how do i get onto the master branch? not sure if thats what she said or not but when i went to put a local file on the repository it failed.
To switch to the master branch during Git installation on Windows, follow these steps. First, open the command prompt or Git Bash. You can access Git Bash by right-clicking on the desired folder and selecting "Git Bash Here" or "Open Git Bash." Alternatively, use the command prompt and navigate to the relevant folder using "cd." Next, check the current branch by running "git branch." The current branch is indicated with an asterisk. If you are not on the master branch, switch to it using "git checkout master." This command updates your working directory to the latest commit on the master branch. To verify the switch, run "git branch" again, and the master branch should now be highlighted with an asterisk. By following these steps, you can easily switch to the master branch during Git installation on Windows.
Thank you so much..
You're most welcome

Yeah, so helpful...thanks.

Can you explain differnce between master and other branches
Every branch that we have is a unique branch, that means it has its own name. While, when we consider the master branch it is the branch on which all the commits are taking place. That is why the master appears on the screen only when the git init command is used, only when a repository is initialized, which states that all the commits from now on will be made in this repository.
Thank a ton.
Most welcome!

How to create a repository for already existing code/file in the system
just go the directory via terminal and type git init to initialise a repo in it and then create a new repo in your github account and then use the command git remote add origin :)

dont we need a git GUI to be installed as well. or installing via the video above covers it?? I am a bigginer, so kindly help
If you just want to instal Git in your windows then you just have to install git bash git-scm.com/download/win. It has got its own GUI built in tools.
Mam I followed throughly with u one by one but in that git push origin master command it shows src refspec master doesn't match any

I haven't seen you set up environment variable. Is it required?
No, the setting up of environment variables is not needed in this process. Thank you for watching!
Hi after downloading git in the cmd like window, iam not getting "master" can u plz tell me the reason
Answered: b/c you did not have the git bash put in the same directory as the file to test. As soon as I did that a git bash terminal opened with the "master" indication
@@bradharris Thanks for your valuable input. Cheers!
"Hi Karim,
Ideally the master branch should come up once git is installed successfully. We would recommend you to uninstall and reinstall it once again."
After creating remote repository ,copied the link in command prompt with git version it is showing fatal: not a git repository
May I know the reason
Please say me
This happens only when you attempt to run a Git command, but you are not inside a Git repository. So make sure you navigate to that repository, and also make sure that you have initialized a repository using the git init command, or you may also clone an existing repository.
Do we require authentication while pushing to repo? I don't see in the video authentication procedure, could you explain on this.
No, you don't need any authentication to push your local repository on to GitHub. You only need to provide the https URL of your GitHub repository. Hope that helps!

You can create a text file in many ways. You can simply give the .txt command OR you can create a text file with the new option on the desktop. Then add anything to that text file and later on put it into the Git repository folder. So eventually, when you push that folder on to the remote repository that file also gets pushed along.
Getting author identity unknown
If I have to push the temp folder along with the content (the text file) .. how do I do it?
You can push the folder in the exact way you push a file. Anything that you place inside the git repository that you are working on can be easily pushed using the git push command. For the exact pushing process of a text file and of an entire folder you can view this video: th-cam.com/video/QJ0iUNe27c8/w-d-xo.html
