    This is such an amazing video! I love grungy palettes and I've never seen anyone actually analysing and showing this many of them! For me an absolute number 1 is Venus II by Lime Crime!

    Thank you for making content like this that shows off interesting parts of your collection! It’s fascinating to see so many different color stories compared and contrasted, and more so to hear your take on the aesthetics of them.

      Agree! It’s wonderful to see conversations like this happen in the beauty space - reminds me why I fell in love with makeup ; the ability to transform one’s look depending on mood / do different things with different colors and be creative is part of what I love about beauty (grunge will always have a special place in my heart even though it’s not my look most days )

    I love what you did with your fave shades in the Wilderness palette in the Kaleidos packaging!
    I also love that this video is really long! I adore watching all about eyeshadow palettes.

    Hi Maaike I don't think the grungy vibe is really my thing as far as most of these go. I love a smoky eye and have worn that look for most of my life. I did the goth thing in my late teens and I've genuinely been a rock chick/biker for the majority of my adult life. However the acidic yellows and swampy greens are not my vibe at all and there is a big difference between a grungy look and a smoky look. Smoky looks are easy to do on pale skin and for me are very cool toned looks eg grey, navy, dark teal, deep green, deep purples and even a dark taupe. Berry shades can be difficult to wear as an overall predominant colour, but can be a beautiful accent shade. Khaki type murky green is also something that's more of an accent colour for me. Antique golds work better than bright/warm golds, but they're still more of an accent shade for me. I'm never ever going to wear all those murky tones blended together and my smoky looks have a gradient/blended effect with some lightness/brightness - otherwise it looks like I have been punched in the eyes. I'm also someone who doesn't wear warm tones hardly at all and if I do it's very specific in placement/more of an accent or contrast. Maybe it's because I'm a bit older now and at 50 feel I need a softer daytime look, but my smoky eyes are reserved for evening/event makeup where I want that drama and the lighting isn't as bright. I'm never going to give up the black mascara and my eyeliner, but too much murkiness on the eye isn't flattering on me nowadays. I can still rock a smoky eye and do, but murky is a different thing entirely. However seeing the different palettes compared was interesting (as always) and I enjoy the viseart palette shown, but very few of these are something I would buy. Surprisingly what did catch my eye was the Melt millenial pinks palette and before this video Melt wasn't a brand I thought might work for me - their palettes are predominantly dark toned, or warm/bright. This one however is much lighter looking and I love greys with pinks. Best wishes.

      I don't really wear eyeliner. I find it nearly always too stark.

    • @lorainemcgillivray77
      @lorainemcgillivray77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FloatinginDreams Soft/smudgy eyeliner isn't stark and doesn't have to be black. Indeed I rarely wear black eyeliner and instead opt for a colour or softer grey tone. It's also about placement as I tightline for definition and use a softer shade on the lower lashline. Shadow sticks are also useful for doubling up as an eyeliner during the day. x

    Thank you for telling me about Glamshop! I am placing an order for some the nine pan palettes that I want! Also, I tried ordering from Meesha Lou but all they have is the warm toned palette.

    You have such a great collection of grungy palettes! I want that fall magic palette so bad! I’m really thinking about it. I have never ordered indie makeup before. I want to try Melt too. I just haven’t found the right one. The palettes available are either too dark, too colorful or too warm……all things that make Melt Melt! 😂. Gemini 2 is most appealing to me.

    I’m kinda sad Zoeva doesnt sell larger palettes anymore, they stopped before I got my hands on them. They might not be the most trendy palettes, but they seem to have been a solid budget option for neutrals + subtle color

    I'm panning the makeup rev dupe of the lorac Pro 2... I have 4 shades left 2 of which have pan... I saved my favourite shade for towards the end which is... the grungy green 😁😁

      Half the fun of makeup imo is trying new looks - worse case scenario you don’t like the first look and wash it off (and then find ways to make it work for you if you are called to )

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As someone already mentioned: you can always wash it off. Or grab your fave neutrals and combine some of the shades. That way you can ease yourself into ir.

    I love grungy palettes
    that said, I am glad the SGxT quintessence is dark and clear vs dark and murky because it's really easy to find grungy palettes but dark and clear is hard to find (imo)
    also I feel like warm tones suit grunge well!

    • @FloatinginDreams

      I like it too but I wish the two mattes that were different between the light and the dark palettes wouldn't be as grey toned.

    I'm thinking of buying nabla blush lola. I have acne prone skin. Does the blush show texture on your skin? Does the blush have a little bit of sheen or alot of shimmer. Is the tower 28 blush happy hour close to nabla lola?

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never experience blushes showing any texture so I am not the right person to ask. I do have closeups on my blog of what this looks like on my skin

    I really dislike most shades people call murky... Warm yellowy greens, baby poo browns, acidic yellows and heavy purply browns 😑 just brrr.
    I really like cool toned or neutral grungy shades though like grey tone greens, teals, greys, dirty bronze and gold, gunmetals... I like reds and cool purples too. But I feel like we don't really see much cool and neutral grungy palettes. For years and years its too much murky swampy shades. So it's nice seeing so many different palettes

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I think that's what most people would consider a grunge palette. But to me a palette with blacks is just as well a grungy palette.

    • @exomake_mehorololo
      @exomake_mehorololo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FloatinginDreams nowadays perhaps. I quite well remember a time where grungy was a thing and it was cool toned.... These super heavy warm fall colours are very much a product of the later 2010s. Its nice to have some variety....

    • @user-xm1od9nb1m
      @user-xm1od9nb1m ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I really like these colors but they can wash me out since I have a neutral-cool skin tone. Line you said I also loove a olive green or a muted blue. Also pewter and taupe shades will always have my ❤

  • @exomake_mehorololo
    @exomake_mehorololo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's sometimes a bit disappointing that we don't hear about interesting indie brands simply because they don't send out free products... I get why PR helps channels to try out a lot of different brands but some of the "bigger" channels focused on indie brands seem to mainly only care about brands that work w them and have little interest to discover any other brands. It kind of starts feeling like product pushing and less exciting too because you see the same few brands everywhere... Its not any different than mainstream consumption where everyone follows the hype and whatever is the few top brands

    • @FloatinginDreams
      @FloatinginDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's a bit more nuanced than that. Bigger creators simply get sent too much product which is why they only talk about what is hyped up. Even if they once started off promoting smaller brands.
