The best amp in it category! I faking love this thing! I carry it with one hand to any clubs I play and there is no need for pedalboard or stompboxes. The amp itsself has all I need and more!
I'm so-old school, and now it's a problem. The problem is that there are great modeling amps out there and I've missed out. I think before I invest in a Thirteenrack, I will purchase the Roland 80XL and try again the silicon matrix. If this product sounds half as good up close and personal as it does on this video (great demo by the way) I want it...kind of gets old hauling that plexi half-stack around. Is this thing quiet, hum wise?
Don't get me wrong, I bought the Roland Cube 80xl and I don't regret it but I still might just buy a mustang just to plug my Tele into for those shimmering cleans w chorus and that little bit of grit that I like. The Mustang has the Roland all day long right there and thats all. As far as any gain sound, the Roland will peel paint and push a stack.
This is a good amp but mine has a strange and too-audible 'digital?' hiss on certain settings and sometimes on every setting. The amp is quiet when turned on. The hiss occurs whenever a note is sounded and lasts approximately 5 seconds: I feel it ruins an otherwise quality product. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the question. Wattage and perceived volume are not the same and it all depends on the amp. Most of the time, a tube amp will sound louder with less watts and absolutely no set ratio.
It does have a little bit of that but it's nothing that you can't leave out by dropping out a touch of the mids or switching from the Vox AC-30 Cosm amp type to another at the roll of a knob.. I bought this amp and I love parts of it and am absolutely let down with other parts of it when comparing it to the Fender mustang (Its rival in class). The effects really seem to be a problem for me on this Cube 80, as I was expecting more. Reverbs sound mediocre and the Chorus is robotic and unsoundly.
the boss ML2 metal core sounds much better then the metal zone. I think it's one of these most underrated metal/high gain sounding pedals out there along with the line 6 uber metal

i have one and aounds awesome just tweak it and u r good to go. i have an egnater tube amp but its heavy. This cube roland amp does the job

The issue I’m having is that channels 3&4 (SOLO) are sharing the same volume knob and my presets are fighting over the volume level.

Anyone know how to get a good shred tone out of this amp? I usual use rectifier or METAL and it just sounds bland and weak, with not enough gain
Roland would recommend a Boss Metal Zone. Again, it's all about personal preference for the metal sound you want.
