There needs to be some kind of max I think to contracts or this problem will never get fixed. Rogers didn't need to get the bag in NY! Going to the Jets made his chances for another Super Bowl go through the roof! With Breece Hall running the ball, the play action would of been so dangerous, and Garrett Wilson doesn't even need play action against most! And their defense is incredible! They went 7-10 last year, with probably the worst QB play ever! Mike White was ranked 42nd (the highest ranked QB on the Jets) Joe Flacco 51st and Zach Wilson 59th! That is horrible! And they still won 7 games and with the Bill's and Dolphins in their division too! Now imagine Rogers playing there, that D is deadly and they're so young too! Breece would probably won the ROTY and OROY and Garrett would of been the runner up, if Breece didn't get hurt? Sauce won DROY and both their Offensive rookies would of been fighting for the OROY award, thats insane! And with a veteran like Rogers, they would of been tough to stop! And Rogers was probably looking at it like this "go to the biggest marketing city in the world with a team thats probably gonna have me at least in the championship game, and I'll just make my money in deals, and win championships!"

Perhaps getting more money against the cap in the final year of his rookie deal, or something along those lines. If winning a Super Bowl means as much to him as he claims, he should be willing to do that. It's also possible that he doesn't do that, and the wanting to win a Super Bowl talk was just that, talk. He might end up deciding that as long as Mahomes & Andy Reid are in KC together, his chances at winning a Super Bowl going forward aren't great anyway, and just take the money. These QBs are something else. You have blatant examples of how this works.
Take a team friendly deal and you have a better chance of keeping a great unit around you for multiple chip runs…example Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes.
Rob the team blind on a Max deal/ Market reset type deal, and find yourself trying to hold on to one or two great players for the next handful of seasons whilst never taking the big stage, example Aaron Rodgers. It’s not rocket science, and you’re still getting generational wealth when taking team friendly deals 🤷🏽‍♂️

Mahomes has roster bonuses, jsut like Joe, these bonuses can be converted to option/signing bonuses which can be prorated. This proration does not impact Pat or Joe in any way it is just a Cap process. Converting a bonus is NOT restructure as they deem fit.

Ya as a bengals fan this seems like a pretty casual take. Losing Higgins is maybe the 3rd or 4th biggest concern. Boyd isn’t even a concern at all. He’s been a liability in big moments and has one of the easier WR3 jobs in the NFL playing beside Chase and Higgins. The real concerns are the below average offensive play calling that has been masked by good skill players, our Oline that can never seem to figure it out, and the fact that we have the worst safety tandem in the NFL. We’re also going to lose our DC who has been absolutely critical to our playoff success. I would give up Higgins for solutions to any of those problems.

They have a top edge rusher coming up for contract this year so what do they do? They draft a top edge rusher in the draft with their first pick. Myles Murphy. Now they gave Trey Hendrickson a deal to get him through 2025 but then he is gone and the team saves money. They spent their 4th and 6th picks on Wideouts for a reason! I don't buy that. To me there's more value long term to Joe and anyone by taking less and playing on a consistently winning team than there is for getting paid a ton on a losing team. I think when you win your popularity skyrockets, your success and numbers go through the roof, everyone wants a piece of you, endorsements follow. I think the play is to take 40ish maybe instead of 55. Sounds like a lot of money to leave on the table but I think it's an investment in long term increased value. If you look at his numbers and his on field presence against other teams, he may end up being asked to take a pay cut or just not get resigned. If the Bengals can keep Chase and Higgins along with a decent RB, their third receiver shouldn't be too important. Somethings wrong. Chase can't keep his mouth shut, they had extension signing when they should have been focused on game 1, they gave up in the 4th quarter....

They're going to have to chill out with these QB contracts or do away with the salary cap. This has gotten ridiculous!

I'm not sure I get some of these arguments! How would others resetting the market after him effect anything? They still have to fit there squad in the cap regardless of what others do!
So they can't resign everyone is this new? Isn't that why there's a draft? No team should be paying 3 recivers anyway! Boyd will hit free agency and they'll take a reciver in the 2nd or 3rd round

This is the problem with these inflated Quarterback contracts. It blows up the salary cap.

I disagree, it’s a team friendly contract. 219 million guaranteed, money being paid upfront so we can sign others. We have Burrow under contract for 7 more years. We’re good! Don’t worry about it unless you’re a fan! Who Dey 😂😂😂 We have escrow money on the stadium endorsement to pay Joe’s contract. It’s one of the smartest deals similar to Jalen Hurst contract. We can sign both receivers now along with others.

You get paid based on your replacement cost. To replace a top 10 QB, you need a top 3 draft pick and some luck. Everyone else can be replaced easier.

Man they just need to lower salary caps for some positions and redistribute it, a few contracts overinflated entire positions over a few years

The question should be how great was Ray Lewis actually? Not how good, he an NFL 100 All time team, which is even beyond the HOF . In my opinion as a LB he is second only to the GOAT, Lawrence Taylor , that's how great he was. Go Hawks
