- This is the EXPAND R5090, a mechanical tarpaulin that can speed up the harvesting process by 25% according to its creators. It can work in conjunction with the Pellenc Buggy 5000 Shaker to harvest a range of fruit quickly.
The Buggy 5000 Shaker can harvest up to 1200 trees a day and Pellenc claim it harvests up to 99% of the olives on each tree.
Pellenc make a range of other harvesting vehicles. The CV5045 harvesting machine can strip a tree of fruit simply by driving over it. It has a pneumatic sorter that separates the olives quickly and is perfect for high density sites.
Pellenc also make a range of handheld harvesting and winery equipment.

I live in California. For those of you that don't, shaking of nut trees has been going on for waaaaay over 50+ years now. So....nothing new here except the tarps they are using. When harvest comes in late summer to early fall, Almonds and Pistachio trees are shaken with mechanical harvesters . All the nuts fall to the ground and are vacuumed up with the rest of the debris and taken to be cleaned and hulled( shelled ) . Where we live in the Interstate 5 corridor, we are surrounded by citrus, almond orchards and dairies. They keep planting almond orchards. From here all the way across Hwy 140 to Merced , Cali. there are mostly almond orchards and sweet potato fields. And for " Owl Unknown " ... Shaking the trees does not hurt them... you just have to be careful not to pull them up. Hope this helps.

Obye239 if a tree gets sick or 'hurt', it will cause problems for certain parts and sometimes the loss of that tree. That means the loss of years of labor it took to grow that tree not to mention the dead tree could harm the soil around it which makes it possible for the other trees to get in a bad shape. Therefore it would turn out as a mass loss (prices could increase in stores if that farm was one of the main specialty farms) which could take a couple years for it to restable once the new younger trees were able to be harvested. That's why a hurt tree is something to care about

But any way you could still use the arm shaker tractor with a simpler non-mechanized tarp. And if you cant get the tractor in, you can pop in manually with the "fork" thing or other such instruments (even just a big stick!)
