So sad Josh Hartnett attached himself to this, he really shouldn’t have turned down Chris Nolan back in the day because his career has never recovered.

@@DemonEdge82 I agree, I feel like I’ve seen basically nothing from him for years until this trailer came out. And then the movie was such a disappointment overall. And how could anyone say no to a Nolan role at this point ?

Here go the rumors again. Do some factcheck!
      1. Nolan never asked him to do Batman. Bale was already cast. Hartnett wanted to do the Prestige, Jonathon Nolan’s film. He and Nolan talked about both films on the phone. BOTH have said a million times Hartnett did not turn Nolan down, he was never asked. BOTH have said Hartnett, at 22, did not want to play heroes or heartthrobs but stretch himself into all different roles. He turned down Spider-Man for same reason. He said no to Superman. Agents urged him to take the $100 million over 10 yrs for 3 films. He said no. Studio asked him 2 more times. He said NO.
      2. Hartnett went into independent film, producing 3 and also 2 music videos. He has made at least 1 film every year for 20+ years. Didn’t you bother to check his filmography? He’s worked with new directors and renowned directors who were making the indies. His relationship with Hollywood filmmakers never soured and he was in no way blackballed. Read the reviews of Trap, another film Shyalaman people either love or hate. Reviewers agree Hartnett’s performance is outstanding no matter what you think of the movie. Hartnett lives next door to Richie and the director cast him in his last recent 2 movies when he needed an actor to replace ones that didn’t fit in. Richie says since Hartnett agreed, he rewrote the role for him as they went along. In 2023, he had FIVE projects released: Black Mirror, The UK series The Fear Index, Operation Fortune, Wrath of Man and Oppenheimer. Why do you say his career never recovered?! That’s crazy! And poor research on the actor.
      3. Hartnett is respected by directors inside and outside the studios. He has made a name for himself and is often asked to be cast in their roles. But Hartnett only picks roles that HE likes, that challenge him and keep building his versatility. Richie asked him as a personal favor, Hartnett asked Booker for a role in Black Mirror. He has been friends with the writer of The Bear since they were teenagers and that’s why he wanted Josh to play Frank. Nolan wanted him to play one of the characters in Oppenheimer. When casting director asked him to make an audition tape, Nolan didn’t watch it : Nolan said “We like Josh, he’s made interesting choices (in his career). We didn’t get a chance to work with him many years ago, so we are very excited to get him now.”
      3. Hartnett says he spends 90% of his time with his family of English wife and 4 kids living on a farm in the English countryside. They have a lot of animals including 4 Pygmy goats. Josh Hartnett is a multimillionaire.
My boyfriend and now husband and I have followed his career since we watched him in O, the high-school Othello. We were English majors lol I joined a fan club of fangirls. After the club grew up and faded away, some of us kept watching him anyway.
If you want to be taken seriously as a reviewer of movies and actors you have to do a little work. Stop running in rumor mills.

@ with all that being said I truly do wish the guy the best, I think he has a tremendous amount of untapped potential yet to be seen if he can’t get the right role. Of course he’s a working actor maybe happier then he’s ever been for all I know but it’s just a while since he was in the big leagues opposite of some of the best and I’d personally like to see him get back to that career wise if he’s still interested.
