    I’m getting ready to mount 28 X 250W solar panels on my 40’ shipping container. I can build anything, plumb it and run basic electrical but have such a hard time with all this. Even 20 years ago taking “Maintenance exams” for work, the electrical part just doesn’t set into my brain. Thank dog for the internet and mostly as of late, Engineering Mindset. Thanks.

    THANK YOU! I love that you use practical things that we use in our everyday lives to explain this. I watched a few videos before this and it didn't make any sense. This video is AMAZING short and sweet but seriously helped me along a class I am taking that started randomly using AC/DC acronyms assuming I know anything about it which I do not.

    I would argue that saying that DC can be converted to AC is misleading. Does it alternate? Sure. But is it a pure sine wave, no! It is simulated via steps, meaning how long a “gate” is activated. The more steps, the closer it resembles an pure sine wave, but it is not one.

    • @LawrenceLaffer
      @LawrenceLaffer 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But, it does alternate. So AC.

    Sir good day...I am the one of your youtube subscribers, I always watched your knowledgeable videos thank you sir for sharing us your knowledge. Can you make a video sir about automotive ignition system ( primary coil attached from battery other end to a transistor inside the computer or the ignition coil itself which have a transistor incorporates into ground to on/off circuit) (2nd coil is attached to ground other end is to the spark plug) now I wondering why the current flows through spark plug gap to produce spark where their is a gap represents resistance open loop. And the current is always flow through less resistance,now why current will flow to gap rather than to the end of a 2nd coil that is being attached directly to ground where their's less resistance? Thank you sir hope you will answer this question...god bless

    I know how to not get shocked on low voltage. And how circuit logic would theoretically pan out. I regularly have to replace compressors for work, and other stuff like that, refurbishing certain machines. Trouble shooting the fairly basic power distribution for the AC to DC portion was really slow. Luckily last time I had trouble, I knew the Board took DC, while the other mechanical parts took the AC. So I just had to follow the paths, and make sure I knew exactly were to touch with the meter, when I flipped on the power. It was a bad transformer last time. Not the fuses. It took me an hour of running through the logic before I was confident I was correct. I was. Fun. So fun. I probably could have used this then.

    A question for Paul or anyone smarter than I... I have an obscure home heater that was never actually produced other than the initial one month run before the company went under. (a parts nightmare).It's 100% 12V via an onboard inverter with the idea that it can be run on a battery backup system.
    Problem: I need to replace a 7-inch diameter pull style fan that currently runs @ 12V/1.8amps... I can find many 'replacements' that offer the needed CFM but are rated at about 7 amps (Automotive cooling fans).
    The trouble is that my fan is controlled by the main circuit board which offers 3 speeds with the highest being what I would assume is a "full current" meant for the 1.8 amp original p.o.s... Will adding a fan with a larger amp rating fry my little circuit panel? Any insight or suggestions would be awesome. Getting COLD in Wisconsin. :))
    **I COULD run (and would almost prefer to run) a fan with a separate power supply and a motor speed control, but would then I would need to know how to "fool" the panel into thinking the original is still in place, as the board goes into some sort of safety mode when the factory fan is disconnected, which might be the easier solution.

      @@EngineeringMindset It is because the magnet has a north and south pole, almost like a negative and positive charge which, either pushes the electrons out when it is the negative side of the magnet but attracts when it is the positive charge?

  • @Dinga_Detta_Chhangte

    Is it true that AC has more voltage and more powerful, DC has less voltage, less powerful. Is it possible to have DC with 230 voltage and AC 9 Voltage?

    • @E500Match
      @E500Match 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. First invert the DC to AC. Then use a transformer to get your desired voltage.

    • @Descolata
      @Descolata 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. We don't generally do that because Current tends to drive torque, but it also drives losses. So, for DC devices, we deliver with VERY high voltage AC (cheap to deliver) and easy to down volt) and then power devices with a more balanced mix of Current and Voltage to get the motor characteristics we want (not everything is motor based... but a lot is).
