      Ultimately the years are decided by the defendant. Some judge may give you 10 years, another may give you 30 years. While I do agree with your point and the absurdity of the lack of precedence in justice, your sentencing should be viewed as 10-30 years, not the discrepancy between judges. Very good info here, but Martin's take on federal prosecutors is way off. Federal prosecutor is the dream job of many students who go to top law schools, and the only way to get it is generally to be a star at a top law school, and work for an elite law firm for several years.
    Some may be young (though not a "couple years" out of law school like Martin says), but to say they are mostly unskilled when they had had to have demonstrated very high competence at every level in their legal career to get the position is silly, and Martin probably knows this and is just being a bit salty.
    Now if we were talking about state level prosecutors, I think what he said would be spot-on (it's not a very sought-after position), but that wouldn't be relevant for Sam's case (nor Martin's).

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He’s off a bit mostly about the people who work as federal prosecutors in the office that is charging SBFs case. Young attorneys hired for this office and in this district are likely to be students of top tier law schools because a federal prosecutor position in this specific office is definitely an in demand role. But the role itself is largely in demand because of what one can gain from it on the other side through the relationships and connections that are made in a prominent office like this one.
      Young attorneys who work in this role will eventually start being poached away by elite law firms and make giant sums of money. It also does a lot in the way of propelling attorneys interested in a political career to be able to spring into that space. So it’s a competitive position to land but not necessarily because people want to be in the job itself for an extended period of time. But at the same time the people who do stay in one of these roles for a long time are going to be tough adversaries to face. People who choose to stay in this role are people who are extremely passionate about the role. They’re people who are turning down lucrative private sector opportunities to be overworked and severely underpaid in comparison to what they could be earning and those are people you can’t take lightly or it’s at your detriment.

    He's connected well enough to drag this out long enough for so many other cryptos to collapse, he'll end up looking like a well-intentioned soul who got played by the big meanies.

    SBF was funding very powerful political figures. They will make it look like he is being punished but they will pardon him when the heat comes off him.

      I doubt his parents can pull those kinds of favors. He serves no more utility to powerful political figures. For all they care, he can rot below the prison for embarrassing them.

      @Valborg The entire FTX business model seemed like a slush fund for the 2024 democratic election. Ryan Salame was even larping as republican with Obama worker girlfriend Michelle Bond to ruin republicans running for office.

    3:30 an argument that the judge bought? You mean they proved something against you? Obviously the former sounds better. This is why people shouldn't trust other too much online unless they have some skin in the game. Unless they are staking their reputation or are incurring legal consequences.
