Seeing as the russians have terrible military tactics, and Ukraine military was trained by NATO - I would imagine that Ukraine has lost about 1/6 the number of troops that russia has. Typically the invading force loses 3x as many, but in this case the invading force is the russians - who don’t know how to do anything without loads of sacrifice - I think Ukraine’s losses are half the 1/3 number.
So if Ukraine has lost 1/6 the number russia has, then it would be about 83,000 troops.

I just noticed one thing, the UN Security Council does not really run to look after equal rights of every member-nation of the UN. If a seating member wages an aggression, no concrete action is being done against them such as the soviet invasion of Afghanistan, UK and French aggression against Egypt, US war in Iraq and Afghanistan, Russian aggression on Georgia and Crimea (which is part of Ukraine) and recently, Russian invasion of Ukraine. But when a smaller country wages an aggression to another, the security council ended up gathering a multi-national coalition to repel the aggression and defend a sovereign nation, take the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. It seems that the security council is merely being run by the former countries far more capable of waging aggression in many countries.

Open your own eyes, you don't need anyone to tell you, that America will have to be involved, with boots on the ground in Europe. Do you think America would not fulfill its obligations to European countries if war breaks out? So, not Zelensky telling anybody anything, it will be the younger generation of soldiers from America . That will be sent to bring peace to European countries, when the war between Russia & Ukraine spills over into a few other countries joining in to help one Country or the other.

I can't imagine Poland allowing Russian forces to approach its borders without joining the war. Poland is a Nato country and if they go to war, then the UK does. So it's highly in the Wests interests for Ukraine to succeed and stop Russia. That is if you want to stop WW3.

Poland already shares border with Kaliningrad. If Poland uses Russian advance as an excuse to join in the war there's no guarantee that article 5 will protect it from Russians retaliation because Poland will be the aggressors initiating hostilities when they weren't attacked first and article 5 is defensive in nature. They will be fighting alone.

@@trumpforever6706 The USSR likely never had 40k nukes. If they had, that would have been ~1980-85. [I was on the old DEW Line then, at an Air Force stn/radar site.] Their nuclear missiles were about as well maintained as their submarine fleet, which basically rusted in place, unmaintained. America, UK and France are about at parity with Russia quantitatively, but easily superior in Quality.

The Soviets did not send this size of force to Afghanistan. Also, the Soviet regime would have never accepted 500.000 KIA/WIA/MIA. All Soviet losses of 10 years in Afghanistan were 15k. Finally they just accepted the fact that their Afghani allies betray them and 2nd, it was Gorbachev in 1989 to decide on the pullout. Today's Russia is led by a KGB gang of Soviet admirerers and Gorbachev haters.
That was a different war at a different time. The afghan mujahideen used guerilla tactics similar to that used by the taliban during the most recent war. They'd strike from the mountains and run back to their caves. Its hard to defeat an enemy you can not see. The ukraine/russia war is a war between two standing armies, one of which has a much larger army than the other.
That's a completely different thing, russia occupied the cities and the mujahideen hid in the wilds like the Taliban that they evolved into. 20 years until the USA got sick of it due to other issues that are now in play. Ukraine doesn't want to be fighting a guerrilla war.

Infantry losses are crazy on both sides.
Over 100k on both sides that is for sure, this is very intense and terrible war.
Around 150k Ukrainians and nearly 500k ruzzians according to estimates. Ukraine also has a lot of civilian losses through terrorist attacks and mass executions. It is a brutal war. The difference is that Putin is planning for more war because the moment he stops he has to admit defeat. Ukraine is planning for rebuilding and becoming a successful member of the EU. It's easier to destroy than build which puts Ukraine on the back foot.

Interesting analysis of two countries that would be doing much better if they where not at war.

I just wish that the west where as committed to ending the genocide being committed in Gasa where sadly "We" are on the side of the agresor. The kidnapping etc of Israelis' was an act of war but it followed several by Israel, both the uncontrolled illegal settlors and the government. If Russia had built a massive wall through part of Ukraine and declared everything behind it Rusia would that have been any les of an invasion. Just look at a time laps of settlor incursions onto land that did not belong to them and you will see how much Israel has invaded its neighbours land since the 50's.
Everybody hates politicians but remember their job is supposed to be negotiating conflict without war. All wars are a failure of diplomacy but one way or an other must end in diplomacy. Compromise is the marriage of fundamental differences .Agreeing and administrating these compromises provide even the most entrenched adversaries with lines of communication and surely that is what the UN ought to be fostering in both conflicts.
If you ask me, then the USA is in the progress of healing itself and Mr. Biden know's the way.
