Earl, I get comments sometimes about wanting to leave my stock motor in my xrt. When I had my xmaxx I loved it at first. Then I went down that upgrade road. Long story short I ended up hating my xmaxx. It was over powered and broke all the time. Stock motor with a max6 was fine. My xrt will get a max6 or max5 and keeping the stock motor. I'm not making my xmaxx mistake again.
EARL…. I’ve been using the orange loctite,,,it’s a little stronger than blue,,but not as strong as red,,,it’s easier to disassemble than red….I like it ..holds up pretty good….🇺🇸👈🚘
Great video brother...respectfully I disagree about Traxxas. Traxxas is expensive imo, and super expensive when modifying them. I agree about the plastic tub, but you're right when it comes to how someone drives their units. I have 3 XRT's. I'm disappointed for the price. I love the concept, but its incomplete. Bro you've saved me a ton of money and I thank u. But Arrma is better with warranty, period. I've had issues with models and they don't hesitate to send a new transmitter, esc,..u name it, without twisting their arm. For the price Traxxas's electronics are garbage and I give grace for a new platform when it comes to the bulkheads..but when you're charging premo dollars come on! Lol Arrma warranties electronics for 2 years! Traxxas 30 days.
I agree arrma will send free replacement as you are the warranty! They know they have quality control issue but they also know it’s cheaper to have the customer replace the part then pay a whole department of ppl to quality check there rc before sending them out ? A radome defect-Will happen to any company but horizon knows it’s better to just limit the number of ppl they talk to a month for warranty issues so they turn off the phones and control warranty iteams for the month and make the customer the repair department 💯💯cheaper in the end for the quarter reports 🤷🏻♂️
I really think that the OE tires on the XRT were seriously very much more of a rushed afterthought, vs spending alot of time, and money to actually develop something much better! (Regardless, and irrelevant to just becoming unglued) The XRT truly needs better tires with a better sidewall, along with dual or triple rate *progressive springs* . I wont even get started on that tho! This thing would be a *decent deal* at $599. I say that knowing good, and well what it actually costs Traxxas to manufacture each unit!l
I used a bow house motor Mount 1100kv 26/46 still fits cover for gears and lots of power there a few videos people installing them also vitavon makes a extend cover you can buy motor mount from amain or eBay it really does sit low in there

i also try to stay stock.. well actually 99% percent of what i own is stock or factory upgrades on all of my vehicles. but motors and ESCs are all stock. i just rather have alot of vehicles than a handful that have big blocks
Great video! I will say though that I'm loving my 5692 big block tp motor in my XRT. It's still super durable and I've been sending mine a lot harder than most people. Nothing like duperbash and those guys but definitely harder than majority I see on YT. I'm kind of lucky I guess though as I've had my k8s for a year now and still never bent the chassis though I bent the o8s chassis today and the XRT survived a whole pack with nothing broken.

Bonafide ripper right there might need a set of bead locks on that spicy unit. Definitely has me thinking about putting that setup in mine I don’t bash mine nearly as hard as you so that setup would perfect for where I run my R/C’s
today i took my xrt out for its third rip, first time with 8s, previously was on 6s. well, today it went on its side and i was on the throttle and one tire stopped so the other oversped and unglued one of the rear tires on the inside. its still on the stock motor and gearing as well.
I agree vitavon makes good stuff. It’s expensive but high quality. Depending on the part sometimes I go with gpm but it’s risky with certain parts. M2C makes good stuff too but customer service sucks. I ordered a outcast 8s xlx2 mount and it never arrived. Post office says delivered but it wasn’t. I’ve emailed a few times and left messages and no response. It’s getting ridiculous. I hate when companies don’t do the right thing. Good video man. All very helpful info always 👍👍

Got the max 6 with the speed gearing and stock motor in mine Earl, I personally think it's just about perfect for what i do. I want to give the Lockup X tires a try though. Keep up the great videos.
Hey Earl! Why don't you put one of those Dust Bags around the chassis to keep a lot of the debris out of the fans and gears and ESC and batteries too? I put one on my XMaxx and made so much different and even in the Snow too up in Minnesota Bro! I'm going to put one on my XRT too!🤔😉👍
Yep when you have a parts credit card and its like a house payment time to regroup lol. Sell off everything to fix a few lol.. m2c is great but metal n plastic dont mix..time you m2c out something you can buy another rc.

Hey Earl. In my Xmaxx i have the Max6 with the Hobbywing 1100kv. I run a 29 Arrma Spool with the GPM 50t. Onroad speed is 62mph. Thats perfect for temps and bash. On Field it went 54mph so i agree with you. 50mph is best for bashing an xmaxx. Your 39 pinion is way too much i think

I installed a Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor on my X-Maxx, but I had to put aluminum diff cases, diff covers, a shim in front of the outdrives in the front/rear, and an aluminum spur gear cover. Drive cups sleeves are also necessary. With those upgrades, my drivetrain can take it. For the XRT, I only installed a MMX8S, DuraTrax Lockups X tires (bigger than than stock), Radiolink TX and RX. And with those upgrades, I do backflips easily. I don't feel that I need a bigger motor for what I'm looking doing. I'm good. I'm not going crazy with this one in upgrades honestly. I'll keep the stock heating too. To each his own. Thanks for the video
@@earlmoorhead5555 not only that, but you need higher gearing for the bigger motors with lower KV. And you increase the weight dramatically with bigger batteries, the electronics, the extra aluminum etc. So your run time gets cut a lot. Meh, not worth it.
I have an SUV, so not a much of an issue for me going into construction sites, but I stopped doing that. Too much damage from hidden rocks and other debris , and for me too. I fell a few times walking around the construction site. So yeah. I'm done with that 😅

Hey great video . I feel the same way with traxxas. Parts are cheap and abundant. I run 800kv mamba xl2 setup with 30 /30 gears. Its a wheelie beast. I have seen Vitavon. There is a guy I forget his name he Vitavons everything. My setup is B&M (no its not bowel movement) its two years old and have had no problems. It would be nice to see a cover for the spur and pinion.I had Outer wear but made it a pain to change batteries. I was told to definitely stay away from the belt setups. Thanks for the video.
Do you know if the X-Maxx Toe link for steering will fit on the XRT for steering. I've seen a few non adjustable aluminum inks for the X-Max on ebay not sure if there interchangeable. Also do the X-Maxx drive shafts come in colors?
Do you need the traxxas link for your controller to be able to track the speed? I was watching a lot of videos and it seems like everyone has that app. Can you explain what i would need to do or get . I recently purchased my xrt.

This mount I had to trim the base as it hangs over the place the cover seals at as the xmaxx was a little different the XRT just won’t work with a cover maybe when everyone makes a XRT specific mount that might work then 👍💯the xmaxx ones definitely won’t as they sit on the ridge for that seal on the left side of the mounts 😳🤔
For me personally, I wouldn't even run my X-Maxx in that horrible terrain. Including that pile of rocks. That's just me though. Like I said before, TOO MUCH DAMAGE.

Thats why I sold my stock XRT tires and I put bigger Duratrax lockup tires. Way better for off road bashing.

XRT does get much but no was for the sand to stay out of the chassis and the Velcro always falls off on those covers

Yes and the mount pushed forward for the xmaxx so I trimmed the lip to make it fit where the cover goes
