I'm 81, and this was the first film to move me to tears when I was 11. Still one of my 10 favorites of all time. Everything about it is classic, and the theme music is incredible.
Because it brings us Baby Boomers back to a time when we were young and dressed up in our cowboy's cap pistols, holsters and outfits and had our heroes on the big screen and tv that taught us good morals as to respect our parents, country and Love God.
Debbie. 87 now. Special Showing 'Shane' Uk. 1953. Sat- On RAF- AirForce- Camp Seats! I Could Not Stop Cry 😢ing at the End And Shed Years TOday. Beautiful Music/Lyrics Still! Never Foregotten! Stunning Everything Specially Camera work/Photography!
Just like Joey, whenever I listen to this music (or see the movie) I'm driven to tears cause I feel myself running after my dear Dad, who used to love this film, and passed away when I was just a little kid. Missing him a lot!
Thank you soooo much for posting this. The only other recording I've ever heard of this person singing this, ever so wonderfully, was really scratched up. ~~~~~
Every man must call it the way he sees it. I never feel more at home than when I wonder down a mountain forest path or cross a windswept ridge and crest a peak to see vistas sublime. It is the call of the far away hills.
thank you so much for posting this I have always loved the haunting melody and played the first few notes over and over on the guitar and did not know until today that there were lyrics. I just love this film Allan Ladd was born to play Shane, now I need to find the singer she is wonderful so clear with perfect diction
My dad loved this film so much he'd watched it 11or more times before I was born and named me after it. We got to watch it together at the pictures and on TV. It still stops me when it's on and I have to watch the film or listen to the music.
the song told the story of "shane" - i saw this when i was 4 - i'm going on 62 - glad i found the words to the music - the greatest western & greatest gunfight in movie history -
Mysterious stranger with a violent past comes to the aid of some poor farmers, solves their problems, then leaves, unable to fit in with the people he's just helped. Reminds me of "Seven Samourai" and "The Magnificent Seven".
Um......(Sang this song) Dolores Gray (June 7, 1924 - June 26, 2002) was an American actress and singer. She was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical twice, winning once.
mamatibbors cassady He surely was. He'd made "Member of the Wedding' but it was held up, then Shane....he did some tv. but in1963 he did Hud, with Paul Newman, I absolutely adored him, who could forget that face ? He died here in Denver, auto accident, I was so sad.....

Because it brings us Baby Boomers back to a time when we were young and dressed up in our cowboy's cap pistols, holsters and outfits and had our heroes on the big screen and tv that taught us good morals as to respect our parents, country and Love God.
Me too.
Three beautifuls. The lady, the instrument and the tune. The tune and Alan Ladd should have both been given an academy award. An Aussie.

This is one my all-time favorite movies, as well as one my favorite songs. The movie, Shane, was filmed near the Grand Tetons. 😊

Agreed, this is the best western ever made !
I don't think the words originally were written for the tune. I could be wrong.
sure does fit
My God, what beautiful movie, what beautiful song! Allan Ladd, and Van Helflyn
This is the song I'm seeking for.It bring me back to the early age:50 years ago.

Shane ! One of the top five westerns
Truly wonderful singing and captures the longing at the heart of the film. Who is the singer?
The singer is Clint Bradley, or Dolores Gray. l like more the second one.

it's a little different than the book - i read it in the 7th or 8th grade - never knew there was a book but English teacher told us
Call from far away hills by victor young

I think this is Dolores Gray, who also appeared in Kismet, on Broadway.
Bob D Great song, great singer, Brandon DeWilda should have beengrabbed by studios, the kid was amazing.

He was a great actor. Died too young.
Yes, she was my grandfather's wife! Beautiful rendition by Dolores
Jean Arthur's last movie.....................
And almost last anything. I caught her by accident in her last role...on Gunsmoke in '65.
素晴らしい、ありがとう(^^)
@realfunny7 The very first movie I ever saw in a sit-down theater. I was 9.
pobjoy7 Dolores Gray is the singer
