Go to a book that you cannot master, that scares you a little. Go to a book that you do not believe in.
Go to a book that makes you uncomfortable, that pushes you out of your comfort zone, that pushes you towards the Truth, that you resist but you want to go back to, because returning is your destiny. The point is how soon you return.

At the root of the question, what is the right book for me, what is the book for any reader, lies the reader, who is this entity that is being called as the reader? Who is this one who reads any book? Surely this person is the one we see all around. This entity is nothing but the one who thinks, plans, lives, dies, celebrates, suffers, remains in his own world. This is what the reader is.
I'm broadening the question to "What is right for me?" What is good for the ego? That which is good by the go is marked by two parallel effects that it has on the ego.
The right book, the right environment, the right person, the right decision, will always have two effects on you.
First effect is they will not be pleasant - be it the right teacher, the right book, the right work, the right advice, right anything will not be a source of pleasure. The ego will not like it, because whatsoever is right for the ego only because it acts on the ego and dissolves it.
The right book will have something that will repulse and repel you. You will want to run away from it.
You will say, if I go to the right one, I am dammed. If I do not go to the right one, I am doubly dammed. The right one might be a book, might be a place, might be anything under the sun.
But if it is right - and only mark of rightness - is that it pulls you towards peace and silence. If it is right, it will put you in trouble. You will be disturbed, you will be pulled apart, you will curse the day you came in contact with the right one.
Jesus was very forthright when he said a tree is known only by the fruit. Know by the effect that a book, a situation, a man, the world has upon you. Does it just console you, comfort you, or does it shake you up. Is the person just trying to put you deeper into your sleep or is he giving you an uncomfortable wake up call? Wake up calls, mind you, are always uncomfortable. You want to put of the alarm. You want to prolong your sleep and misery a little longer.
Note that not everything that appears bitter, not everything that experiences uncomfortable is bad for you. The Truth will always appear a stranger. Not all strangers mean evil.
You have invested a lot in falseness, but because you have invested many years in something that does not mean that you keep investing more into a false asset and a false hope. That happens.
Just because a man has spent a long time taken a wrong road, he feels that there is no point in taking a U-turn now. I have come just too far. Nobody has ever gone too far because returning is any way your destiny.
Attraction is not a yardstick of authenticity. Attraction is not authenticity and temptation is not truth.
Go to the person, the place, the situation, the place, the thought that appears really obnoxious. Go there. Have some courage. Have some holding power. Don't run away and slowly something just might emerge.
Go to a book that cannot be coopted.
That is the terrible mess that man finds himself in. He is configured to continue as he is, and he is destined to be liberated from how he is. That is our predicament.
Everything that is conditioned wants continuity, it says let everything remain as it is. Let my desire for pleasure remain, let my tendencies remain, let the world remain, and then their is your heart, which says, let the world dissolve, let everything come to a standstill. I want total sleep, total relaxation, total Samadhi, that is human condition. You have to decide which side do you want to favor. just too many people decide to favor their conditioning, just too many decide to take the easy route out and escape away.
Your deepest desire is truth, your deepest desire is peace and your conditioning will not take you there, your desires will not take you there. Your existence ways will only keep you deprived. Go to the book that dissolves you. Go to the book that scares you a little. Go to the book which you cannot master. Go to the master. Because books can be mastered, master cannot be mastered.
