Some context to the battle Aiden was talking about for those interested, he was talking about the Anzac landing in Gallipoli although there were relatively few casualties on the Australian new Zealand side they reached a stale mate and eventually evacuated the beaches making almost no advancement.
Another cool fact about the Gallipoli evacuation was that the ANZACS used buckets and dripping water to make time delayed gun shots to give the illusion that there were more soldiers than there actually wad while they were escaping
Some more context, in Australia every year at school we learnt about it. It also probably the only battle of WW1 and 2 most Australians know about even though, Australia and New Zealand were in numerous.
Agreed, but I also think it's just because they actually said he was gone. When the others were gone, they joked that the guest was the replacement the whole time. In the previous episode, they just said he was tied in the corner the whole time
@@rafa91 dude was just saying that he felt Nick's absence had more of an impact on the pod than the other's had. That's an opinion he had and that's fine. He clearly had no ill intent. All I can really say is don't get offended for other people🤷♂️
Man, Aiden talking about Gone and Gallipoli in the same pod was insane. I'm Australian and Gallipoli is like the main part of WW1 we learn about. I also did some school in the US and it's not even mentioned. Crazy.
Ayo fellow Australian! We did so much stuff about Gallipoli in school. Simpson and his donkey, self shooting guns, the monumental fuck up by the British commanders, and ‘the band played waltzing Matilda’

the ad read for shady rays may be one of the funniest segments in this podcast's history. i could not breath from how much i laughed during that period of time
If anyone is curious, Aimen is most likely talking about the invasion and battles near Gallipoli. They're pretty defining for AUS and NZ culture and history.
As someone who's grown up in Australia and learnt about Aussie history in school, hearing Aiden describe the ANZACs fighting in Gallipoli as some battle that New Zealand fought and lost is so weird
Aiden describing the battle of Gallipoli is so surreal. Ive been to Gallipoli and seen the memorials there for both sides of the battle. Even the turks I met there look at it very similarly to how australians and new zealanders reflect on it
Now I legit want them to make a “The Boys” skit with Lud as Butcher, Nick as Mother’s Milk, Slime as Frenchy and Aiden as Hughey. It would be funny as heck.
hey, freak sludge person here. longtime viewer, wanted to thank slime for making me feel welcome. gonna finish this episode and then ooze back into my local heavily-polluted river.
I was not expecting a segment explaining the battle of Gallipoli without ever actually saying the name because he forgot it, but still getting the broad strokes right lol.
@@wyattbailey1813 He would also describe it in a very warped way that ignores the fact more British and Irish soldiers were wounded than ANZACs ever even landed.

i dont know how i missed the NZ meetup, rip. the description of the Galipoli exhibit in Te Papa (the museum in Wellington) is 100% accurate. NZ doesn't have a huge amount of notable history, something a New Zealander might get mad at me for saying, so its very fixated on what *did* happen. there's a huge patriotic streak for WWI and II in particular. like, fundraisers to this day with poppies for WWI
I was actually visiting New Zealand at the same time and visited that museum. My friends did not appreciate the bits I was dropping throughout the exhibit...
PLEASE someone comment that they noticed the ending of this pod goes directly into the skit from the newest pod i am going to literally kms if nobody talks about it CHOCOLATE WAS THE THING SLIME WAS HAVING DELIVERED!! You know this is the formal thanksgiving episode because Ludwig put away the grippers. Now the whole family can listen to Aimens lack of box
Ohhh! thats why this episode felt cozier. I didn't have to hide my second monitor.
Nicks existence is that of a side character in a movie, who gradually develops and by the end you realize he was the main character all along
woah
like the big brother from onward
Kaiser Soze? End of the pod you find out there was just a board behind Ludwig that says; roommate, "effortlessly cool", "can't be wrong"

Yes but US ‘history class’ is so skewed

I was thinking this exact comment. Josh was actually great, but I missed my boy Nick for sure.
Aimen dropping the Gone reference was legit. You know back in the day Aimen thought he was a Sam but really is an Albert
