I already bought the jet a month ago to learn on and I'm absolutely loving it!!! How are you finding it? I bought some slinky strings and put those straight on it as the only negatives I'd heard was the strings were poor, so I did that before even playing it. Loving it. (And it's sea foam green)
@@TheSd1cko I've not changed the strings yet, but I probably will, but I think the shop I bought it from might have changed the strings before hand anyway, certainly it was all setup nicely. Like you I'm a newb and I've got the green one. Love playing it!
@@jcardboard I think they actually put a coating on the strings, maybe to keep them in better nick if they're in storage? Although they feel scratchy when you take it out the box, we've found that after about 20-30 mins of playing they actually feel okay!
Did any of you had fret buzz/popped out fret or any QC issues? I bought a JS450 and have the aforementioned problem. Thinking of replacing it but not sure whether I just get another similar one.
I recently got one of the JS400 in pink. It's a brilliant guitar for the money. Miraculously, it was pretty much in tune out of the box which is always a good sign. The one thing I probably will change is the humbucker for something with a bit more string definition for big drop D chords but it's perfectly servicable as is. Shame they're a bit difficult to get hold of at the mo but definitely worth picking one up if you see them.
Thanks for sharing your great experience man. Top idea about upgrading some hardware. Jets make for a great project guitar, based on price alone! All the best - Sam
I'm trying to order two Fazely guitars which are made by the same factory as Jet and are much less than the Jet but they may not ship to Canada so in that case Il order a Jet once they offer a sonic blue for the 400 series in hss, currently only the 300 offers blue in sss. Do you ship to Canada and how much would your price be shipped door to door. Thanks for the demo.
Thanks guys. I kept finding used Affinity guitars in Chicago. I wanted to like them. Just felt there was something better yet affordable. I kept looking. Saw Jet JS-300 and Jet JS-400 reviews. Bought the JS-400 with its HSS format. Looking f I rward to it arriving.
I enjoyed your video. It was a tipping point in buying a Jet JS-400. Two reasons I didn't but an Affinity. 1. Played a few in Chicago but they didn't grab my heart. 2. I read Affinity has a smaller nut than other strats. I didn't want to learn guitar with a non-standard neck 0:02 I'm just a beginner but playing every day for a month. I have the calloused on my left fingertips to prove it. Keep up the fine videos.
@@slowswimmer9169 I bought a Jet JS400. It's a retirement gift to myself. On feelings alone, I never did warm up to the Squier Affinity Strats I tried.
Got the JS400 a week ago. Turned up perfectly set up, right down to the trem dropping a perfect semitone and holding tune better than my pre-CBS Strat. I own an OCD number of guitars, and this is not just amazing for a budget Strat, but is just a really nice banjo in it's own right. Massively impressed. Ta.
They're stunning right?! considering a roasted maple neck by fender is 300 odd quid, it's pretty nice of them to throw in the rest of the guitar free for half the price.
I have a Jet JS-400 coming this Friday. I don't like the logo either. I'm not a big strat guy. I figure it anything the Jet will be a good mod platform.
That’s my favorite part about the lower end squiers! I have had multiple $2,000 or more strats and yet I prefer the thinner body’s of the Squier. I replace nearly every other aspect of the instrument, but the body is amazing.
@@CrystalStorm93 Havent tried the fusion 3 so my vote is only going to be for the Jet at this time, see if you can try them both first! - Cheers! - Sam
The cheap Affinity Strats used to be good guitars a long time ago as when i first learnt to play in 2005 my dad got me a Toys R Us Squier Strat pack you know the one with the amp included and gig bag etc but the quality of the Chinese Strat was surprisingly good , it had the satin neck back then and a good rosewood fretboard and the body was real Alder not basswood , so sad to see Squier now cheeping out on the sub £200 guitars , I will buy a Jet over a Squier anyday.
Thanks so much your feedback Christine! It must be said that Jet really have slayed the game when it comes to a first instrument. I'd reccomend these guitars to anyone however, which really is a testimony to how lovely they are to play. Thanks again, and stay awesome! - Sam
@@HickiesMusicStore Thanks again Sam , also even Gear 4 Music are making quality guitars now , Dave Simpson playing one of their LA Legacy guitars really made it sing , does help to run it through a Marshall amp though lol
People complaining about "too much talking", but my autistic level of attention to detail makes the talking great for me. Not many videos of people going into detail on these guitars. Got one coming tomorrow, not a big strat guy but am gonna use it for some softer music, some Chris isaak and pink Floyd type stuff, maybe even some srv, as all my guitars are more suited for metal... I'm sure it'll make a great addition to my collection, especially for the price. Am a big fan of roasted maple necks and fretboards, and my Harley benton is the only guitar I own with one. Have heard great things about the playability of these, but if I come across any issues with the hardware, it's an easy fix. P.S, really digging the playing from you guys, some very nice phrasing and note selection. Sounds great, could fall asleep to it Great video guys, take care.
Use 4 springs with 9s on the Jet, dial it in and once the strings stretch to playing length the trem is like a rock. However the guitar is totally worth a bridge upgrade. You could upgrade saddles and get a full size steel block or pick a good Korean Wilkinson, but so far the knife edge on the stock bridge plate seems pretty sturdy and the pivot studs are stainless
Why would the Jet be any less of a guitar than a higher priced strat like the players series? The Jet is probable nicer than a fender players.Ive checked oyt the new fender players ,Not worth 900.00! more like a 400.00 guitar I have a players tele after I put agood warmoth neck on it and got those weak pickups changed ,Its pretty nice now ,So just buy the Jet youll save alot and have a better guitar
Thanks for your feedback John, and while thats also terrible grammar, we'll be sure to make sure both guitars are in tune for future videos! Hope you are having a great day wherever you are! Cheers - Sam

Ello mate! we did find that they were coated before shipping, however on the ones in our store we found they played like normal after we'd played them in and set them up, might be worth a look, don't give up hope just yet! We as standard set up all guitars sold in our store, and so far are REALLY enjoying the jets. Hope you enjoy yours too. :)
My first reaction was the same but after a while they were fine. Also it's been a while since a played a full set of 9s. I'm keeping them on until they deaden and then I will replace the tone pot. I've got a lefty model and it's basically an on off switch.

For a guitar tone comparison they should go through the same amp and with no pedals. Pretty much impossible to compare them in this video.
