We need an easy-intelligent way to know how much beer is left in the keg!!! You guys are the best on developing these cool, smart, cost-efficient gadgets we homebrewers from all over the world love. Please use your great ideas to come up with something that will let me monitor my keg level, so my beer will never end up on me unexpectedly again. Great bong btw!
Thanks for that. We have a few products that we have to finish first but I would agree we should start working on a keg level checker soon. We would like to first make our kegerators wifi connected and then if we can do this we can use a simple bluetooth bridge to the keg which would save a lot of energy. So in my opinion this is the beast way to go.
@@KegLand Hey guys! First off all, thanks for the reply, really appreciate that! I agree that a connected keg level checker would be the best scenario, however I do believe that a simpler/cheaper solution would also have space in the market and could even be more democratic, helping those without a connected kegerator. Maybe something with floating magnets could already give a visual indication of a keg level, without the connected feature, but in a simpler way. Don't take me wrong, I do love the connected stuffs, I'm a happy rapt pill owner and do own my portion of the home automation gadgets.... still, keg level could go ether simple-offline or connect way, both helping lots of homebrewers.
I read in the description that the 4 inch hole does not allow pressures above 21 psi without leaks. this means carbonated beers maximum at 2.2 volumes at 18 degrees. this is a big limitation. Sin.
If you remove the bong after dry hopping, will the butterfly valve hold pressure or at least keep oxygen out? I don't have the height in my chamber for the entire unit.
Holy cow! That thing is awesome! You guys know I'm in the midst of constructing a brand new home brewery at the new house right? Some of those components also look like they could double as a water pipe if one was so inclined 🤷
I just had a look on the KegLand website and can't find an answer, so thought I'd ask here: What pressure rating is the 2" butterfly value rated to? Could I leave the butterfly value closed on my all-rounder (with a pressure gauge for pressure fermenting) and just attach the hop bong when I dry hop?
I came here with the same question :) But, I guess you could use the tri-clover bottle cap, and swap at the dry hopping stage to the bong, with the butterfly valve, closed. Maybe I'm wrong, but that seems like a good approach.
A little complex (in reference to the number of parts as it looks simple enough for anyone to use) but I really like it and the versatility of the device. Great Job! Keep inventing!
Looks excellent. Would you not go gas out to spunding to hop bong and then a gas out line to starsan? Would purge by its self then you'd remove gas out before releasing the charge.
Good info in this video. Do you have any links to more in depth videos for inline carbonation? ie, best pressures and so on. Is this more efficient than carbonating in keg? Thanks Craig
If you are really interested in inline carbonating I would really recommend that you get the carbonation rector keg lid. This is really built for the application and although you could use this for the application the carbonation reactor lid is better.
Always ahead of the rest of the market. Awesome work Kegland! Hope to test this as well as the whole tri clover series! Can't wait for it to be available in europe! Any projections btw regarding when will it reach european retailers?
I think the new BrewZilla Tri-conicals will start to surface in Europe by end of July. Things like this hop bong will be available shortly after. Just keep hasting your local retailer so they order the items a bit quicker. Often the retailers if they order too slowly they miss out and the product sells out.
Hey, just got this assembly and I’m confused (sorry) about how it should be set up prior to dry hopping to maintain pressure during fermentation. When I look at the butterfly valve it doesn’t completely close, there is a tiny gap so it’s not going to hold pressure. Whats the recommended config prior to dry hopping? Thanks
Holy crap your products are awesome! Does the lid have holes for the temp twister + probe? And if not, is there a way to use the hob bong setup and temp twister + probe simultaneously?
Thanks for that. We really appreciate the support. Yes you can use the hop bong with the temp twister. We are going to put some kits together so these are available on our website soon.
Hi guys, this product look awesome, do you have a similar solution for the kegmenter series? I am beginning to change from plastic fermenters to stainless steel.
Hey Kelwin. We have the BrewBuilt pressure pack lid and you can adapt the 1.5inch hop bong to this one: www.kegland.com.au/brewbuilt-pressure-pack-with-floating-dip-tube.html
Fun! I'm curious if the pump on the brewzilla gen 4 35l is sufficient to push wort through the hop Randall setup (say full of t90) on the way to the fermenter? (Assuming use of a slightly finer screen as noted in another comment)
How many seconds and at what PSI would you recommend for the purge in the 2" assembly with full capacity. I'm thinking continuous purge at 8 PSI for 45 seconds. What you think? Thats typically what I do on my nukatap filler when purging bottles
Continuous purge is good but difficult to know how much gas is going through. By pressurising up to say 3 bar then releasing this to atmosphere 3 times you can be more quantitative and have high degree of confidence the O2 will be below 1% for instance.
Great idea to avoid oxygenation. What is a total height I need to have in my fridge to fit this complete setup (with fermzilla 55) including some free space for operations?
@kegland, could you please look into creating a kegmenter compatible lid out of engineered plastic like the new fermzilla range that has a TC lid so hop bong could be used among other things?
Will you sell the whole 2 inch assembly (with fermentor lid) as a kit? Tried to buy one of these when you put the last video out, but some of the parts weren't available so I didn't bother.
The Cornelius lids are generally for kegs. Kegs are not really designed for fermentation but for storage of finished beer. As a result we do not have plans to make this any time soon.
I agree. @KegLand That or some similar solution would be awesome. Lots of homebrewers are fermenting in cornelius kegs. You made the lids with a floating dip tube post, so the hop bong next will make sense
Yes definitely it could do this too. It can handle boiling hot wort so you can use as a hop missile or for hopstand. I should have really shown this too
@@KegLand I will! But meanwhile i have already ordered the Brewbuilt-Lid, to workaround. Since this has no PRV I am very interested in ur upcoming solution.

Kegland stuff is awsome... Just such a shame you can't get half of it in England. Shipping from China is OK but they don't stock everything.... Its a real pain.
Hey Darren. Quite a lot of the time is just customers like yourself just request it from your local KegLand distributor and then they will often order the stock from us shortly after. Which home brew distributor in UK do you purchase from?
I think to get high level of carbonation I think the carbonation keg lid is still the best option as you can get to much higher saturation levels more easily with this device that is purpose built.
Right on spot. All you need now is a version that uses a 2” TC ferrule instead of the Fermzilla lid connection and you have an instant sankey keg fermenter kit. I made one from stainless TC parts and have been fermenting with a floating dip tube and purged dry hopping with a sight glass in 1/2 bbl sankeys for several years now and it works fantastic.
Or i think we can just use some 4" to 2" stainless adapter and then attach that bong. This needs some modification and welding work though. But then again, we don't need that Keglands hop bong at all.. ;)
If I'm pulled over by the Cops and they see one of these on the seat beside me will I be charged with having drug paraphernalia? And more to the point can I sue Kegland? 😂
how long before KL release a RAPT butterfly valve LOL... Imagine setting this up so the fermentation CO2 off gas is going straight into your preloaded hop bong (with spunding valve atop). Once the pill hits a certain gravity, the valve automatically opens.... the entire process would be automated if you had RAPT temp control as well haha then what? automated kegging? haha
Sorry Carl. We thought it would be funny but perhaps some of our customers might see this the wrong way. KegLand does not encourage the use of drugs (except alcohol and maybe caffeine ). I hope that sets the record straight.
