- How to remove the EGR valve and intake manifold from the 1KD-FTV Diesel engine KUN 26 (N70) series Toyota Hilux
I did this video quite some time ago and it is provided as a guide only, be aware of stored high pressure fuel in the fuel lines, keep all the fuel system as clean as possible (better than I did in this video) to avoid contaminants in the system.
I have since fitted a catch can prevent most of the oil in the intake to reduce the build up of carbon
Thanks for watching
Just want to thank you for this video.
Your filming, timing and explanation are amazing. You really helped me do this job much more calmy.
Great video thanks ... Calm and thoughtful narrator .. good camera work too ... Really useful
Awesome bro thank you very helpful
what can cause a 1kd hilux to overboost but at the same time feel sluggish at moving off
Thank you!
nice content. At 10:53 on the right looks like a filter with straight inlet and outlet for the small hose. May I know what it is call and the function. How often does it need to be replace? Thank you
Hey mate, the white and black one? That's the MAP sensor oil filter, it stops any oil vapor entering the MAP sensor.
They occasionally crack and you'll see oil around them, as for replacement they are not a common service item, however you can remove and blow out or, like I have shortly after this video, you can replace.
I got my replacement for $19.99 and its an easy change out item.
Edit** Sorry, you were talking about the one with straight inlets and outlets, I believe this is just a screen/damper for the vacuum into the egr diagram, unless it is damaged it requires no maintenance.
Hope this helps!
@@simmoshomeworkshop Thank you for your explanation. The MAP sensor filter white and black which side should use black on top or white?
Black on top from memory, mine had 'AISIN' on it and was written the right way up when fitted.
There's a clip to hold it in place
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
My hilux d4d has 400.000km. Since 90.000 with egr blocked.
Is it necessary to do this ??
I'd say if the egr is blanked off entirely it's probably not going to be an issue for you. You could always take the intake butterfly off and shine a torch into the egr valve to gauge the severity of the intake contamination
@@simmoshomeworkshop how to off intake butterfly?
Great video! If I’m changing the glow plugs does the the whole EGR filter and fuel lines also have to be removed?
Nah mate, should be able to remove the glow plugs without removing all the lines and intake
@@simmoshomeworkshop hi mate, I watched your previous video about programming the key, any chance you can tell me where you purchased the key blank with remote, thanks
@@Jamestee1 eBay mate I searched "hilux key transponder"

Hey mate hows it going ive just done this myself thanks to your video, how do i make sure the fuel pipes are clean before reinstalling and i got some carbon in one of the tube pipe things on the manifold how would i go about unblocking it cheers
Hey mate, any non-residue solvent cleaner to make sure the tubes are clean and contamination free, I use contact cleaner / carby cleaner or similar aerosol spray.
As for carbon in the Manifold, a flexible steel pipe cleaner goes well and from memory oven cleaner was really good at breaking down the heavy carbon deposits.
Is this what they call the ‘egr delete’ and is that where u out the blank plate? On the egr cooler? Im trying to put a blank plate on my egr but cant a video specifying where to actually put the blank plate
Hey mate, I was just disassembling and cleaning here, yep I did mention the egr blank at one point there, it goes before the cooler on the 2 bolt flanged tube (the steel one with the accordian flexible section). Be sure to have a small hole on the blank (7mm) to avoid engine codes, and if the blank has slotted holes you can loosen the tube and slide the blank between the cylinder head and the tube more easily
Hope this helps
Prease help me,my 1kd engine after starting the hydrin will be normal but after 40 seconds it start going up to 2000rpm
Mate you didn't cap off your common rail, ( contamination) right there!
We need a full explanation of his fridge
What year and how many miles has that vehicle done ? ...great video btw
2009, 380,000Kms, thanks!
@@simmoshomeworkshop wow. Was it the first time you cleaned the egr and manifold on this rig? It looks really clean for the mileage.
@@kevincruz7290 yeah mate 1st time for me owning this car, I've had it for around 90000 kms
Have the injectors been changed on this ?
celaning theese parts on a 2006 Adventure will help performance?and if there is a problem(maybe also too dirty) will it show on error screen or give engine code?thnx
mine is at 320.000 km without any problems just feels bulky and gives me 72hp on dyno app

Q but why would one remove it ?
is it possible to change the glow plugs without removing the intake manifold....thanks
Did you get it done without removing the manifold, I've just faced into it this evening and it doesn't look possible
Hey mate, I need to do this with mine. Do you need to replace any gaskets etc or can they be used again? Tia.
Hey mate, replacements aren't really necessary, toyota use a shim like metal gasket on the intake air flange joins so they can be used again if needed.
I did however put a very thin flexible gasket maker on a couple of the metal gaskets where the surfaces didn't look perfect.
Hope this helps 👍
@@simmoshomeworkshop thanks mate. Do you know much about blocking the EGR on these? Does it cause other problems?
You can block the egr with a plate on the head side of the egr pipe and cooler, BUT you will eventually get a diagnostic code and end up in limp mode.
I ran an egr blank with the 7mm hole drilled in it for a short time but had some crazy boost spikes while it was fitted.
I have since removed the restriction plate and fitted the provent catch can.
Personally I think the catch can is a better more permanent fix for oil build up.
@@simmoshomeworkshop yeah Righto. So it’s just the oil from the intake mixing with the carbon from the EGR that creates the build up? With the catch can fitted the carbon shouldn’t build up as much correct?
Yeah pretty much, you can either remove the carbon / soot from entering the intake by blocking or restricting the egr system or limit the oil vapour entering the intake from the breather by using a catch can ( or of course both).
Neither soot or oil are terrible on their own, but together are awful.
hola buenas noches soy de Argentina me gustaría que se pueda cambiar el subtítulo para poder enter y aprender que sea en castellano español desde ya gracias
How many kms did you have on your car
Just under 400,000 mate
Toyota Regius a disel 2KD fabrico 2006
Is that KUN or GUN?
KUN mate
@@simmoshomeworkshop thank you so much sir
Maf filter looks cracked.
Yeah looks like it, good pick up. I'll check it out, thanks!
