  • Welcome to Arizona!!
    Our first stop is the Fort Courage Ruins.
    Then we drive on the worst wash-board dirt-road I’ve ever been on to get to the historic Querino Canyon Bridge - it was built in 1929.
    On the way to the abandoned Stop ‘n Go gas station The 55 feels strange…
    I call Wilwood Mike and he thinks I need new brake pads so I limp it into Holbrook where we discover that I blew out a wheel bearing!!
    In Holbrook I get to sleep in a Wigwam at Wigwam Village #6.
    Have you ever seen the inside of one of the three remaining Wigwam Village motels?
    Do you want to?
    I’ll take you inside and give you a tour of the Wigwam Village in Holbrook, AZ.
    We also check out the Bucket of Blood Saloon.
    Seriously - it’s called the Bucket of Blood Saloon.
    And right across the street is a building made out of petrified wood and blocks of turquoise!!
    Dinner at Romo’s Mexican Restaurant then a movie at the oldest working movie theater on Route 66 - The Roxy.

    Great entry into AZ with Fort Courage! Glad you got to Holbrook for that wheel bearing fix! The Wigwam Motel was a class stay and then a movie at the Roxy Theater. The Bucket of Blood Saloon was a history lesson in this Arizona stretch of Route 66. More fun on the Route 66 adventure!

    Everything on that car is very DIY fixable. Feel bad you are having a few issues but you do drive the hell out of that "55". Wheel bearing on that should be repacked and inspected yearly. It is actually something YOU could do in a couple of hours just hanging out in your driveway having a couple of beers on a nice summer's day. Learn how-to old-school hand pack them, don't be using that junkie plastic bearing packer. The video was great. I haven't been there (AZ) yet but I'm looking forward to it this June.

    • @jeffthisted
      @jeffthisted  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @jeffthisted
      @jeffthisted  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with you @davidjustice5805 !! That's why I built The 55 to drive it. But you're wrong when you say it's the same as buying a new Ford truck. Modern vehicles have modern conveniences that classic cars don't have - like anti-lock brakes, shoulder belts, air filtration systems and a whole lot more.
