This was the first subtitle anime I watched. Warning my story is long lol My family is really into anime, my grandma was the first and she got me into it big time but she has bad vision and even though she always had subtitles on anything she watched she could barely read it. She had me watching anime from the moment I was born basically and it was always dubbed, I also had no idea but for a long time I had needed glasses but I didn’t know until I was 18. My other grandma was the only person to figure out I needed glasses, I thought she was just being weird or something and I insisted I didn’t but she set up an doctors appointment without telling me and the day of she said we were going to another graveyard trash pickup but we arrived at her eye doctors and I felt so bamboozled lol. It’s honestly a miracle she was the only one to notice, but it ties in because I had seen every single dub anime on Netflix Hulu, adultswim and even off not so ethical sites online. I watched very very inappropriate anime at single digit age, I wasn’t allowed to but I did anyways because I was desperate for anime to watch. I kept trying to watch sub but I had to get super close to the TV and I was obviously straining my eyes, I kept trying to focus my eyes and it would work for a couple seconds and I’d have to blink, relax my eyes then try again and I ended up getting insane headaches. My family thought I was lying and being dramatic when I tried to explain that I didn’t like reading because it hurt and made me dizzy lol. But things changed when I got my own desk top, my family had this hobby of finding cheap parts for all sorts of consoles and computers and just kept building computers for less then around 20$ or sometimes it didn’t close a cent. So in the house there were many many desk tops, living room had 2 my parents room had 2 my brothers room had 3 and my sister and I had one in ours, each bedroom besides my parents had 3 people sharing a room and everyone was going to have they’re own desk top, eventually I got my own. I was so desperate for this show to be dubbed because I wanted to watch it so badly but when I got my desk top I got an idea, I would watch the subtitles but if i couldn’t make out the words I’d pause and go to google try to write the subtitles to get a correction and then go to google translate and have it read out loud what it said. It was a very complicated and time consuming but I did it for this show and it was the first of many sub anime I went on to watch. I didn’t know this would happen but I got really really good at reading even though it was so so blurry and hard to make out and once I didn’t need to do that long process I rewatched it and it felt like a completely different experience and it made me like it even more. It’s not a like ground breaking anime or anything but I have a special place in my heart for it, i get so giddy when I see people watch it and it just brings me this warm,joyful nostalgic feeling🥹

honestly Sawako is like the most beautiful anime girl I have ever seen she looks so simple but like JHSAKDJBAFH 2nd place for me in terms of attractiveness is Mitsumi from Skip and Loafer its just those old style anime I really love them
Kimi ni Todoke is my safe place, kazehaya is in my top of ML because he is not just another green flag, but the standard of green flags. The openings and endings are so beautiful that I want to cry when I hear them
I never expected you to watch this anime, but it is my favorite Shoujo and it can be a little slow but I hope you enjoy it as much as I did... I'm terrified of what Netflix is gonna do with the next season but I'm super hyped about seen it again this year...
