I told him to get that $$$ fast and run haha and lastly a guy on Mercarri was selling a gt 260 for $50. I messaged the guy saying it's a sub $20 gpu. On the site itself they have a few prices like that. I myself bought one for $15 and $12 during the past few weeks to throw in old pcs i was offloading. He asked if I wanted a cookie, than told me to never message him again if I wasn't going to buy his stuff. I told him I don't buy from scammers. He replied with another nasty message and me having no life and than blocked me. I then "unliked" his item as I was the only one and have smiled as I see the price drop every few days just a few minutes ago sent an email to a guy selling an old HP that has a AMD E1-1200. Selling for $300 and has 4gb ram and 500gb HDD. That cpu is beyond atrocious. I guess it's an APU, but a super budget laptop APU that HP decided to stick in a desktop and sell. I think he based his price on a stupid Amazon marketplace listing. But man is that cpu god awful. Dual core and it benchmark score using Passmark (not the best site but it's okay for quick looks) was sub 700. I told the guy I was selling Dell Optiplexs with ivy bridge i5s for near $100 and they score in the 7000 range. Core 2 Duos would wreck it.
same here i was selling my old gaming rig and got in trade a working original xbox with 2 controllers and 16games and someone on letgo was trying to sell there used nintendo switch for $400 when a new on cost $318 after tax lol.
I sent a message to a person selling a i7-5820k. Their description seems promising, saying that they were selling it cause they don't use their pc anymore and they' rather someone else use the cpu. However, they were asking $315. I sent a message asking what their lowest price was, these things go for around $200 on ebay. I'm expecting something in the ballpark, maybe cheaper. Guys item has no likes (mercarri lets potential buyers "like" an item) $250 should be the max price instead the dude responds back price is firm, good luck on buying from ebay. A) what good luck, for buyers Ebay is better than Mercarri. Ebay has a 30 day return window as opposed to Mercari's 3 day. Ebay often has coupons. B) how do you expect to sell something $100 higher than your competition? clearly your item isn't priced to go so someone else can use and appreciate it.
I agree with you on everything in this video except the ram. Now 320 for 32gb ddr3 is way too much but I still think ddr3 is worth more than 20$ for 8gb. From what I’ve seen ddr3 usually goes around 40 for 8gb
I built the PC linked in the description and it's actually amazing. It was my first build and I've been using it for at least half a year now. Thanks for making this video!
Just bought two gtx 770's this week. MSI twin for $85 shipped a PNY for $75 shipped off Ebay. You can find them just about any day under $100 if you look
Your experiences here are not unique. Just look up basically any currently available product on eBay, and compare its average used price with the the retail price on say Amazon. The used price is higher. It's freakin insane.
that SSD is SUPER overpriced. you can get a 1tb Samsung SSD for $139 I have one sitting on my desk about to put in when I saw this video *Edited* The ssd worked and it was purchased brand new just to save some confusion.
In the time between this video being made and your comment SSD prices have fallen through the floor so you are both right. PS I never thought I would own a NVME drive but with the price drop I got the Samsung.
My own PC is an i5 9600k with a 2060 super and only some used parts. It also has tons of RGB and I got it for 1200, 200-300 frames on most games and super rendering. What a joke lmao.
Cost of new DDR3 is on the rise actually from what I seen, I questioned a couple techs why this was and they said most likely cause all the manufacturers switching over to DRR4. I have some sticks in my amazon cart from a couple years ago that were around $60 for the pair, and now are are selling from $90 - $130
To answer your question, for the labor costs and parts, its a good deal. But if you want an accurate answer please tell us exact specifications Ram, PSU, SSD, GPU, Case, Case fans (if any), CPU Cooler, Mobo
My only question (as a new viewer) is that I don't really understand the appeal to this. Maybe this is not the video for me, or what not, but why even try to argue with someone who thinks Amazon is the correct pricing.

Wtf i dont even have a pc

People always think their trash is gold. That's why it sucks to try and find deals on craigslist or offer up. Sometimes you get lucky.
Samsung 850 EVO 500gb was $100 few times in last months on slickdeals.

“Does it hurt, to be that stupid”
Me: Yes
He's listing the prices of when he bought them
It says "Price to build today", so he is talking about current prices.
no, he pulled them up on amazon. most of those parts are so old they aren't being made anymore, so the limited supply ups their prices a lot. you can see a similar thing with the AMD FX chips, with the 8320 being $300 and the 8350 only being $80. and those two chips came out at the same time, but the 8350 is still produced today where the 8320 isn't.
@@NoESanity no it doesn't work like that kid. When it comes to techs, that "most of those parts are so old they aren't being made anymore, so the limited supply ups their prices a lot" sht doesn't matter. They aren't being made BC it's outdated, slow, unreliable, and just bad.

I often send people messages when they have items priced way too high on craigslist, fb marketplace, or Mercarri
sometimes I get a thank you, other times a denial, and rarely a FU mind your own business never contact me again
case in point
guy was selling a gtx 970 for $300 last week, I told him the gpu mining spike has gone away and the average price is back down to $150-$170. He said thank you and lowered the price
other guy was also selling a 970 for $400. I told him the price. He said otherwise. I showed him snapshots of existing prices on ebay and mercarri and my own selling price when I sold one the week prior. He said he had a buyer for $300. I told him to get that $$$ fast and run haha
and lastly a guy on Mercarri was selling a gt 260 for $50. I then "unliked" his item as I was the only one and have smiled as I see the price drop every few days
just a few minutes ago sent an email to a guy selling an old HP that has a AMD E1-1200.
Guys item has no likes (mercarri lets potential buyers "like" an item) $250 should be the max price
instead the dude responds back price is firm, good luck on buying from ebay.
525$ for i7-6700 gtx 1070 16gb DDR4 in our country
