I have had a Clarisea 5000 for more than 4 years and it still works fine. Changing the roll is fiddly but stapling the new to old and feeding it through is not too much hassle. I then just use a stanley knife to cut off the old roll off in chunks. It's well worth getting the fittings to plumb it in with flexible hose.
The alarm is a pain because if the motor does not turn because your water is clean, it still goes off - almost every day!

The only thing you missed on the Red Sea is the sensor detects the water level inside the unit and outside to prevent unnecessary activation of the rolling fleece.

I am not sure on the other brands you mentioned but don’t know if any others that have that. It’s nice when you have a feed mode for your pumps and and the level in your sump is temporarily elevated or during power outages before the pumps pull the sump back to operational level.

Neither of the model, have it. I think.
BM, did... however... understand this. If the roller is constant for more than 5sec, it will locked the pump. Once the water dropped back normal range (when the float deactivated) for about 20secs, it runs normally. But yes, you do lost about 30-40cm worth of roll, everytime the power run out but since my power don't run out too often, it's not an issue.
I never shut down my pumps for feeding.

@@austinjt4264 Agreed it’s a non issue for most and not really huge difference I am just picky. Haha

I have the original bubble magus. The Large size. Putting it together was easy. It works good had it for over a year and my roll last at least 2 months. However change the roll can be annoying

I have two gen 3 Clarisea units and both of them are full of issues. #1 they quit auto feeding pretty soon after going into service. #2 they are a pain to re thread with new fleece. #3 They take a fair amount of time to put together #4 since neither unit auto feeds anymore after less than a years service I have to manually push the feed button to advance the fleece.

Hold the power and feed button at the same time for 10 seconds to fix that feed issue 👍🏻

I have the clarisea 5000 and its fine but I like the Theiling the best with its big barrel and a roll that lasts for about 5 months. Its too bulky for my new arrangement, hence the clarisea.

I've just invested in a 1800 CADE Reef tank which is around 700+ litres (including sump) and am looking at a mat system for it. The CADE sump actually has a 4-sock pre-filter so was looking at something to replace those. Was originally looking at the KLIR units as they literally just drop into a filter sock well but my LFR has recommended against them mainly due to the overly expensive mat replacement costs. What would you guys suggest as a "be-all" for the CADE setup please?

This video showed up in my suggestions and it could not have come at a better time. I want to upgrade my Red Sea Max nano in the nearby future and definitely want a roller mat in there. This video is an excellent extensive comparison. The only thing I am missing in here is costs and availability of the filter rolls. That is also something I want to take into account in my choice.
Of course I subscribed, thank you for posting this video. Kind regards from Austria.

I know the factor who produce the Fleet.
So for me, I make my own roller fleet, model after Red Sea of course. But using BM parts.
The issue I didn't use the original red sea, it's the Basket inside was too small. I could actually, use the original BM it's still not big enough, neither could withstand my 6000L high turn-over SPS system. So I model my own with a much bigger basket, almost 2 times the size of BM ARF-L.
But after modelling based off structure of BM, I adopted Red Sea Quick change system... but sadly, to due large flow, I can only use 35micron fleet, but cannot trap as well as original BM which is 80micron. I try 40micron, it worked well, except a fleet of 75M, ran out in 5days. But 35micron lasted about 6 weeks. It is insane on how just 5micron, makes such a huge different impact on its duration. No wonder BM removed its 50micron from the shelves. Yes... They do produce a 50micron version... But later remove it completely from the shelves and sell only 1 kind. It's obvious to me that 50micron lasted for far too long.

Hi, what would yous recommend for a 1400 litre aquarium. 2 clarisea sk500 or one large innovtech??? Great video btw😁

    • @CharterhouseTV
      @CharterhouseTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's a difficult one Keith as other factors will play part in the decision, such as the number of drains and flow rate. If you know these you should try to match the recommended flow rates for each unit for best performance. Drop us an email or call if you want to discuss this in more detail.
